Honestly, part of me thinks the heelflip thing was a bit unfair, as he doesn't roll his ankle before doing a slide up the nose for ollies, let alone do that type of motion in the heelflip attempt. There's literally no chance he'd land a heelflip.

You are 100% correct. Part of this series is showing people how NOT to learn.
It’s mostly about him learning how to stay on top of the board and learn his balance or center of gravity. After that, everything else starts to come more naturally. He has to pay attention to his shoulders and when to/ not to move them

He's safe. He doesn't send it down the 5 often or put him into situations to get injured at nearly 40 years old, etc. Safe is smart, too. But I think he's more safe than smart here.
I just stumbled across this channel and watching these videos I remembered how much fun I had and all the good memories I made with my skate friends. Definitly gonna get a new setup soon and get back to it.

This has really inspired me. I stopped skateboarding about 10 years ago because I felt like I wasn't making enough progress in my tricks. However, after discovering this channel and watching videos nonstop for about a week I went back out today and picked up where I left off. I can't wait to work my way up through tricks the right way and become the skater that I wanted to be when I was 12
I landed my first ollie yesterday. I want to give a special thanks to you guys for inspiring me to start skating. I love your stuff and keep going!

Mowgli tips are so helpful helpful I was tryna heelflip for about half an hour and even though I didn't land one they were fully flipping before I couldn't even get it to flip
Just wanted to say that watching your vids made me come back to skateboarding at age of 45!I first skated on a vision gator back in 1986 ! Love the new stuff makes it easier to skate! Like muscle memory i swear! Took me a week to get nice and balance on my board and was easy to do ollies! But Watching this vid really wants me to take on the heelfipl or kickflips!

Alec was really sending it on the warm-up this time. Seems like he's not afraid of landing both feet on the board anymore (a huge hurdle to overcome for beginners). now he just really needs to master his ollies before moving on
i think after you learn him a couple tricks standing still you should do skate supports like you did with lance with some ollies over boxes or drop ins or jumping stairs
I like how whenever Aaron asks Alec to jump onto his right foot, or kick the floor he ends up not doing it on the board or landing on both feet
They need to put me in one of these challenges. I'd let my passion to learn, paying my way through college, my wanting to buy a DSLR and knowing that I could buy dinner to motivate me.

When I first tried learning, someone was teaching me ollies, but I kept accidently doing kickflip rotations.

I jus started a week ago as a 30 year old. I’ve been making skate/long boards for 7 years now and I never really got the urge to try. I stopped boxing/fighting after my last fight and noticed there are too many similarities in regards to footwork to not try this ish. I just landed some clean kick flips Whatup😂. Thank you so much. I don't know why, but heel flips we're always easier for me, but varial heelflips and laser flips are extremely hard for me. It's weird but true.

His back foot stays down instead of jumping, causing the tail of the board to stay in one spot while he flicks and sends the board spinning. Snap down then slide and kick out while your back foot is coming up.
the flick motion for a heelflip is the exact same as if you where lightly pushing the brake of your car mixed with an ollie motion.
the tip for heel flips is have ur front foot a little more down from ur comfortable position. i hate the trick and can sometimes get it.
Alec gets points for full-sending. He goes for it, which is a big part of the battle. I'm just starting and I'm petrified to even land on the board in fear it will shoot out from under me and I'll go flying!
Heelflip was the first flip trick I ever learned. For some reason I can do them super easy.
He's practicing the flipping motion with his front foot when not moving, but it makes him think he has to keep all his weight on his backfoot which is why it just flies out.

It’s true that for weird reason I learned varial flip before kick flip but now for weirdest reason I cannot varial flip anymore

Once Alec learns all of the skateboarding tricks, do some videos where you pay him to learn other stuff like knitting, giving tattoos, making really good macaroni and cheese, calming down wild animals, seeing through walls, etc.

Aaron you should challenge the Braille team to a “who can stay on a skateboard the longest challenge” for money or something. and see who can stay standing or squatting or coffin on a skateboard. The rules could be their weight has to be dependent on the board they can’t be like sitting on the floor and just have both feet planted on the board but that also means they could be standing squatting or coffin on it
But it has to be a $1000 challenge or something I want to see who really would stay the longest I’d bet on mowgli idk why lol

You’re teaching him wrong, what he should do is understand the physics of the board and the axis it rotates on. Just pop and flick what feels comfortable in the direction of a heel flip and boom. Instant progress. All you need from there is commitment.

First attempt on a heelflip and he makes it go varial heel. But i am surprised they never told him to lean forward when popping. 😂

I learned to heel by doing an Ollie with half of my front foot hanging off the edge. Then I didn't have to think about extra steps.
I've since corrected my technique. But it was a strong starting point.
If it rains once every seven years in California and this is the only day you wanted to skate, that means you have only wanted to skate one time in the last 2556 days (leap year included). Enjoy the rain, you probably need it.

Some dude taught me how to heelflip in about 10 min. Ollie foot goes in the backside pocket, front foot goes with your heel over the bolt. Ollie, kick, boom.
Heel-side bolt or toe-side? I'm assuming toe-side, like the opposite of a kickflip but that seems like a lot of foot hanging off.
