A Big Thank You to you and your friends for such an excellent video. I love southern Utah so much and hope to move there someday. I especially want to thank you Randy for the excellent history and other information you provide about the park. While I was watching the video, I was listening to a wonderful Christian song called, "Steward Of His Creation". I can see a day when your outstanding videos will be a vehicle to bring people closer to God. Hopefully, these people will eventually accept Christ as their Lord and Savior ..... I visited Capitol Reef a few months ago. My favorite trail was Navajo Knobs - it goes all the way to the top of the rim with great views the entire way. Lots of fun and way underrated compared to the other Utah parks. Wish I had time for some of these trails, but it gives me a reason to go back again.

Hi Randy. I wanted to share a short story with you this afternoon. I discovered your channel about 4 years ago by looking up Theodore Roosevelt NP. From the beginnings I was hooked. Loved seeing the videos with your family over the years. Anyway I got off a 3 day weekend from work and all these years later I finally made the trip up to visit T.R. N.P. Drove up from Rapid City yesterday morning and visited the southern unit and then today explored the north unit. It was a long time in the making but I had a great time, It’s been an unusually wet spring and everything was so green. Even had lunch yesterday in Medora at the saloon you and Kayla ate at. Thank you for the years of entertainment.

Randy, Glad you went back to the "Rodney Dangerfield" of the Mighty 5! Try the southern part of the park. I go through Boulder Utah and turn at the Hells Backbone Grill onto the Burr trail. In about 20 minutes you hit Long Canyon, winding road and high red cliffs. Once out of them it's a ways to the park entrance. You go along the switchbacks (done it 2x) where you can see the uplift. Once out of that you can go left back to UT 24 along the reef (Cedar Mess Campground half way up-free and a trail there) or south to Headquarters and Surprise Canyons, 2 slot canyons that dead-end. Then continue on to Bullfrog on Lake Powell. Great views going there. My favorite park in Utah, Benn there literally 1000 times in my life, even though I live in Connecticut.

Thanks for the kind words! We rented the ATV from "Hanksville Tours Adventure Center" - small operation, but friendly and reasonable with the price. Then we followed the guy out to Cathedral Valley Road as he towed the ATV - short drive, maybe 5-10 miles.

Looking at the beauty of God's creation, it makes me think that all this beauty, is the result of Noah's Flood. When God flooded the world, He could have made this world a dull ugly place, but even in His wrath and judgement He was merciful. He saved Noah and his family, and he created beautiful rock formations, mountains, and plains.
Someday, you should check out the Mickelson trail in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was originally a railroad line that was abandoned by the BN railroad in the 1980's. This is a great trail for biking, it has many railroad bridges and 4 tunnels. The scenery is great. It even goes by the Crazy Horse rock carving. It is easiest to go from North to South because overall the trail loses elevation the further south you go.

I agree that Capitol Reef is the unappreciated gem of Utah's Big 5 (with apologies to Glass Mountain). As much as I like the main section of Capitol Reef, I enjoy the section east of Boulder Utah even more! The drive through Long Canyon and then up & over the Reef is spectacular. The unpaved east side along the Burr Trail is also fascinating with many side canyons into the Reef. North heads up to Torrey & south to Lake Powell with the Henry Mountains beckoning to the east. It's all desolate high desert beauty!!😊
