For anyone confused as to the ending, yes, Sora died. Young xehanort repeatedly told him in the keyblade graveyard that him abusing the power of awakening to seek out hearts across worlds would come with the steepest price, and that sora would be lost as a result. King Mickey reaffirms this when he pleads with sora not to use it again to find kairi because he knows sora wouldn’t be able to make it back. There is a time skip between the ending at the keyblade graveyard and the one on destiny islands, the ending on destiny islands shows everyone got their happy endings and takes place after sora went to retrieve kairi. That’s why we see her sitting on the tree, but the sora we see with her is just symbolic of her connection with him, he isn’t actually there as he sacrificed himself to bring her back. That’s why we see her crying, and the image of him fades away while kairi remains. Sora gave his own life to bring kairi back. Need more confirmation? In the secret ending, we see Sora walking through the Shibuya streets of ‘The World Ends with You’, the world that the characters he met in traverse town in dream drop distance are from. In that world, people who have died play something called the reaper game, to earn a shot at coming back to life. we also see riku in the world of verum Rex, who likely found himself there in an attempt to find sora by retracing his steps, not knowing he’s already gone. RIP sora.

So, with the secret ending in mind, does that mean Sora will return in later sequel? They did say that this game is the end of a specific story-arc, not the entire franchise. So maybe there is hope that a future game will star a new protangonist who finds Sora after he's resurrected and meets Kairi again at the end, finally getting his happy ending.

I wouldn't say that. He didn't apologise, he murdered Kairi. I think people saying the ending made him a good guy are really overstating the fact the dude lost and finally surrendered which any smart person would've and should've done.

The box is the key to bringing Sora back to life. The black box is referred to as a mother box which the master of master’s servant Steppenwolf uses to reshape worlds not connected to kingdom hearts by combining three boxes to form the unity which either connects the world to kingdom hearts or destroys the world.Even though the human body could only absorb so much and the mother box was designed to reshape a planet Sora’s body was stronger than a planet his cells lying dormant but incapable of decay in a conductive field a boost from the mother box could bring him back to life. So ansem the wise builds an amniotic chamber to put Sora in and powered by the mother box but aqua is against the idea because she sees the technology as any power without reason or heart it destroys us and that riku is risking lives theirs and countless others but riku believes they are not enough that each of them in their own way is held back and he promises them Steppenwolf is not out there talking about ethics he’s trying to burn down the world and the only way too stop him is by using his power against him. Yozora agrees with Riku as much as he would hate reintegrating with the mother box he ran the numbers and said that there is high probability we could bring him back, when Neku thinks Sora will be brought back in a yay he’s back or a pet sematary scenario. When Daisukenojo says you lose something when you die even Sora maybe not his mind maybe his soul. Riku assures them he has a contingency plan meaning if things go south they’re gonna bring in the big guns aka Kairi since she is Sora’s most important person and his light.

@@NebbyGotOutTheBag It looks like it'll be Sora and Riku visiting The World Ends With You, at least Sora. I think at one point his camera pans out and it's Shibuya, the setting for that game. And in Dream Drop Distance, the characters from that game said he should come visit sometime.

I'm fairy certain there was an intentional connection with Sora possibly sacrificing himself for Kairi, the fact that Hercules was prepared to lose his life for Meg, Eugene prepared to sacrifice himself for Rapunzel, and Anna prepared to sacrifice herself for Elsa. I think that was all foreshadowing Sora's decision to do that for Kairi. Much like those cases though (judging by the secret ending) I'm also convinced that it's foreshadowing that Sora will be okay despite this.
I was so happy in the ending and when Sora vanished my heart shattered. I really hope he eventually gets to be together with Kairi again. And I really hope it will be in my lifetime.

absolutely had this same thought. that must be the case. KH (at least the numbered titles) during disney worlds have a history of foreshadowing or introducing concepts similar to what the theme of the original story will have.
Well even Winnie the Pooh's book foreshadowed it - Sora dissappeared from its cover in exact the same place he dissappears in the ending.

The game takes at least 14 hours to finish. The damage output that you can dish out is bonkers. It's not even challenging anymore.

I love how Donald and Goofy join Sora to take down Xehanort once and for all. He started his journey with them, and he'll end it with them.
I was kind of worried for a minute that they wouldn’t fight with him when they stayed with Yen Sid, but I’m glad they came back to finish it with Sora

I feel like they're more loyal to Sora at this point than their own king. They even offered to go with Sora at the end to help him get Kairi.
Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between gameplay animation with CGI animation in this game. Then Unreal Engine 4 has done a great job rendering the game.
yea i agree, when in cutscene i sometimes ask to myself, is this cgi? nah it is, wait its real time....
but some cutscenes is easy to spot its real time though
Sonic Ranger I’d like to look at the detail when it comes to CGI, the CGI scenes are a bit more expressive in face animations and their hair looks more soft textured, that’s how I see it and when it goes back to UE4, I can tell immediately.

The organization originally plan to creat a Sora replica, so when xion was killed the 1st time the organization forgets that they already created 1 and probably tried to creat again thus end up resurrecting xion..

I can still remember when Kingdom Hearts was all a mystery to me. I remember before the first game came out, seeing Riku, Kairi, Sora looking out into the ocean. I didn't know who any of the characters were but I remember the tree Sora and Kairi sit on and the view out to the ocean. I had no idea the adventure that laid ahead. One sky, one destiny.

So...Xehanort planned everything. He manipulated his past self. He manipulated his Heartless and Nobody born of the possessed Terra. He manipulated everyone that all of those incarnations touched. He planned for every possible contingency in a way that had the unshakably sagacious Yen Sid stunned at the possibility that anyone could have planned that far ahead. He played gambits upon gambits to make sure he got what he wanted in the end.
...And now we find out that all of that was PART OF SOMEONE ELSE'S MASTER PLAN THE ENTIRE TIME.

Okay years back, I remember i read a fanfiction story of KH with nearly most characters that came together and work as a team like Aqua, Ventus, Terra, Axel, Xion and Roxas.
I thought back it was such a cheesy plot near the conclusion of the story that I doubted it would ever happen in the official game of KH3.
But now looking at this video, I'm pretty sure whoever the author was that wrote that fanfiction story long time ago might be fan gasm right about now....
Speaking of fanfiction, though. I've seen a whole bunch of talented ones out there and I always have to wonder why they're wasting their talent on non-profit organizations.
It was Nomura who travelled back in time under a different name and wrote that fanfic himself

@@SSlash In 3D: Dream Drop Distance, it shows in the ending that Sora is going to rescue Aqua, Ven and Terra, so it does make sense that it's been teased again and again.

AsianBoy Bran Nintendo did state that the season 1 dlcs are guest fighters we would never expect. Joker from persona 5 was confirmed so anyone is on the table. Hell even master chief could show up.

I was horrified and furious at the same time because of what xehanort did to kairi right in front of sora. And I cried a lot when sora disappeared. I really, really hope sora and kairi will finally be together in future games

@@Demaad Most likely stuck, that end scene possibly is the trigger for the ahem "next" game where its either Sora's journey back or one of the main characters most likely Riku or Kairi being playable on the search for him while learning more about Xigbar's (or Luxu's) past and what he is doing now.

If you think about it, everything Xehanort did lead them all to this. Destiny is never left to chance. Xehanort played his part also. The master of master knows about Sora and Xehanort.
This game was so weird. I mean I loved it, but I could never tell if I'm close to the end of it or if I'm just in the middle. Only after I entered the Graveyard, did I know that I'm at the end. Great adventure, not as ... magical? as the second one, but in "trilogies" the second part always will be the best, haha.
Yes just played the 2nd one again and this one doesn’t hold a candle to it.. the middle part of that game alone (the war for hallow bastion) is better than this entire game

Luxu/Xigbar and his old comrades must be the 7 Darkness, the 7th Darkness must be their Master who we don't know where he went...unless he's inside that coffin-looking box. I wonder...Sora, Mickey, Riku, Kairi, Lea, Roxas, Xion, Ventus, Aqua, Terra...that's 10 Lights...I don't count Goofy and Donald since they don't use Keyblades. Maybe 3 new Main Characters since Sora's Story is Complete and I highly doubt Nomura-Sensei will use Sora as the main character in the next arc and I noticed Nomura-Sensei is fond of the Rule of 3 Cliché revolving around Earth, Water and Wind.

I started this series when I was 11. I'm now 28 and I have to say, that ending cinematic was incredibly satisfying to watch after all these years. Seeing the 7 of them sitting on the clock tower almost made me tear up. Who cares if Sora's missing at the end, I finished this game with the biggest smile on my face.
None of those characters held a candle to sora, also they wouldnt be there without him doing all the shit he did. I along with the vast majority of people "care" about the main character of the game series. I could give two fucks about roxas and his nobody friends. In fact i think they handled all those characters a lot better in 2 where they were reconnected with their original selves. But nooo everyone had to come back to life for no fucking reason, woopdie doo.
I disagree, everything felt forced, like Nomura didn't have drive anymore to keep the story or characters interesting and original.
Even the online smartphone games were better than that.

The music at 46:10 is like the first time in Kingdom hearts when Sora says "My friends are my power" to Riku.
Definitely the most epic climax out of every game, talk about hitting all the right chords, and it hit so hard too on an emotional level, the writing for this series is nothing short of phenomenal. To think its come this far.

Even then, a ten-year gap is nonsensical. 5 or 6 years would be more accurate.
Am I the only one who think that this story would be much deeper if Sora just passed away? Everyone gets a happy ending, and secret ending is foreshadowing that Sora will too, eventually. Death is meaningless in this series. I love the characters, and I wish them well, I was really happy to see everyone have fun together but... that way we could never see the ending for KH, cause Nomura can always come up with some idea to bring a character back. Kingdom Hearts 3 was almost perfect, yet I feel so tired of the waiting for another game.
XesyWorkToo the series itself is based around hope, it makes sense to eventually get a happy ending or at least a hint of a future one
@@SoraxKairi143 I think that Sora brought enough hope throughout the series. His disappearance made the ending bitter-sweet, balanced the whole story. Everyone came back even from the deepest abyss, and it was surprisingly easy to do for Sora. But the ending showed its consequences. It made his decision to save all of his friends (and especially Kairi) more meaningful. His life was at stake, and he knew it, but he decided to do it anyway. But now it doesn't matter, cause we'll get the chance to bring Sora back. And I'm almost certain, that we'll succeed.

The thing is, death does have meaning only if you're not consumed by darkness (which is hilarious since that gives tons of incentives to be a Nobody considering how Marluxia and Larxene have been around for literal centuries as their "somebody" forms have been around since KH:X.

Now that I deeply watched this,
Sora was physically there.
Donald spots them and is about to happily run over until he is stopped. Even Goofy was wondering if he should go but Mickey said no.
Then everyone literally stops what they are doing and looks over at them with a look of a mixture of concern and hope -cause I am pretty sure Mickey and Yen Sid explained the stakes that Sora was betting against when he left again. They knew he wouldn't be there for long.
and what touches me here is that...we have always seen Sora treat all of his companions equally. Normally, I would expect him to share what little time he knew he had with all of them and letting them know he was going to be okay.
But no, instead he chooses to spend it with Kairi alone. Holding hands togethers watching the sunset back in their home of Destiny Islands. And he just stares at her until he fades away, probably hurting that he is leaving her crying yet again.
That is why I really wish there was dialogue shared at least between them cause of the longest time I thought Kairi was imagining Sora's presence. But it didn't explain everyone's body language and expressions. Now that I REALLY watched everyone's behaviors and observed the scene a bit more, it all makes sense that everyone saw Sora there and it was more fitting to see Riku staring at him last with an almost heartbroken look on his face cause he knew.
Maybe in the DLC we will get to do the mission where we save her and we can hear what those two said before he disappeared?

Had to come back and rewatch this cause people were saying Xehanort was redeemed and forgiven. He certainly wasn't, he just concedes, that's all, he admits he loses and passes on, I have no idea where people got the redeemed and forgiven stuff from
Yeah it's really weird to see people saying that. He never apologized for anything, he just admitted he lost.
Not really but master xehanort also shown humility. Ansem and Xemnas showed some cliched sympathic villian traits. Ansem said he admired Riku's strength and almost will miss him while Xemnas felt bad that he basically told the organization members to go on this suicide mission for his own selfish goals. Young Xehanort was the only one that stayed a true arrogant villain till the end.
he was reunited with his best friend in their version of heaven not exactly a tragic ending if u ask me not fair and his friend wasnt even angry with him he treated him like a friend he hasent seen in ages no scolding anything etc

There’s something about this game that makes me feel the creators were dragging their feet through the production of it.
I love how Xemnas actually realizes how his companions felt because of him. I love how he sort've has feelings now and a soul and even acknowledges Sora's strength to carry on despite everything. Even when Ansem seeker of darkness dies it is sort've wholesome to see him and Riku acknowledge and accept that this is the end of their journey as well as how ansem tells Riku to go forth and seek everything in the world.
I just finished the game on proud ... honestly I’m satisfied . Everyone ended up where they ended to be .
But CAN I SAY THAT THE FIGHTS WHEN YOU WERE IN THE LABYRINTH WERE AWESOME, fighting multiplayer organization members and seeing there closure .. it was perfect , every single one . This is the best game ever ...
Kh2 had better combat and ending. There was no need for bbs to exist except to make sequels.

While I do love Keyblade Graveyard and Scala.. I still feel like we never got a fully playable last world, or a really big hub world like Radiant Garden. Keyblade was full of cutscenes and bosses, whereas EOTW, and TWTNW felt a big larger and more to do in them. Even though they probably weren't. Something about this game just didn't feel "complete" whereas gameplay and worlds are concerned.
I always love seeing the ending before playing the game, because I am always riddled with questions like: "What happened in the story for the ending to shape like that?" And that very question is my greatest motivation to play the game without seeing anything else. I can't wait for my copy to get into my hands!!!😻😻😻

Master Xehanort planned, preplanned, replanned, counter planned and Batman planned every little detail to achieve his goal. And then in the end, instead of the heroes outsmarting him or him failing due to hubris or not understanding love or something, Xehanort just lost because he failed to beat a teenager in a fight that he had decades of experience over.
Sora didn’t vanish, he has merely been teleported to another place, where the next thing he hears will be...
