Hayduke Route Hite to Capitol Reef National Park
In this section I navigate cross-country through the Red Benches, carry over 6 liters of water for a 30-mile dry stretch, become reunited with my tent poles, see Elk and Bison on trail, and end in Capitol Reef with a semi-destroyed food cache and a fall down slickrock!
Path for this section: dirt roads through Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, cross country through the Red Benches in Fiddler Butte Wilderness Study Area, drop into Fiddler Cove Canyon, Dirty Devil River bypass through Hatch Canyon, climb out of Hatch Canyon onto Poison Springs/North Hatch Canyon Road, through Poison Springs Canyon to Hwy 95. Hitched to Hanksville for the night. Got dropped off by Hwy 95 near Little Egypt, BLM dirt roads across Pennellen Pass and over Tarantula Mesa, dropped into Muley Creek Canyon, cross country to Swap Canyon, entered Capitol Reef National Park, crossed Notom-Bullfrog Road, and up the Burr Trail switchbacks.
