You made the right choice. Currently getting ghosted by etsy too, fuck them. I’m glad you got your shop back but I 100% agree with you on why you wouldn’t go back. Ever since I seen your Etsy deactivation video , I’ve been working on getting my own website and Market for that. I wish you the best !
Thanks for sharing. The Etsy deactivation process is so mysterious. It seems like most shop owners want to fix whatever the issue with a shop or listing is and Etsy refuses to provide any information.
good for you! my etsy account got deactivated this month for the same reasons as you, i was so upset about it but i've picked myself up and figured other ways to pursue my business... etsy doesnt deserve us!

I agree with your decision to leave Etsy. You've used Etsy for what it's good for , "getting started with ecommerce". You now graduated to the next level! Congratulations! Most never get where you are! That's a huge step imo. Go get em babe! You got this!
I am in a totally different craft world than you, but because of the title of your video about Etsy deactivating your account and how they would not talk to you and how they treated you, it made me really stop and think about this company and their integrity. I chose to create my own website and not have to deal with Etsy because it's hard enough to start a business online and get everything ready and then have it deactivated.......noooo thanks. All the best to you and I hope for much success in your business, be blessed.
They banned you for no reason, and wouldn't tell you why, then they reinstated you without even informing you of that... yeah, I can't wait to trust my livelihood to Etsy. Good on you for not going back.
I’m starting a new shop and as I was searching Etsy and Shopify, etc videos yours came up and I never went to Etsy to start my shop JUST because of how they treated you on the phone and the LACK of communication on their part. I can’t believe companies this huge can treat ppl like that. NOPE 👎 no matter the reason for shutting your shop down, you deserve at LEAST a reason!!! Bad business practices, smh
This happens to a lot of new shops! I can't understand why in the world they want to make it harder to make them money! I would definitely open your shop long enough to change all the links to your new info.... Your videos are going to drive a lot of traffic to your your old shop, may as well use the opportunity to forward to your new info. Good luck in whatever you decide!!
Hey, Amy, I wanted to mention that not only did you explain what happened you also used your experience as a teaching opportunity so that others don’t make the same mistake. I really appreciate that and for upcoming artists and designers, your video will be incredibly helpful. Great job and welcome back!
My New Etsy shop was deactivated around the same time as yours without notice. I know it is their right to do so however, I had hoped I could speak with someone about the real reason. I re-read their policies and nothing jumps out at me as the cause. If they ever reactivated my shop, I would officially close it because I would not be able to ever trust that platform. Good luck on embarking on your new chapter.
I also had my etsy shop deactivated with no notice and for no reason I could decipher. I was crushed. It was a brand new shop and I was just getting momentum and then it was all gone. I tried to reach them, but got no response. Then one day a week later it was back. I still have no idea what happened or why and I'm scared to death that I'll put more hard work into the shop and it will happen again.
Same here, just been deactivated. Mine was a couple months old and just now I was starting to make sales (4 so far), so if any of those people want to write a positive comment on me they just can't. I don't think Etsy people give a shit about the damage they cause.
exactly the same thing happened to me. More and more robots are actually running ety's back office, we are being assessed by AI employees '__' hence the lack of response and of the awkwardness around how it happened
I think other sellers noticed you selling similar products so they report you. Esty will temp ban your account to look into the reports and reopen if they find out the spam was based on alterior motives. Just what I think
I had the same thing happen to me. It nearly bankrupted me. No explanation. If Etsy doesn't stop doing this, sellers are going to come together with a class action law suit. This is not a good business practice on their part.
Same here! They suspended my shop back in March due to a glitch, took them a week to reinstate it. They told me it was due to me having too many overdue orders. I’m no longer trusting them. So many sellers have also gotten their accounts deactivated, even buyers as well.
I was just thinking the same thing. I mean think of all the income she lost in those four months. Especially if they were still charging her for anything in that time!
Especially when Etsy bans legit sellers yet is still letting thousands of others who are openly violating copyright laws, operate with no interruption. You can type in the word "Disney" in Etsy's search box for example and over 1.2 million listings will pop up. The majority of those listings on the first page of that search are using trademark and copyrighted Disney logos and characters. And Disney is a company that has sued children's hospitals and daycares for painting Mickey mouse and friends on their walls.. so I doubt if all those Etsy sellers have Disney's permission to profit off their intellectual properties. And that's if you search just Disney not including their other properties like Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, etc. Also it is the same for all movie studios, sports teams, celebrities, etc. Millions of illegal knock off products.
option 3- Etsy doesn't know what it is doing... your account could be banned for no reason at all... at any time. Your videos have been a reminder to me... Build on your own real estate.
My friends shop was deactivated a few years ago. She made a deodorant with similar ingredients as another maker and that maker got mad because my friends product was selling well and hers wasn’t. She told Etsy that my friend copied her idea. That’s like saying my restaurant makes lasagna and I think another restaurant copied my recipe. They closed my friends shop without even telling her. She had to call them and they said there was nothing they could do. She opened her own website and her business was better than ever.
Etsy is nothing but copyright infringement. People try to make you buy a commercial license to use images they themselves aren’t allowed to be selling. Etsy would cease to exist if they closed the accounts of people selling disney items alone.
Mine was deactivated for castle illustrations- not traced and I had started my castles in 2013, - the irony is Disney copied an actual german castle for their castle design. 🤴🏻
Yay. So glad for you. This is proof you did nothing wrong and they accidentally shut you down. Our second account is still deactivated. I'm currently pushing to make a following so I can transition to my own website. It's hard to trust etsy after this.
Did they add insult to injury by continuing to charge you while you were shut down? I had a friend who had to have her credit card company block Etsy from taking payments.
Same happened to me. Opened up shop, got all my original art together. Put up downloadable digital art and connected my shop to an Etsy partner, got a few listings up. 3 days intensively focused and then they suspended my account. Thank God I found your vid and so many blogs and posts about this. If people are trying to make a living, that’s no way to run a small business. I deleted my account immediately, lesson learned and will find another platform. I learned a lot in the process though that I can use in my business. Grateful for that. Be well everyone, we’ll make it.
It happened to me last night. It was just 3 days after I opened up Etsy. I was so upset but I changed my mind, it is better to go through now instead of after 3 years.... Thanks for sharing your experience. I support you from my heart and I subscribe your channel as appreciation. I will also step up and move on. Good luck!
Your hair is gorgeous. I started my Etsy in January, FromEarthClay. I Just viewed both your videos back to back on your experience.. so crazy! Makes me want to do more research and not get to comfortable.
I'm already planning my Etsy shop escape. Only been on there for a few months and I already see how other sellers/companies come after you when your shop is profitable.
I had the same exact experience with FB. No email, no explanation of why I could no longer post, use messenger, Like comments, or even remove my content from the platform completely if i had no control of it. etc. so many friends tried to figure it out …and it embarrassingly lasted years. Then one day poof it was back. Jumped back in not knowing what had changed and still no explanation (and believe i tried every way to get in direct contact for any explanation. and all messages came back unanswered) I was very leery to post anything and kept to myself avoiding it happening again but then it did AGAIN-this time ONLY for months and now activated again. MY POINT IS I agree with you MOVING ON because THEY LOST OUT on gaining from your success AND i totally understand the emotional tole it takes. Not knowing why will continue to eat at you. Thinkin’ of you! Thank you for telling your story!
I enjoyed this talk. (New to you, hi!) The amount of control these companies have over the little guys irks me to no end. I 100% applaud your rebranding effort despite the roadbump and didn't quit!! Thanks for the inspiration you just gave me. ^^ Best of luck to you~
I guess no one can get too comfortable with Etsy. Etsy just banned all 3 shops. I put so much efforts in them and I can’t even count how many hours and all nighters, I think Etsy values buyers too much and doesn’t give a * about sellers. Few buyers didn’t receive items on time in one of my stores (delay because of covid) and Etsy decided to close all of my shops. Including my brother’s ( he has done nothing wrong). The way they handle it is so ungrateful leaving no warning and no rooms for explanation. I will start immediately elsewhere.
Hey Amy, I totally agree with you! I started my own shop on 1st June 2021 and my account got suspended 2 days later without any reason. When I tried reaching to them they just gave me the standard email "your account was comprehensively checked and they completely shut down my account just like yours. Goodbye Etsy, big mistake for losing Amy and any other creator that would have sold their products there. I was not even on Etsy and that is why I will not even try to get back. I will start my own shop and sell everything there, and not rely on Etsy and some stupid bot deciding to close or ban my shop and my products for no real reason.
You did the right thing. I was going to start an Etsy shop but hearing what they put you through as well as other Etsy shop owners who were also banned, no way. Thank you so much for sharing your unfortunate experience with Etsy. Wishing you all the best.
I'm trying to resolve my account /shop suspension. I keep getting the same automated email response. I live in the UK and there is no number to call. I tried a few and it doesn't connect. I'm getting so upset and frustrated. I'm a student nurse and this was how I paid my way through the training. I can't afford to pay my bills or put food on the table. I just can't cope and etsy took everything from me.
Everyone has told me to use Etsy for my woodworking side business... I was on the fence, but after watching the "Saga of Amy" series, I am definitely not. (also, yes, I made it all the way to the end 'Hey, wyd" hehe.
Great video, I recently opened a store to sell my scale RC items but after seeing this I'm now less likely to use Etsy, it's a real shame as eBay is going downhill fast and I thought Etsy would be much better as it's more craft driven , just looks like another load of bad management
Any chance that Etsy are having server capacity issues? That would explain the mass shutting of, especially new accounts, and ones that are on vacation?
Thank you for sharing. I was in the process of starting one and now I'm rethinking this entirely. It's shameful that they would behave in that manner. At the least, give a reason. I'll be checking out your blog, because I'm trying to figure out my niche (which is how I found you in the first place.). I wish you all the best moving forward!
Thanks for update. I wonder if their site was hacked..if so security needs to be stepped up. Either way bad and horrible for their consumers. I am so glad I saw how they did not handle your customer concerns because that doesn't sit well with me. Thanks again for the detailed account of your experience.

I saw your story previously, i just cant imagine the frustration you had! i also have an Etsy Store and yes that ´s a constant fear, thanks for saying ot don´t have all our eggs in one basket, actually i am working in my website. I will you so so so much luck and success in all your projects!!
I just watched your videos and subbed. I just started my etsy shop a few days ago despite hearing a lot of negatives about it. Honestly after watching your videos that was the nail in the coffin for me and I am shutting it down. I will take another route. Thank you for being transparent and wishing you much success.
Glitches are not a reason for no reply & I'm sure they would have mentioned something was going wrong along with other accounts that were deactivated, I'm glad you have alot of support. If you can get through covid, then you can do anything!!! I'm new to your tutorials as of today & I love your craft, your videos are easy to follow & you give me inspiration, so thank you Amy. I know this was a very old video but I hope you are doing well today & every other day here after. Happy crafting from Aotearoa (New Zealand) 🥰💌
Random thought, but maybe it had something to do with the famous Irish folk-punk band, The Pogues. Maybe that's where the crossover occurred? Total speculation. Either way, congrats on being vindicated.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I completely support your decision regarding your etsy shop. Good luck on your journey on your blog. I look forward to your videos :)
Thank you for sharing your story. I know it must've been hard during this whole process. Etsy really handled this unprofessionally. It seems like the bigger a company gets, the lower the quality of service. The best thing to do as a brand is to diversify your income, and build your own website, where you have control over everything. I have a couple of small Etsy shops, and working on rebranding and relaunching one of them, but eventually any small business owner needs to get off of Etsy (or any marketplace) and on to their own website, which is something I'm hoping to do eventually. Best of luck to you and thanks again for sharing your story!
I 1000% agree. Ever since I stopped Etsy I've focused more on helping beginner crafters and diversifying my income. Thank you for understanding & listening to my story and best of luck to you as well! xo
If you do decide to come back to Etsy. Non of your followers would be upset. We know that Etsy shop will be another source of income for you. Think of the free traffic. I wish you the best and congrats on them reopening your shop. That is very weird that you received no emails though.
I think Etsy is a good choice but it if u dont follow their hundreds of rules their just NOPE. I think ill start an etsy shop eventually but have a website with cheaper prices
I’ve got a reserve payment on my account. They won’t send money to my account and are holding 75% of funds. This platform is not good for small business. I’m done and now have to figure out how to pull away and still get paid for orders that have been sent. I really hate Etsy now days.
You made the right choice. They did the same to me. I am walking away too. In fact anytime someone gets closed by Etsy they just need to leave. Maybe if Etsy looses sellers and buyers they'll change how they run their platform!
They did they now have allowed drop shipping and alli express shops to over run the platform. Honestly I think a lot of shop closers had to do with those shops ripping off designs and then reporting the real stores so there is no way to find the original products and your stuck with cheep rip offs. 😢
I’m going to think of you every time I get that wyd text… as I’m waiting on Etsy to respond to my deactivated listings as well. I don’t know how it happened but I’m team no ghost. Looking for another way to promote my designs as of now just in case. But I am able to sign in so hopefully it was a glitch. Hope your new venture and rebrand is taking off!!
When Etsy was launched it was full of sellers who made their crafts by hand and everything is unique and the quality was amazing. I've been shopping Etsy since 2009. A few years after that, I noticed that there were a lot more mass produced items, cheaper, but low quality. It got worst after that with Vendors who steals design ideas to include the photos, descriptions, and pricing. A friend who has an Etsy shop was victim of pirating. Etsy left her hanging for months. I was a victim of fake vendor. The items never came and the shop was nowhere to be found. I always pay by Paypal so I was refunded. I reported this shop to Etsy and it took them months to get back to me via email to say that the vendor has left Etsy and they can process refund. Too late. I still shop on Etsy but I stick to vendors I've known for years. You made the right decision to stay away from them. I can't believe they treat their vendors like that who keeps their business alive.
Ok. I’ve officially seen enough horror stories concerning Etsy’s unprofessional handling and treatment of the shop owners. Aren’t the shop owners Etsy’s lifeline on top of it all. I’m convinced Etsy’s making, not just mistakes, but continued ones and sadly I cannot try them out. Imagine the single parent scenario who finally got on their feet with Etsy and then their shop got shut down for no reason like the others!
I was considering pausing my store and using Etsy to drive more traffic towards my brand but now i think I’ll just keep working on building my audience on my social media lol thank you for documenting this and sharing your experiences
They released her shop but no she isn't back.. she has integrity enough that she can't go and knock a door that was shut on her face without any fault from her side.. she clearly stated she is not considering etsy again.
I agree 100% with your decision. It has made my decision to even bother a no brainer plus I don't like their website. They steer you away to other shops and I find that extremely annoying.
I am happy for you that you got your shop back. Mine is still suspended, I felt so lost at the beginning. I sent many emails to Etsy but there is no reply. I just created my website as a new home.
I’m so happy that you got your shop back. I see your point of view but I don’t agree. I think you should rebuild your Etsy shop but also have your website so that if it’s ever taken down again your not losing everything. When your knocked down you don’t stay down you come back and go full beast mode.
Etsy, like many American businesses, who begin working with China end up not caring about customers, buyers, sellers or the environment. The only thing they care about is the chance to make more money. It’s easier to ignore a dissatisfied person when you’ve got millions of new potential customers. I’ve heard so many complaints about Etsy it breaks my heart how the arts and crafts movement is taken advantage of.
I know this was a while ago, just subscribed when I saw some of your videos. I had a fight with Etsy about the same time, they were trying to convince me that the American Flag was Copyright.. I won in the long run, but had to basically restart my drop ship business because the damage was done. Thanks for your videos...
@@MoniLuv1978 did you ever get paid for what you did ship out? My shop hit a big boom a few days before random shutdown and I can't even get an answer on how to fulfill orders. Only 1/3 of remaining orders payments have been transferred to my bank the others were awaiting deposit date.
I’m glad you’re not going back to Etsy. I don’t believe Etsy really cares about creators since they went public. Not to mention that all their fees are excessive and hurt handmade creators just trying to make a living off their art.
This morning when I woke up and logged into my Etsy account but it said my store was closed, I don't know why and there wasn't any notification email from Etsy. then i sent an email of appeal, hope to get an answer soon as. I have invested a lot of effort and money in the store and my product sales also have not been paid from Etsy. It's a bewildering good morning. After watching your video, I have a little hope ! Thank You
I just found your channel & I’m learning about your situation with Etsy. I’m so sorry this happened, but you seem so strong & confident & full of enthusiasm for life. You will find greatness no matter which avenue you take, I can tell
aw thank you a bunch!! there are other websites such as Shopify that I know of, local markets and craft fairs are a great start too as well!! definitely have a social media presence as well to get your name out :)
They offer you the option of vacation mode but they penalize you when you use it. I just heard someone suggest to never put yourself on vacation mode. Instead, they suggest you raise your prices astronomically or extend your processing time to stall instead of turning yourself off.
Just FYI. I have seen that the only people that get their accounts back are youtubers with lots of views. A video from a youtuber talking about etsy banning their store for no reason gives etsy a bad name. So they restore those youtuber's shops so you keep telling your viewers to shop at your etsy store!. a small business with no youtube channel has no chances of getting their shop back.
Etsy has been getting on my nerves lately. Everything that I actually really enjoy with the anime style stuff that I make for fun really, they keep the siding to take down and it’s getting very irritating because I put a lot of time and energy. None of the characters are depicted in any show. I make sure that hair color style everything‘s different from shows, colors characters everything. Yet they consistently take a listing down, then take days and put it back up when it’s showing I’m not copyright infringing on anyone still it’s extremely annoying. I’m thinking about caving and just building up my Shopify website….already started working on it today before three necklaces got taken down. 😅now I’m more motivated then ever. I’m putting everything that was taken down by Etsy back on my store.
Hey Amy I'm curious is Etsy worth trying? I'm seeing so many videos on Etsy. Some say do it, some say no. I have a business I am just really starting called Perkins Plaques and More I sell laser engravings, but also have cricut air 2 and I do a lot of vinyl work. So I have a lot of items I can sell on there. Is it hard to set up? I appreciate all of your videos especially your problems with Etsy. I'm super glad you got Etsy back. I need to learn how to do all the shipping and how to package a tuff as well. Thanks again for your videos.
Yes, definitely go for it. I been selling on Etsy for about 9 years, before anyone knew what Etsy was. I never had a problem. Just don't sell copyright items and you should be fine.
Well, now that I'm reading everyone's comments, maybe wait a while. It appears as though there's some type of glitch going on. They need to solve that!
I'm late to the party but it seems like Etsy had a glitch and closed a lot of shops by accident. But, it also seems that they don't hold their sellers in enough esteem to communicate with them when they make a mistake. Too bad.
This just shunned me away from Etsy but now I have no where to turn... I have a small business that has gone downhill during Covid. I don't use any social media like Instagram, Facebook, or even Pinterest. I thought I was going to make more money to pay for advertising but Covid proved me wrong 😅 How do I share my small business website without using social media? Or are there other sites I can make a shop on to sell similar to Etsy?
It has to be something with the vacation mode. Today I put my shop in vacation mode because I’m going to be leaving for a month and as soon as I did it I got the email that my account is permanently suspended. I’m just in awe honestly and idk what to do to get it back.
eBay Etsy etc are like someone who used to be trendy helpful and cool that turned into selfish greedy money grabbing fatcats. Like you said, someone blanks you do you take them back? Ha! 👍😎❤️
Thank you for posting this! I just got my shop deactivated and they also did not leave me a reason why. I am so sad. I am glad on your decision! I also made my own website and its a lot harder but I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Could there be the slightest chance that people get frowned upon and put in “time out” if they use the “vacation mode”. It seemed so close to the time you got sick and used that feature I wonder if it either triggered something or if this is a policy that they temporarily or permanently put people on hold for using that feature.
Good for you I happy this open your eyes and for me too I will not get a Etay shop because people love copyright stuff like Disney, cartoon characters, sayings from a show that they love and if your making it by hands than it shouldn't be a problem the real problem is that the company need to change the way they do things or there going to lose more people and money and have already ask the owner if it ok for new and old arts to use it so they can get more people
I just started working on a shop an it got shut down after 2 days...FOR NOTHING....NO EMAIL...Forget it they treat their sellers like crap....wont buy off their platform anymore either...
@@AmyMakesThat Just now I've checked and they reactivated my account. No communication or notification or apology (lol) of any kind. I think I'm gonna cash in and make me a Shopify shop or something. I don't think I can take many more of these emotional rollercoasters. Thanks for your feedback Amy.
Love your vids , you really inspire ppl do go for their goals in life 😊 i just wondered something and i rly hope you get to read this :p ur vids actually inspired me to open up a shop and doing my research this suddenly came to me.... most ppl use mailinglists and stuff to promote or get custommers to come back bit in those policies i seen that no platform allows you to actually use ppl's emails or their dm's or whatever to promote stuff , maybe that's what happend ? I don't know but just had to ask 😅 rly hoping to see more of your vids , love em ! ❤😊
Sounds like someone messed up over at Etsy and said, "Um...this is bad publicity for us." We want all want to believe that's the case, but who knows. I was considering starting a shop on Etsy but because of some of the things I've been hearing about them, they aren't worth the headache. I'll find some other avenue to sell.

option 3- Etsy doesn't know what it is doing... your account could be banned for no reason at all... at any time.
That is so fucked up. I'm happy that your friend was able to come out of it. My god.
therefore one should never be dependent on a source of income
The funny thing is people copy ideas all the time on Esty that sell well.
I think etsy has just turned into a corporation. It used to be a community
Best decision you have made!! Im proud of you!! Thank you for your honesty!! 👏 God Bless you!!
You did the right thing. I was going to start an Etsy shop but hearing what they put you through as well as other Etsy shop owners who were also banned, no way. Thank you so much for sharing your unfortunate experience with Etsy. Wishing you all the best.
You are a brave, passionate and ambitious young woman. You are already successful.
YAY!!!! :)))) All I did was Google your shop! And I'm like wait a second....... I need to let her know I can see her shop!!! :))))
hahaha omg THANK YOU. so much!! seriously can't thank you enough lol!
Everyone has told me to use Etsy for my woodworking side business... I was on the fence, but after watching the "Saga of Amy" series, I am definitely not. (also, yes, I made it all the way to the end 'Hey, wyd" hehe.
Etsy lost a good one! Shame on them and their dodgy platform!!! I wish you well in all your endeavours 💚
Same thing happened to me about 10 days ago. I think Etsy needs to put some of their staggering profits into seller support.
You’re brave & awesome! Please continue to make videos on how to use cricut and diy products!
By the way, I have such respect for your courage and that you stood up for your principals.
Random thought, but maybe it had something to do with the famous Irish folk-punk band, The Pogues. Maybe that's where the crossover occurred? Total speculation. Either way, congrats on being vindicated.
Thank you for sharing your story with us! I also love your transparency! I pray for your continued success. 🙏🏾God bless!
Thank you for sharing your experience! I completely support your decision regarding your etsy shop. Good luck on your journey on your blog. I look forward to your videos :)
thank you for watching! and thank you so much 💕
Thank you for sharing your story.
Very mature of you. Love the way you handled this!
So glad for you but I think it's crazy what etsy does to people by shutting their store without any reason
Lesson learned, great move on your part! 💯
definitely was! and thank you :)
honestly maybe making the video help in this case!! awesome that you have your account back
I think so too!! and thank you!
Good for You! Self-worth and knowing when to walk away!
So happy to know you're back on Etsy. Congratulations!!!
I just created my website as a new home.
great decision on your part and i'm so sorry yours was suspended too. hopefully your website is even more successful! xo
Report them to bbb
Hey do you get back your account?
Still no emails? This is not a company to do business with, activated, deactivated, reactivated, radioactive, whatever.
My account got deactivated today! Just after I got an email from them that my campaign is on! It’s confusing,
I’m so happy that you got your shop back. I see your point of view but I don’t agree. I think you should rebuild your Etsy shop but also have your website so that if it’s ever taken down again your not losing everything. When your knocked down you don’t stay down you come back and go full beast mode.
I got suspended the other day still no email.
Thanks for your videos...
they deactivated mine today and i just shipped out an order :( don’t even know if i will get the deposit ...
Damn, that happened to my daughter too!
That's disgusting behaviour from them!!!
Did you every get your last deposit? I got deactivated today as well right after I shipped an order
That's so weird! Did any of you find out why?
@@MoniLuv1978 did you ever get paid for what you did ship out? My shop hit a big boom a few days before random shutdown and I can't even get an answer on how to fulfill orders. Only 1/3 of remaining orders payments have been transferred to my bank the others were awaiting deposit date.
I’m glad you’re not going back to Etsy. I don’t believe Etsy really cares about creators since they went public. Not to mention that all their fees are excessive and hurt handmade creators just trying to make a living off their art.
Totally. My husband and I made sure to sell all our shares in their despicable brand.
Any thank you for the info on the business stuff. Like checking a quote. Appreciate your videos!
This kind of treatment from a company, similarly from an individual person, is abuse. RUN from this. No guarantee they won’t do it again.
You have got to be kidding! LOL The whole time the thing was just on vacation. OMG my goodness so glad to see you are back in business! lol
WOW, I was going to open an Etsy shop, but not after reading this, there is NOTHING positive to say about them!
I'm late to the party but it seems like Etsy had a glitch and closed a lot of shops by accident. But, it also seems that they don't hold their sellers in enough esteem to communicate with them when they make a mistake. Too bad.
Especially considering how much money they take from each purchase
This just shunned me away from Etsy but now I have no where to turn...
I have a small business that has gone downhill during Covid. I don't use any social media like Instagram, Facebook, or even Pinterest. I thought I was going to make more money to pay for advertising but Covid proved me wrong 😅
How do I share my small business website without using social media? Or are there other sites I can make a shop on to sell similar to Etsy?
It has to be something with the vacation mode. Today I put my shop in vacation mode because I’m going to be leaving for a month and as soon as I did it I got the email that my account is permanently suspended. I’m just in awe honestly and idk what to do to get it back.
That's me right now, my shop got closed one week after I opened it. No reason was given, no email...nada Good video btw!
Do they answer you or get it back?
Happy you got your shop back hun
How can i remove my banking off Etsy as I try to close the store
eBay Etsy etc are like someone who used to be trendy helpful and cool that turned into selfish greedy money grabbing fatcats. Like you said, someone blanks you do you take them back? Ha! 👍😎❤️
Etsy has lots of automation that locks accounts for incorrect reasons. You just have to play the etsy game to get it back.
Thank you for posting this! I just got my shop deactivated and they also did not leave me a reason why. I am so sad. I am glad on your decision! I also made my own website and its a lot harder but I'm glad I'm not the only one.
that's amazing! And I know right? the amount of people that went through the same thing you & i have gone through is alarming...
Could there be the slightest chance that people get frowned upon and put in “time out” if they use the “vacation mode”. It seemed so close to the time you got sick and used that feature I wonder if it either triggered something or if this is a policy that they temporarily or permanently put people on hold for using that feature.
I love it!! Scale your education biz.
It's scary that this can just happen with NO explanation after putting in so much work!
Good for you I happy this open your eyes and for me too I will not get a Etay shop because people love copyright stuff like Disney, cartoon characters, sayings from a show that they love and if your making it by hands than it shouldn't be a problem the real problem is that the company need to change the way they do things or there going to lose more people and money and have already ask the owner if it ok for new and old arts to use it so they can get more people
Kudos to you lass for sticking to your guns. What platform do you sell on now?
I just started working on a shop an it got shut down after 2 days...FOR NOTHING....NO EMAIL...Forget it they treat their sellers like crap....wont buy off their platform anymore either...
Etsy is shady af. I was just deactivated, but to be honest, even if they reactivated me right now, I would never feel safe in that platform again.
couldn't agree more! exactly why I left once they reactivated my account.
I was wondering if the closures were due to COVID? Are any of your lessons on Skillshare? Thank you and great job!
