The Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. I’ve been listening to it for nearly 50 years.
I was there. I still can't believe it.
Everyday for me.
I bought it for no reason other than that I liked the cover. Can't explain that but here I am, 50 years later and still listening.
@@abfranklin8492 I never saw them live. The album was recorded over several shows and mixed together with the jams that sounded the best to them at the time. According to what I’ve read, they never played these songs the same way twice. They were a jam band.
I fully agree bought this album in 1970 and still listening every week especially whipping post!!
i’m 16, and this is some of the best music i’ve ever heard. I’m a guitarist, and Jack Pearson absolutely rips.
oh, ya should heard Skydog, oh, he was Heaven on Earth, jűs sāyīn !😎✌😎!
I hereby pronounce that you possess a refined taste in music. When I was 16 (in 1969) I caught Taj in concert at Devonshire Downs in June in the broiling hot San Fernando Valley. Taj killed, as usual. That man's a natural showman. 200k people sitting on their asses in the dirt, no shade, hotter than f, but the music sure was good.Jimi Hendrix did a 3-hour set that same day, high as f on acid. Ike and Tina did a set as well.

I NEVER noticed Jack back there and I’ve been a fan of his and this video for years! Guess Taj takes most of the spotlight here. 😂😂😂
get a guitar and learn they are so cheap today
Jack Pearson - the Zeus of guitar gods. Man just rippin it on a $89 pawn shop Squier, I think he was Gregg's favorite guitar player besides Derek.
Been a Taj Mahal fan since I was 13 years old. He came out on stage with a stool and a banjo and started off by himself with Fishing Blues. Then the curtains came open and there was a full on band, horn section with Howard Johnson. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. When that horn section opened up it was on. Still love the man at 66.
I discovered the Allman brothers band my senior year in high school, and I have not been the same since. They are in my top four favorite bands. The original Allman brothers band line up with Willie Nelson and family would be the best concert ever.
So good, and that slide player is killin' it!! He does Duane proud.
Jack Pearson ... and he rips on a Squire Strat of all things !!
This entire concert was a huge blessing. To see everyone celebrating his life while he was alive . Love and miss this sweet shy man.
Music like this is why at 67 I have hearing damage. I gotta turn the gain up when I hear these.
A small price to pay for greatness!
But you are still sane, aren't ya? Had you been Justin Bieber ing...
@@suhasdutta Well, the most most I'm willing to claim is "not dangerously insane".
You know it Bill!!!! ☯️
Same brother ,but I still lovin playing this song live.
Yesss! Jack Pearson! Making a $100 guitar sound like a $10,000 guitar!
Taj Mahal and Gregg Allman are national treasures.
If this doesn't make you smile nothing will.
Got that right!!❤
Great version, Taj and Gregg's vocals, slide guitar, piano (Chuck Leavell), just superb!!
Lots of greats have done this song but none have yet to equal the Allman Brothers rendition at the Fillmore, unrivaled. If there was it would be on the radio as we speak!
The great, and ALWAYS deep in the pocket, Don Was on the fender bass! Just about perfect, with deep soul.
It’s amazing what a couple kids who barely graduated high school could accomplish. Allman Brothers music is timeless. It will still be played on the radio 100 years from now.
This is simply awesome, that slide player just blew me away, and he only smiled right at the end, I'd have been grinning all the way through if I could play like that, awesome awesome awesome. Scuse me while I play it again ✌✌😎😎
His name’s Jack Pearson and he’s incredible. An interesting thing to note is that the guitar he’s playing is a Squier Bullet Stratocaster, an entry level guitar that cost $150ish at the time
You gotta love Taj, never seen anyone enjoy playing music more than him
With the exception of Oteil Burbridge.
Catch Buddy Guy sometime. He loves his job & hardly ever stops smiling!
Once these greats are gone, there is NO one that will ever take their place. Great performance!!!
Also nobody should take their place. Thats why they are unique.
No one will ever be just like them, but Tedeschi Trucks and Warren Haynes are carrying the tradition forward. And tho his style is not the same, Joe Bonamassa is upholding the blues in a major way. It's not time to give up yet. 😎🎵🎶🎵
I agree. Tedeschi Trucks and Warren Haynes are carrying this now and well into the future.
Made me so happy to see this. It wasn't just nostalgia either; this was an excellent performance. Yay for us old folks!
you're not old!
+Bonnie Doty You look young, Bonnie.
I'm 60 but yeah maybe that's not so old nowadays. I just FEEL old sometimes!
+Bonnie Doty I'm only 32 and I love this!!
Im 26 and love this!
THE TAJ & GREGG ALLMAN TWO GREAT BLUES MESSENGERS
Gregg and the guys was the best around . I worked for Gregg for awhile and love his mother . Ora’s we called her Mama A
Taj Mahal is the blues king of the mojo.when he sings the band plays beyond dancing.
This is musical collaboration at it's best GREGG and Taj.....
Go Taj, excellent and brilliant backing. I didn't know Greg sang so well RIP Greg
Sandra, Maybe a silly question but where have you been for the last 52 years, Gregg sang this good in 1969. How you missed this is a mystery but no disrespect try & go back with me here to that year . ruclips.net/video/ZkBdtjq_26s/видео.html
@@paullevine1813 I know he sang, but somehow I missed him as I thought he only played and didn't explore further. I didn't miss Taj though, saw him in London, same bill as Johnny Winter, now there was a singer and a brilliant guitarist. I will go back, thank you ☺
Blues don't get any better than Statesboro
simply great___this is why we love the blues ______ wake up mama
classic man , just classic ... the bands tight playing just right.... taj and Gregg doing the classic Statesboro blues .. live on top of that . just puts a grin on your face its such a pleasure to hear and see ... great just great.. thanks for posting it for us nomads out here.. appreciate it ... keeps me human..
That guy on strat is absolutely killing it wow
Jack Pearson - he's one of the best slide players around!
Good to see The Taj with Gregg Allman JAMMIN
And the great Jack Pearson on guitar
I saw both Taj Mahal and the Allman Bros. In the 1970’s when I was in college. The tickets were around $3.50 for each concert! Those were the days.
Yeah! Chuck Leavell was there too :-) Love that guy.
met taj when i was only 18! still lovin him. gregg R.I.P.
Don't know why I didn't know Greg passed away....damn,,damn,,damn...and Duane at such an early exit..sad...
This is a reeally great live rendition of a great song I first heard on Taj Mahal's first album, made famous by the Allman Bro.s
wish I, d been at that gig these guys still sound great 40 years on
I love this song in every incarnation from the Blind Willie McTell version, the original Taj remake (that influenced the Allman Bros version) and incuding this with Taj and Gregg sharing the vocals with really lovely musical performances by everyone (say who are "all my friends" anywho?).
Allman Brothers credited Will McTell for their rendition of Statesboro Blues at Filmore East.
Love this!
I, as a young guy, have to say that i absolutely love this song ^^
two of my favorites!
RIP Gregg from a long time fan.
How I miss the sound of that voice and the leslie.

puts a grin on my face , thanks fellas just badass down the line ... yea been a blues fan all my life .. I try to play guitar a little because of songs like this .. the blues just gets me going man .. thanks again..
After so many hit albums I can't feel him singing authentic deep down dark "Black dog" "blues"
Wow…just wow!
Fabulous!!!❤
Don Was on bass. What an excellent version with the maestro of Cajun Blues............ Taj! (Still really missing Gregg. What an amazing artist. R I P!)
Cajun blues? Taj grew up in Harlem and later in Springfield, MA. His father was an Afro Caribbean jazz arranger and piano player. Taj created the first modern arrangement of Statesboro Blues which inspired Duane Allman to take up slide. Won’t say he’s never played Cajun music, but he is a master of fusing blues and other genres.
What a great pack off artists Exelent
That was a great night !!
Brings chills to my bones....
Hot Damn! fantastic live music with the legendary Taj Mahal & Gregg Allman RIP baby boy! Lovin' you guys
there it is!!!
Totally love it. Mega jam music. Oh how I miss Gregg. Rip
Awesome!! Two of my favorite bluesmen on the same stage..........( miss you Gregg).
WONDERFUL!!!
Totally Awesome.
You gotta appreciate good music 🤙🏾
I saw Taj and the Allman Brothers do this at the Beacon on March 17, 2006 and it was so sweet.
Genial. Allman Brothers en pura esencia
Truly awesome performance...
that was really a tight and spirited performance. great to see everybody play with such energy, especially greg.
This is a 'must have' for me.
Gawd... the talent on that stage!! 🍑🍄☮️♥️
Doesn't get much better than this
Fantastic 😊😊
Love the Music of Taj Mahal and Gregg Allman 💙🎸💙🎸💙🎸💙🎸💙🎸
Wow, this reminds me of every
march at the
beacon with the Allman Brothers.
This absolutely rocks.
First saw Allmans in Fla. 1970, Taj in '72. I played in a Southern Rock band in mid-'70s. Love this stuff!
fannnnnnntastic! epic performance of statesboro blues; that has gotta be the slickest slide guitar I've heard in a long time.
That's the definition of badassery right there...
very good song, Taj Mahal and Gregg Allman Band.
The Best !!!
Long live the blues. This made my entire day. Thanks Greg, thanks Taj, and thanks you mean mean sound machine of a slide player. I believe that's Jack Pearson on slide.
wow, this swings.
shortly I heard from Taj Mahal - together with Winton Marsalis at the Lincoln Center - and now I find: he is really so good as BB King (or better?) Thank you, Taj Mahal for your power, thank you very much from Germany
Cool playing !
Dig that Gregg Allman..........I just love him,.....
The Road goes on forever!
This is just dang HOT. Gotta love Taj, and the band simply cooks.
Very-nice!!
Top Shelf! Across the board. Look at the talent on that stage!😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️
Saw Gregg this past summer in NH, the one thing I love about him and his band is that their sound is consistent where ever they play! They sounded exactly like this even without Taj!
So wonderful to hear real music from super experienced musos instead of the computerized rubbish we get served today.
God bless them all
Fantastic 😅
The Blues is alive and well, god bless
I love the way Taj dances
The old dude can move!
