I use these two baits basically the same way as you- but I pair them up a lot. I'll use the swing head to find the fish and then use the jig to really pick the area apart once I know they're there. But I also use it like a pegged T rig quite a bit- mostly out of pure laziness. If it's already tied on and I want a pegged rig anyway- why not? They work great for swimbaits to- keeps them on bottom even when you're moving at a good clip. The one thing I see ppl get wrong with them a lot is they fish too small of a weight- these babies are meant to stay on bottom and sometimes you want to move them pretty fast- which means you need weight to keep it down. As a kayak/bank angler I know the tendency is to buy lighter stuff but- when it comes to jigs and swing heads both- I've learned not to be afraid of the heavier weights, you need them sometimes. Even if it's not deep, current requires weight as well- and I fish a lot of current, especially this time of year.

great topic, Matt! To add to what you said, I think smallmouth and spots eat a wobble head because they’re more aggressive than largemouth. I’m not saying largemouth can’t be aggressive, but we know how crazy spots and smallmouth can be. Lol. My favorite time to fish wobble head is actually at night!

Thanks. That makes me feel good when l have been using a bait the way you suggest. Haha. I will sometimes take a swinghead with a creature. Toss it up to the bank, drag it some, hop it up and swim it a few feet and let it drop. Repeat. Sometimes they want it on the drag, sometimes the swim. Gives me an idea how the fish are feeling that day. Its also a nice way to get an idea what the bottom is like.

I like the swing head, but my lake has large and small mouth so it does seem to produce better so you are on to something there. I would usually use a green pumpkin menace and that was all it took, for some reason if I went to a rage Craw or a big creature bait then it cut the number of bites down also.
