    I have been detecting for over 50yrs, beware of what you see on these RUclips channels. They are paid to put these certain machines on there. I hunt with the Deus 2, Minelab Manticore, Nokta Legend & Minelab 900. If your looking for a good beginner metal detector for the money, look at the Nokta Simplex Ultra. I am 71 and not being paid anything to say this.

      What would you recommend for archeology? I live in a town with a lot of untouched ancient history, from the romans, 2 thousand years ago, medieval sites from the 1000s mentioned in the doomsday book, all the way up to 13th 14th, 15th and 16th century sites, some of which still have open pubs to this day lol, just nobody here cares, and the towns constantly being developed and built over, so it’s soon to be lost forever unfortunately

    Ok, I admit that I'm not a detector person, but I bought one for 25 dollars at a pawn shop for one reason only, to find my 4 survey pins from 1954. I wanted to put up a fence, but didn't want to pay a professional surveyor to find them. After finding them, now I want to look for more things.

      Turns out, these "pins", which were originally 8 inches above ground and about 12 inches below. The pin is embedded in a cylinder of concrete approximately the diameter of an old tin coffee can. The top was removed years ago ( probably by owners who were tired of hitting them with their lawn mower) .the remenent was 5 to 6 inches below ground. I put a galvanized pipe with a cap for future home owners.

    Ive a Garret AT pro ,love it just remember folks the average depth of things is about 8 inch and the lower end detectors are quite capable of finding stuff even the modest garret 150 which is readably priced . And the real kicker is , is that if you spend over a grand for a detector your not guaranteed to find the find of a lifetime you have to be over the top of it to start with ,so choose wisely .

      AB, have you bought a detector yet? If not, go with the Bounty Hunter TK4. It's under your budget and will do anything the high dollar detectors will do EXCEPT you can't let the control box get wet. Get a pinpointer too. It'll save you tons of time. Bounty Hunter's pinpointer and the TK4 will keep you at your $150 budget. I have the cheaper little brother of the TK4, the Fast Tracker. The only real difference between the two is that the TK4 has a low battery warning. I assume you're a beginner? Dig everything at first. It won't take long to learn what your machine is telling you. Also, when you can afford it, get a set of headphones. I bought a set off eBay. They were what they call "new old stock" and looked like they were intended for a school classroom, but they came in the original package and had an adapter for different size jacks. Paid $25 for them and they work just fine. Start out in your backyard. I've found coins, 2 gold rings and even a Revolutionary War cannonball, all in my backyard with a detector that listed for $75 when I got it. You don't need bells and whistles, you just need practice. For example, one of the detectors in this video can let you know when you're over an iron target. What's the point? You're likely not going to dig that target anyway. You can do the same with the TK4, just use it in the "All metal" mode. The only thing I can't speak to is how the Bounty Hunter machines perform around salt water, but they have their own RUclips page as does American Detection. You'll learn a lot on those channels and they're quick to respond if you have a question. Get out there and have some fun.

      I have an old bounty hunter that I use I do waist more time than that of my buddy who has a Garrett. But with a good pinpointer you will be fine. I'm In the market for a new one and it's so hard to pull the trigger on spending a few hundred dollars on a detector. I'm careless with my shit and know I'll be tossing in the back of the truck and in water and Mudd. Mine is my dad's so it's probably 20 years old and still working

    • @CD-hc5ds
      @CD-hc5ds Год назад

      If your just interested in detecting for something to kill time go with a Bounty Hunter. If someone tells you their on par with a higher end detector, they might just be High themselves! Your not gunna get much for $150 bucks, your best bet would be to save your money & go with a used Equinox 800. MineLab just released the 900 & Manticor, I imagine Nox 800 users will be looking to upgrade & mabe sell their 800s. Best advice i can give from 25years + experience.

  •  9 месяцев назад

    They are trying to convince you that their machines can tell you what it is before you dig?
    There isn't a machine made yet that can do that.
    You can spend a bunch of money and dig up the same things I do.
    My detector holds two 9 volt batteries!
    It has three settings, fierious, nonferrous, and all metals..
    What more do you need?
    SERIOUSLY!
    If you don't dig, you don't know exactly what it is, and you never will.

For half that price you can buy a Nokta Makro Simplex, or a Minelab X-Terra Pro.
