The amount of motors that are gonna burn out this season is gonna be crazy
If people try and use greens for the climb, yeah, that's going to be bad for the motors, especially on all-steel robots.
I need to inventory our Aluminum, we're going to be airplane mechanics this year I guess.

This season’s looking like it will promote some pretty innovative designs from all the teams involved. Personally, I think I’m going to build an attack helicopter and mount 2 or 3 AGM-65 Mavericks onto it and play defensive the entire time, but we might try exploring teleportation technology sometime in the future.

I can see how this could be pretty anticlimactic for seniors, but as an upcoming freshman this is a gift from the gods

I feel like this could go two very different ways. either it will become an amazing time where many people stand a solid chance, or it will become a game with too many technicalities to abuse. exited to see how this plays out.
Yeah i hope there isn’t a blatant meta that people come up with, i really hope that we see many different designs this year.

I just wanted a watergame for my senior year :(
Just finished a small league tournament, the amount of technicalities that can be abused is insane, like intentionally getting other bots to flip you over for a win or dropping the team’s acorns in front of their goal.
I sense claw bots won't be so useless for this

when the code is on pause commands like motor hold and stuff still run so as long as your robot can hold itself with no user input you will stay hanging

Gods, this is going to be even more of a nightmare to score than last year. Some interesting dynamics, though.

No shot, strong was such a nightmare. Only thing that's slightly confusing is elevation
it feels similar ngl, with 2 different ways to score and an endgame. In some sense, its easier to score as there aren't rollers which are an additional source of points
At least there won’t be rollers that are inconsistent across fields

This game is going to be the perfect balance of difficulty and interest. The endgame is going to be so much more interesting (and easier to count) than last year. Great game for the first year of HS vex!

Nah crescendo’s (the next frc game for anyone who doesn’t know) definitely going to be a water game, and that’ll be this year. In all seriousness we all know a water game is going to happen anywhere.
This eerily reminds me of a FTC game from a couple years ago, but with diffrent scoring objects and a net instead of a goal

Best of luck to the competitors for this year. I Graduated highschool in 2021, and Haven't been able to compete in vex since. this is one of the most interesting and fun things I had in highschool. Make these memories count!

Wait this game actually sounds fine, the only thing is the endgame point scoring is confusing to me, but all will be answered on may 4th I believe, when the game manual come out.
The scoring kinda confusing too cuz idk why there net is it prevent some robot throwing? I want know rules too because I have design but idk it against the rules yet

I wish VEX would either film the game videos for real, or use cool animation like they used to with flying robots ect. The opening shot was cool though. Also at 2:25 robot slides without wheels turning lol. 🤖

Welcome to the 2023-2024 VEX Robotics Competition Season, and this year’s game: VRC Over Under! Over Under is a head-to-head game played by two alliances - one red and one blue - made up of two teams each. The primary game objects in VRC Over Under are plastic, acorn-sharped triballs with a primary dimension of just over 6 inches. There are 60 triballs total in an Over Under match: 1 preload per robot, 12 on the field, and 22 match loads per alliance. There are 2 netted goals on opposite sides of the field. A 3-inch PVC barrier divides the field into a red offensive zone and a blue offensive zone. Each triball score in a goal is worth 5 points, and each triball which makes it into an offensive zone is worth 2 points. Robots can pick up additional triballs from the field or retrieve them from match load zones that are in the far corners of the field. However, robots may only possess one triball at a time. Matches begin with a 15 second Autonomous Period where robots operate without input from their drivers. During the Autonomous Period, alliances must keep one robot in their offensive zone and one robot in their opponents’ offensive zone. Robots begin with one alliance-colored triball as a preload. This alliance triball always counts towards the same color alliance as the triball, regardless of where it is scored. The Alliance who scores the most points during the Autonomous Period will earn a bonus of 8 points. Alliances may also earn an additional Autonomous Win Point by completing certain tasks during the Autonomous Period.

Will there be a punishment if an opposing team steals from a goal if both robots aren’t in the offensive zone? If so, this can be abused
there’s obviously going to be a punishment it would make the double zoning rule irrelevant otherwise
