    The lav placement instruction toward the end of this video was very helpful. I’ve been using mine wrong all along by placing it too high. I will definitely lower it closer to the sternum. Thank you for the pro tip.

    This video is stellar, quality content that provides value. I’ve got a dual XS Wireless and a single XS Wireless and 3 body packs, but didn’t know how to position lavs properly - this is a game-changer, thanks. I also didn’t know about layer multiple mic types like boom and lav. Rad.

    Thanks. A helpful video with a clear explanation then reinforced by a good demo of multiple lav positions with associated solo sounds. possibly the best explanation of lav positioning, with a clear demo of why, that I have seen on RUclips.
    Minor point, you talked the benefits of a downward facing lav (logical) but always kept all your lavs in this video facng upwards! In the UK, I note that BBC newscasters quite often have dual lavs facing down (possibly OCD redundancy?) whilst other TV stations typically use lavs pointing upwards, when the lavs aren't hidden. Possibly that's a pedantic point driven by preferences and habits of one sound engineer vs another?

    Very helpful video! Thank you for the clear explanation. The idea to layer the lav mic with the boom mic had never occurred to me to create natural sound. When is this appropriate to use? Thanks for the tip!

    3:21 What's that boom mic doing here? Is the video recorded with shotgun mic, and not lavalier? It seems strange that you have a promotional video about lavalier, but still feel the need to record your audio with shotgun mics.

      9:09 oh, you've been combining the sound of the lav and the boom. I see. Nevermind my question then!

    does the G4 record or just transmit to a recording device

    • @robb.blumenreder
      @robb.blumenreder 2 года назад

      EW G4 doesn't offer on-board recording, but UHF wireless is among the most reliable you can use... it has a steeper learning curve than the plug & play options like XSW-D (2.4 GHz) and AVX (1.9 GHz DECT), but it also gives you more control. Definitely worth watching some tutorials to get the most out of these systems, no matter which one you decide works best for you.
