@Viktor Soerensen the running gag is that Gordon was told no guitars for 2016. So he made a metal synth daisy chain program and ran deep industrial machine sounds, a lawnmower, and a chainsaw through the program and created a new synth instrument lovingly dubbed The Doom Machine
@Viktor Soerensen it has “the sound” in it the sound used to represent argent energy in the soundtrack. I call it doom synth. It has the doom synth in it which means it the doom machine was used. If I’m understanding how Gordon described the process then the samples are in the program for the Doom machine

I think that was more the case for 2016. AFAIK Mick Gordon was not shouldered with the same "no guitars" requirements for Eternal. Since 2016's sound track was such a smash hit, they dropped the no guitar BS and let him go all in with them. That's why 2016 has kind of a dub-steppy, techno-ish kind of sound with guitars layered on top, while Eternal is much more heavy metal.

This is from Mick Gordon's personal mix, the final VG album for DOOM Eternal is different because ID Software Had delays with Mick's OST for Eternal, and had their co-composer mix the release OST instead. It's the reason why Mick Gordon cut ties with ID Software after the release of DOOM Eternal.
The thing I really love about Mick Gordon is that he is able to INSPIRE EMOTION in people. He can make you feel like you are ready to fight the armies of hell itself. And it still -sounds good.- There is still very clear rythyms and beats that alot of metal loses to the noise. He plays the music of some primal part of our souls that still wants to fight.

The recent doom games have revitalized and popularized metal music. Doom 2016 even won soundtrack of the year (Doom Eternal was robbed last year, should’ve been a repeat)
Seconded. The Mick mixes are ALWAYS better than studio mixes. Problem with his music is that it's deliberately designed to be constructed part by part separately, meaning when he hands files over to other people, rather than it being a single piece of music, it's a bunch of different segments people have to slap together in a way they THINK sounds good. This works well in game because if combat is intense, the music gets more intense, and if things are calming down then the tracks can cut to the bridge and so on so forth. When just listening to some rando on RUclips though, the channel themselves (or the Id team in this case) has to decide how to mix these different segments. ... And then almost always a few weeks after fan mixes are made, Mick comes out with the official mix which not only sounds and rolls better, but includes parts you haven't even heard yet.

Y'all somebody needs to send this to Mick. The beardyman in the black looks like he's having a goddamn spiritual awakening throughout the whole song and it's just.... *so satisfying* as a hardcore fan seeing someone else get absolutely slammed by this track the way I was, it's like living it for the first time all over again and I can only imagine how nuts it feels as the artist to watch a reaction like that.
Ill bet money he went looking for more doom/mick tracks after this he was Jivin with it wayyyyyy too much.
Ayy this brings me back to the old bury your dead days. Probably why i love doom soundtracks so much.
The thing that makes the Mick Gordon soundtracks so outstanding and exceptional is not just the guitars, chainsaws and lawnmowers (yes, he incorporated a lawnmower into the soundtrack, we vibin' to power tools baby), it's the ambience that builds up the suspension and makes the metal elements shine so much more. The soundtracks are masterpieces.
@@repentofyoursinsandbelieve629 no.
“What is that sound?” Literally a chainsaw, a lawnmower, and various industrial machine noise run through a metal guitar synth
This style of metal music is called "argent metal", the name inspired by "argent energy" from doom.
A few others you might like (from mick gordon):
"Meathook"
"BFG Division"
"Super gore nest"
"Hell on earth"
"Cultist base"
When I hear his music I get infinite energy
Best part of the album was it came with a game.
this was actually the "gamerip version" of the track that's why there are a lot of ambient/mood moments on it. try to listen to the original Mick Gordon version and I think that's the one you are expecti-
"I love that tune- tha-that tone- What is that...?"
"Heavy."
2:32 actually, if am not wrong that isn’t a guitar, neither a base, is a GRASS MOWER
This is the lawnmower part 5:17
3:21 Fun fact, that high pitched sound? its a LAWNMOWER that Mick heard outside of his studio while he was recording, he pitched it up and put it on the timetable, no synth needed. 2:25 that's also not a pitched down guitar, not a guitar with bass strings, its a chainsaw, A GODANG CHAINSAW!!!
Just discovered you guys through my love of Doom OST youtube algorithm. Your singles slap brothers 🤘🤘
Thank you my dude
@@TrueShotOfficial Doom soundtrack is a banger

"It's a fuckin' bop." - God
try Meathook, and do the Mick's version mix of this
I second that
I triple that
I quadruple that
I quintuple that
I sixtuple that... wait
4:57 is just adorable wit the synchronized head banging
4:47 that humming in the background im fairly certain is the chain saw
Yeah, he used a lot of random objects for the sound lol
I was expecting- *Shook*
Should have reacted to his version of the song. This one is the official track for the game which is hella water downed compared to the original song.
Wait there was an OG version?

2:28 His smile was speaking “Yes...MUCH HEAVY”
Bro the way the music like moves in and out in the game based on what you're doing is so fucking genius too. Game is sick.
listening to this while watching you guys react is surprisingly fun - thanks!! soundtrack is f'ing incredible
He used a combination of a 9 string, a chainsaw, and a lawnmower as well as his "doom machine" which was essentially about 15 pedals hooked into each other along with some other distortion makers. He did a really awesome talk breaking down the specifics of that :)
I don't like rock or heavy metal at all but something about these songs just make me fall in love
Same brother, only metal songs I like are ones from Mick Gordon, or The Hu.
“Does this guy take Doom music and make it metal?”
“No, he IS Doom music.”
“Oh...”
I usually dont fuck around with reaction videos but the pure joy in this video gets me every time
“I was expecti-“
Doom: *shut up and let me finish*
They told mick before he started making these that they didn’t want guitar in it. So he put them in and won them best game soundtrack for doom 2016
"I was expecting..."
suprised pikachu face
6:12 that's how women feels when you finish first
the clip on youtube for "DOOM Eternal End Credits Scene Zombie Playing With Toys" sums this up perfectly ROFL
Literally the official soundtrack version with the synth at 2:00 kills so much harder even. That synth is the most insane sound I've heard in my entire life.
every heavy metal musician react to the best part of the only thing they fear is you 2:25
2:47 I fucking love this reaction lmao
*instinctive headbanging*
"I love that tone, what is that?"
"...heavy."
Such a good answer.
"I was expecti-"
*badass riff starts playing*
