- Unboxing and using the LNS 150A injection molding machine for the very first time.
The PIM-SHOOTER™ Model 150A, Toggle Clamp, plastic pellets, and mold frame were purchased from here:
www.techkits.com/
Special thanks to LNS Technologies for the MakerBot mold and samples!
This machine can inject a variety of plastics, including ABS, Acetal, PLA, HDPE, PS PP, LDPE, TPE, and EVA. It allows for the use of cheaper aluminum molds, as well as DIY silicone and epoxy molds in blank aluminum frames. (3D Printed molds can be used, if you attach some type of metal interface to prevent melting of the printed part.)

My family and I are so grateful that I get to do this.
This is the most excited I've ever seen Craftsman about anything. It's pure craftin' energy. Also happy anniversary.
👏💖
Yes!!!!! Another video!!! I swear, Crafsman videos are one of the main reasons I even smile anymore.... Thank you Crafsman!!!!
My man, thank you! But I hope some more reasons to smile start trickling in. :) You've been a big encouragement to me.
Thought out my childhood and early adulthood I have been blessed to be influenced, taught, and been given joy by some of world's best. People we never deserved, but were still given. Carl Sagan, Bob Ross, Jim Henson, Steve Erwin, Mr Rogers, Mr Wizard.... literal giants in the world of entertainment, education, and pure joy.
Crafsman... as far as I am concerned, you stand shoulder to shoulder to them. We don't deserve you, but we were still graced with your presence.
We love you... and keep steady craftin'
He,heh,he…”thet’s not a woyf,…ne dets a woyf!” Nice Crafsman, as usual. Your information and way of working is inspirational to me, and obviously so many others. We love y’all ( you and your family) and hope that you will always continue,….STEADY CRAFFIN’. Happy late Anniversary to you and Mrs. Crafsman.
Crafsman's little 'alright' at the end of his videos never fails to bring a smile to my face. It's a little thing but I always look forward to it :)
Ben watching an episode everyday for the past week with my son and daughter. We crack up and learn how cool is that. This channel is awesome. 🔥 🔥 🔥
I’m going back and watching these old videos, and I am so lucky that I found the CrafsMan. He has my sense of humor, and has great advice for everyone.
Did anybody even get the subtle joke?
Crocodile Dundee "That's a knife!" ~~~ Crafsman "That's a wife!" Leads the imagination to lots of places!?!
Love You Crafsman!
Took me a minute on that one. Then I remember, "No, THAT'S a knife."
I was hoping somebody would get it.
Probably not my best joke so far, but I said there's GOTTA be another Crocodile Dundee fan out there. :)
@@TheCrafsMan Ha~ I don't think many people got it, I thought it was really funny! I wonder how many I've missed or have gone over my head in your past videos.
Love ya!
My first craftsman video. Loved it. Love his voice, editing. Very engaging and relaxing video.
No teasing, it's awesome to hear you so excited about a new manufacturing process.
Made my week, a day early!
Steadycraftn..... Saturday
I will never need the information about recycled plastics, but.... I still want to know, please tell me. Tell me all about the plastics.
It's exciting! Now when I go to the grocery store, I'm flipping over bottles and containers to see which plastic it's made of. :)
And the Precious Plastic stuff is a great resource! I'm using some of their info right now to set up a simple air filtering system for my shop.
had no clue what I was getting into watching a craftsman video but I absolutely loved it👍🏽
Everytime a new video comes out: Brightness? UP. Quality? UP. Dopamine? UP. Anxiety? GONE.
OK RUclips!!!!! THIS WAS THE BEST INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO I HAVE SEEN ON RUclips YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you are concerned with making quality figures with longevity, Crafsman. I got a pricey figure from a prominent manufacturer-first action figure I'd bought in 20 years-and right out of the box a swivel joint snapped in the hip. Snuffed that figure collecting spark right then and there. Of all the problems in the world, I'm happy to take that privileged one, but I'm glad you're not going to be doing that to folks who lay down the dough to purchase one of your figures. Right on, man.
I appreciate this so much. There's the argument that since "designer figures" are sold to people over 14 (to bypass the Consumer Product Safety certification) that they won't be played with, and strength shouldn't be that important. But even if it's never taken out of the package, I still really like the idea of a figure being as TOUGH as possible. :)
@@TheCrafsMan youve got the attitude of a true craftsman. those others are just making excuses for producing low quality product. they take no pride in their work.
Another devoted viewer who would love a video on recycling household or other reclaimed plastics. I have been following the precious plastics folks on n off for a while, I bet you know about them already. Thank you for your wonderful videos 🧡🧡🧡
I understand why you're so excited CrafsMan! When I was in high school I asked my daddy for ideas on what to do for my science fair project. He was a tool & die maker and machinist so my project ended up being about extrusion molding, stamping, injection molding and lots of other "how we make all the things" stuff lol. It was hard work, and took months, but he was a patient teacher (mostly lol), and we actually got to visit manufacturers and see the processes in action! I won second prize in the state science fair and he was so impressed with my work that he taught me how to use most of the machines in the shop. Sometimes this came with a "Don't tell your mother" warning. ;) Sorry this is so long, but I wanted you to know that your videos sometimes serve as more than fun and learning. :) Thank you, CrafsMan, keep on Steady Craftin' ♥️
I've have somehow stumbled across this blessing of a channel. I'm guessing he does a character, but if this is how he actually is everyday, he is a national treasure.
You are a blessing. one of the best channels around. Thank you for all that you do!
How could anyone downvote this? I had a smile on my face the whole time.
I could listen to this guy all day, his voice is like a lullaby! Just got into 3d printing, after doing molding and casting. Really want to top it off with injection molding. After working in and injection molding factory in the past. I think I could put some of that old knowledge to new use.
I freakin love hand puppets and all these creative channels so glad i was recommended
Crafsman, I worked at a plastics factory a couple of years ago, and seeing the color change moment brought the memory of doing a color swap mid-shift--we would use a so-called 'purge' mix that when loaded into the feed hoppers would push out the residual color from before, and then allow us to put the fresh mix to melt for the next product. We also routinely recycled scrap material with grinders that would make tiny chips that would then be fed back into the feed at a particular percentage, depending on the product. We would feed the machines from very large cardboard boxes with big vacuum hoses.
Hey Crafsman, I really appreciate your videos. It actually got me into starting my own etsy shop with my wife. I have been rewatching your videos and taking pointers. It also makes me really happy to see you excited about your new machine. I act the same way when it comes to 3D printers. I hope you are doing well!
Congratulations to y'all on the shop! :D This is a bigtime encouraging comment to me. THANK YOU for that! Wishing you guys the best with your business!
Crafsman is the kind of positivity i need in my life. It is like some Bob Ross or Mr Rogers just telling me i can be myself and craft what makes me happy.
Yes please, I would love to see a video about working with recycled plastic! If I ever get to the point where I'm cranking out my own toys, that's my dream!
A video about recycled plastics would be awesome!
I REALLY wanna see you grind up some bottles and mould some cool figures with em.
PET is known to be hard to work with, but I'd enjoy seeing him try anyway :)
By that I mean.. as much as I know about plastics from Precious Plastic, I think only Crafsman would be able to explain the properties of PET as a craft material in a way that I would understand. Maybe he'd find a clever way to work around the heat problem!
Now you can design and make tiny little model kits with the parts on tiny little sprues, sign me up!
Free range chicken Gundam!
@@lukasketner It's even better: ABS Free Range Chicken Gundam!
Crafsman is one step closer to running a toy factory from his shed!!!❤️❤️❤️ congrats on the mold injector Crafsman!!! Can’t wait to see next week’s video! P.S. we definitely need that recycling video
Yes please video on recycling plastics! With all the plastic pollution in the world I’ve been worrying ever since 3D printers came on the market.
The recycling ideas is tops, happy anniversary, and yes you enjoyed that topic as much as I, thank you.
Heck yeah we want a video with recycling and types of plastic! I can do research, but a craft-centric version isn't really available from what I've seen.
Also, I love your sign-offs. I still tell my sister I love the way her head is shaped.
my man saying "Excuse me" as he tips the jar of plastic off camera lmao ... most gentle youtuber ever hehe
Thanks! I'm a bronze guy that had been wanting to eventually branch out into some toys. This is awesome!
This is magical! I'm so happy for you! I know you've been wanting one of these for a while!
I'm so envious! This is all I ever wanted as a child. Can't wait for the next video.
I lost this channel a couple of months ago and I am so excited to have found it again :)
YES to the plastics video!!!!!! We NEED that video Crafsman!
Am I the only one who forgets about my problems just by watching this guy?
Most definitely not! These videos have the same effect on myself as well.
When I found the Crafsman about a month ago, I binged all the videos. When I'm super anxious, I watch a video.
I don't understand a word he is saying, but it calms me.
Elio Vittore nope ☺️
nope, these videos are a medicine
Now I can finally know what to do with the tons of support material I have from my 3D prints! Thank you very much for this video!
I recently reached out to LNS and they were not helpful with my questions. So I instead called up Manning Innovations, and I was surprised with how knowledgeable this very small shop was with Injection molding, and Ritchie over there walked me through EVERYTHING I could possibly imagine! For those of yall looking into what the craftmans talkin about I highly recommend them!
Love to see a recycled plastics video. The thought of discarded lids being transformered into something uber awesome is very exciting.
The letter at 1:10 with the sound effect. Pure gold laughed more than 5 min and had to go back
I'd love to see the recycled plastic injection molding video that you mentioned might be a possibility. Thank you so much for all the knowledge, kindness and laughter that you share!
I have long been interested in at home diy injection molding so please keep these coming.
Man. Crafsman is so talented I wish I could make figures like he can. And his creativity is never ending. Crafsman keep it up 👍
Yeah I'd like to see that video about different types of plastics, thanks Crafsman!
Injection molding? You are living the dream, CrafsMan! I am excited for you, and I can't wait to see what you create with this!
Super cool to see this bench-top injection molding! I'd love to see some recycled plastic action figures.
This has got to be my new favorite channel, thank you for your enthusiasm and charisma, it really makes me happy, seeing as this is my profession and it's good to see that other people have passion like I do
I'm really happy you talked about recycling plastic. Pretty please with sugar on top talk about this subject more. I'm sure Precious Plastic (get yourself a badge as a recycled plastic artist!) or PlasticPrenuer would love to have you plug their efforts to get people interested in recycling plastic and making it into something useful a precious to them
i saw injection molding in an instagram commercial and thought: Hey, thats interresting! going to youtube searching for it... first video showin up : CRAFSMAN!!! now that’s a win! 😃. thank you! 🙋♂️
So glad I discovered you, CrafsMan. You're why I started working on my own toys. ^^
Love your video cutting style Mr. Crafsman. Very snappy!
And yes, a recycling-focused video would be appreciated.
I love this guy, watched the whole dang video and forgot about dinner....I never forgets dinner.
Id love to see recycled plastic turned into toys!
Second!
Third!
I've added it to my list. Thank y'all! :D
Wonder if we can make a robot from a milk jug. Probably! :D
The music in this episode was top notch. Really makes the video for me.
Polyhedral dice, Crafsman! Dungeons and Dragons game dice! That’s where it’s at! Get you a mold made and go to town!
You can get them with literally anything in now-a-days. I'm surprised someone hasn't proposed by putting the ring inside one.
@@Fractus lol probably cause it is too expensive, but you could probably get one in a chonky d20. Most people hand making dice out there spend very little on actual material, most of them even use entry level cheap resin.
Don't dice have to go through a special process to ensure even weight distribution to remove bias? That might only be casino dice, but I was under the impression all dice were
Steam-Powered Fox no. It isn’t crucial for gaming dice. Real money isn’t really won or lost with them. There are tons of dice production outfits, most of which use injection molding.
@@SteamPoweredFox That's a big fat no. Casino dice are made to insanely exacting standards, and have to be as close to perfectly fair as possible. That's why they cost so much despite being machine made.
Tabletop gaming dice just have to be "close enough". Most major manufacturers even put out dice where you can find uneven faces, or very small air bubbles, fairly often.
I love your videos. Its like short hand for hours of research in case I ever want to do these things. You are very enjoyable to watch and learn. Thanks Crafsman!!
Great work as always. A video explaining the different plastics would be awesome.
Crafsman, you are so cool! I want to see the recycling video you spoke about. Never stop steady craftin'!
Happy Anniversary to you and the Mrs.
Your enthusiasm is infectious. I have picked up some old projects and have been reworking the ideas so I can make them. Between this yt channel and.the facebook I'm really inspired to get busy. Thanks so much, live ya
Nice video CrafsMan! With the injection machine you will make the figures more quickly and reduce the bubbles, my father use a similar machine long ago to make dental prostetics, it was so much fun to watch! Please take care and keep stready craftin'
This feels like a huge game changer for you Crafsman. I look forward to seeing where this takes us.
What fun! Happy for you...Glad you got your injection molding equipment! Craft on, brother👍💕
Definitely would love a vid on what plastic can be recycled regarding injection molding and such! So fascinating! Thanks for the inspiration!
This is one of the best moments of my life in which your channel has made it so. Thank you for such innovative content.
You don't know how much joy these videos bring me. Your personality and voice are so pleasant, it makes my day every time you post a video.
Craftsman, you're the best!
I'd love to see a video on the different types of plastics!
As someone who does a lot of FDM printing with PLA the possiblity of being able to use failed prints to make injection molded parts is very very exciting.
It's nice to hear a reprise of the Hundo Thou Thou song. 😀 Congrats on finally pursuing your dream of injection molding! Looking forward to seeing all the neat crafs you'll make with this mess right here.
You are a true craftsman. From the careful procedures to the beautiful video editing, it's all very satisfying to watch. Thanks!
Yes please do a video on the different types of plastics. You'll make it far more enjoyable than some of the other videos on the topic. I was going to suggest you making a video on using HDPE jugs and containers for figures but it seems you beat me to the punch. Looking forward to the next video!
As a Brit, I could listen to this voice forever.. reminds me of tree trunks from Adventure Time.
You know what..? Pen Ward is a friend of Crafsman... what if TT is inspired by him? :O
Just your intro and I'm already smiling. Love you CrafsMan!❤
I would love one of these for creating wearable hardware... but you are SO RIGHT about the aluminium moulds... they cost SO MUCH to make. And having a CNC at home is out of the question.
The Craftsman and an injection molding machine are truly a perfect match. ✌😁
An episode about recycled plastics would be awesome!
You have an injection machine and all I can think is "Crafsman, whaaaaat, you're crazy". Much love to the Crafsfam.
CrafMan, i love watching your videos. I used multiple mediums to craft as well. The best part is when you can blend them together. I can't wait for the next video.
As someone that owns a manual bench top injection molding machine I'm looking forward to your next video. Machining your own metal molds is time consuming (and making metal filled epoxy molds is as well). Technology has finally reached the point where we can create 3d printed mold inserts at a relatively affordable price. ....better late than never.
Crafman you are the best your videos are super relaxing besides entertaining and very creative you are the best and greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
I didn't know I needed this channel. Pretty sweet, how have I not seen this before.
Love your excitement about work flow optimization. Amazing montage!
Love you Crafsman! I'd love to see a video about which plastics to use for recycling etc. Big thanks!!

My man...don't forget Jim Henson. 👊😉
I think it's very important to have a video about which plastics to use. So we can be sure that people avoid using plastic bottles or other dangerous materials
I’m so happy for you. You deserve to have nice stuff, you work so hard.
Yes!!!! Recycle video! Crafman saves the world!
I've heard the different plastics explained before, but an explanation from you would probably stick in my brain better.
I vote for a recycle/plastics video! Loved this one and curious for more.
Dear Mr. TheCraftsman Steadycrafting, you got yourself a new follower! I like you style. I also have a tip: some plastics needs to dry before injection molding. PP and most of the thermoplastic elastomers (tpe) don't have to dry. ABS for example must be dried on 80°C for around 4 hours. Also be careful with the fumes and glasses, especially with POM! That material releases strong concentration of formaldehyde. Looking forward to seeing you injection mold again.
This is so cool! Add me to the list of people who want to see a video about using recycled plastics!
Also, is it just me, or does it seem like maybe Crafsman has his mold lateral stop (dunno the actual name... it's the hex-head bolt with the black knob on the end, used to keep the mold in place horizontally) installed backward? Seems like the black plastic knob would be intended for touching fingers, not a (potentially) hot metal mold.
You are 100% right about the mold stop. Plastic knob end should go to the outside, metal to the inside (touching the mold).
It hasn't caused any issues, but it is COMPLETELY backwards. (Well, it WAS... in the video. Fixed now.)
Can't believe I even set it up that way. I'm going to pin your comment for educational purposes. Thank you! :)
@@TheCrafsMan +1 for the plastics vid!
@@TheCrafsMan Loving your videos (I just subbed), and how you say sweet stuff about your wife at the end of each video :). I'm also an artist/toy maker, and I'm considering investing my stimulus checks into an injection mold setup since art is my living (been casting with resin since 2008)...the main thing holding me back is I am hoping to find a slightly larger machine, but mainly I want a affordable way I know will work well for creating the molds. I know you're planning on releasing a video on creating the silicone mold for inside the metal mold frame...but do you mind telling me if you're having any issues with the cast pieces being warped from the pressure of the injector? I am really eager to get one of these, and I'm trying to find out more about the possibility of doing silicone molds. Thanks for your time, and the awesome videos, you're a sweetheart! This is my Instagram if you'd like to see my art toys and sculpts in progress :) instagram.com/meadowknightcreations/ .
@@angelapileggi6031 Hello there! I really like how you're thinking. I completely understand the desire to go for a larger shot size. (If you're feeling very adventurous, you can look at the designs used by Precious Plastics and them. Fairly LARGE parts are possible with that setup.) As far as the silicone mold, I'm editing that video now and I can say that, even with Mold Star (not designed for heat), I've had repeated success. The possible down-side (and it's different for each mold - chunky vs. thin parts) is the hold-down time is extended, to keep pressure against the object while it cools. Cooling may take longer (silicone vs. metal) and melted plastic will want to come back out the top. Not a huge issue.
BUT, I'm also going to mention in the video - and will tell you now - that things like Mold Max 60 (more firm, withstands over 500 degree heat) or high-heat EPOXY... probably even better! :)
I appreciate your kind words, and I sincerely hope this information is helpful to you in your upcoming (ad)ventures! :D
@@TheCrafsMan Thank you so much, that's a huge help :D! I have been contacting a bunch of people left and right, and contacted Reynold's Advanced materials where I get my molding and casting supplies, and they suggested the Mold Max 60 as well! That is super encouraging that you've been having success :). Having to have a little more cool down time is not too bad of a thing, it's still gotta be way faster than the resin slinging we do. I will look into Precious Plastics too and see what they're up to, or if there's anything they have within my budget if they're selling equipment, thanks for the lead! And thanks for the friend request on FB :).
Thank you for this video. I'm investigating home injection molding and this has been extremely helpful.
So glad to hear it, Graham! :D Thank you for watching!
Everyday is a great day, doubly so with a new crafsman video.
As always, this just made my day. I'll be smiling today, thank you
Thank you TheCrafsMan. I treasure your videos.
