What if the pestilence is rage? The people he kills are always angry, like Dr Morstead, and the ape he cured was entirely unable to feel rage. He remarked that the foundation had less pestilence than the outside, and scientists of the SCP foundation are often very calm and calculated.

Yeah that was annoying to me when I was making the theory, but remember he just took notes on all of those reanimations, like they were failed experiments. I think he failed every reanimation until the ape. That’s why he kept requesting more animals, so he could keep trying to succeed.

It's amazing how they keep sending in tactical teams with assault rifles considering most of the SCP's are immune to being shot.

Also a lot of SCPs can be shot into submission.
I find it hilarious how he just kills people but everyone is still nice to him because he's technically the least problematic and stress inducing scp, don't give staff trouble when being detained and you'll get a slap on the wrist for killing two people.
I think it was their natural response to his charisma and appeared reason. They were reckless to trust him after the 1st doctor's death.

Scp 049 doesn't seem evil. He believes that the world is diseased and he tries to cure it the way he knows how. He's one of my favourite of all the scps.
He’s just cool and I like his appearance and just his character in general that’s why he’s one of my favorite
The nicest of them all was the scp ‘Miss J’ a virtual animated teacher who after teaching students makes them super intellectuals depending on the subjects they learnt from her and it makes them grow into successful people (with no negative or sinister side effects or motives) she just wants the best for her learners.

Weird thought here, we’ve witnessed that 049 can turn people into zombies, but it doesn’t turn every one into zombies. He claims to be trying to cure the pestilence. What if he can only turn people with the pestilence into zombies?
As far as I can tell rage seems to be the pestilence, I think he might be killing people in a way that's without any form of Gore and fairly quick, literally a single touch, in order to have them perfectly at his mercy to operate upon without any concern for their well being or time constraints and then somehow revives them from the dead as the equivalent of a very f***** u* surgery. the zombie is supposed to be cured of aggression and he was doing extensive biological research in trying to cure rage. the zombies being violent is the by product of research he thinks is worth it. the orangutan was success than the chemical that stopped his death touch created a new bio defense for the pestilence
I think the Plague Doctor had been killed in the war and been revived with the sole purpose of stopping wars. And to stop wars he’d been studying on how to remove the emotion of rage or anger from living creatures but failing to do so until he went into the Foundation. He realized in the foundation that most animals didn’t have the capability of feeling rage and murderous, but rather only Humans do which is why he asked for a close relative to humans. Really interesting guy.

If you haven't read the original file you totally should!! There are several addendums and more details on how he's contained and how he interacts with the staff. This is one of the best versions of it I've seen but honestly the original entry is SO GOOD. It's one of the more detailed SCP and one of my favorite.

In a way, SCP-049 is pretty well mannered and behaved. If you just cleared the whole pestilence thing he would be a great doctor/researcher.
SCP-049 really is the best SCP, yes his logic is a bit sideways but with an SCP being so formal and respectful you can't say that he's not a worthy contender of being the nicest one. Of course that goes to SCP-999. But he wasn't lying about a pandemic. He called it! He called Corona!

SCP-049, also referred as to the Plague Doctor, is a major character in the SCP Foundation series. He is a Euclid-class object under the Foundations containment. He is a humanoid figure that resembles a 15th-16th century European Plague Doctor, with a black robe with a white-beaked mask.
This is my favorite one so far! I would actually love to have a long in-depth discussion with him.

Remember that this version of the Plague DR is dramatized. As far as any other story is concerned the Dr is not superhuman in any sense of the word bullets don't bounce off him like superman. He doesn't leap over tall buildings in a single bound. However his touch , and ability to make items he imagines appear are more like a magic.
