Misty - Jazz Guitar Performance

- Here's an arrangement of the classic standard 'Misty' - there are tons of great recordings out there, but the one I first heard a few years ago was Johnny Mathis' version; the sound of which is definitely an inspiration here. I decided to create a subtle 'trio' style backing track for this rendition, adds a little juice and fills out the solo section. I also tend to play rubato a lot so the backing keeps me in check!
Thanks for watching.

Guitar:
Fender Nashville Deluxe Telecaster w/Radioshop ID pickups, Chris Buck Strat pickup in the middle
Recording & Audio:
HX Stomp for everything - Audio interface, amp sim, effects
Logic - A touch of EQ and compression on the guitar, stock sounds to create the backing track
Video:
iPhone 14's cinematic mode, hence the slight abberation around the edges of the headstock etc
A tasty, atmospheric rendition without a load of dizzying improvisation. Inspires relaxation. Excellent .
Amazing.
My dad used to play this song all the time and it got me into music a lot. He used to play and I’d fall asleep next to him watching. I have never gotten quite good enough to play this like you are. Great job
That's a lovely memory to have of your dad, it is a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing.
Could listen all day.
Very kind, thank you!
Such a great sound, i was so relaxed
Only one word came out from my mouth after listened is "wow"~
Great arrangement performed by a very talented jazz guitarist. A very pleasurable listening experience.
Thanks for the kind words!
This is unreal. Simply spectacular.
Thanks so much!
One of my favorite jazz standards! Excellent performance, I love the sound of the telecaster.
Hey, thanks a bunch! It's certainly a favourite of mine, thanks for the kind words.
And they say Teles/single-coils aren't suitable for jazz. Great example of how brightness and clarity can produce amazing result with a character of its own. Oh, and great playing, BTW. Loved both the arrangement and the performance. Wish I could play like this.
Thanks so much, means a lot! I've been playing this song for a few years, starting with a simple chord melody and it's evolved over time. The more flourished parts add some intrigue, but there's always beauty even in the most simple version.
Great!!

Beautiful rendition of one of my favorite standards. Well done! And I agree...no one does it like Johnny Mathis! You really captured that vibe here quite well.

I love your arrangement, super sound for the Tele, hard to believe no amp! Well done!
Thank you! I still love playing through a real amp occasionally but the HX stomp is my daily driver these days and has been for quite a while.
I expected a dryer tone, the playing is excellent, great job!
Ho man ! please do some more videos ! You're so good 🙂
You took much from Gianluca Mantovanelli! But you added your touch lovely. So fresh, so clean! Soft and cloudy! Superb interpretation, bravissimo!
Wow, what a great spot! Luca's an incredible player, I love the way he approaches the B section so couldn't resist borrowing a little to try and add it into my own vocabulary. Glad the rest of it passed the vibe check, thanks!
Complimenti, iscritto volentieri!
Beautiful rendition of this famous song. Very skillful playing by this guitarist who uses complex chords & fresh solos to get that right feeling in this tune version. SL
That’s so great! Is it possible if you have a music score for this that you can share ?
