Summary: Blues legends Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' stopped by the Paste studio on Aug. 14 to promote their latest collaboration record, the cleverly titled, TajMo. The duo started off with Taj Mahal's well known tune, Diving Duck Blues, which is featured on their new album. Taj Mahal then played the ukulele to a Keb'Mo' track, "Life is Beautiful," and the pair finished with fan favorite, "Corinna." Information on the blues pair's tour dates can be found here.

Gives me a Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee vibe. I love it. Real music.
Looking at this video I caught myself that I am sitting and smiling...
That's amazing!
Absolutely one of the best pairings of musicians ever!
Pppl
8L. bi?
i learned the basics to this classic song some 30-plus years ago. But I was a teenaged suburban kid, and even though chords werent that hard im still trying my best to make this song sit up and sing. Inspired stuff, no lie.
I love it much .
Thanks a lot .
Jesus is with us ❤
God bless them
please 🙏
"You got to do another" … and he did, and the goosebumps when up my spine, and my heart burst open, knocked me on my knees, man. Good god almighty...
Well said. Same here.
Thanks for reminding me of this, Pat. I just listened to it again - those two men play that song so sweet and pure and sad all at the same time. Tears in my eyes by the end. What troubled times so many of our black friends have had, and how beautifully they have endured.
@@dong1872 Indeed, they have.
Saw Taj front row Kew West High School Auditorium 1980. He reduced us to ashes. Best concert ever and I'm almost 70! LEGAND!
I love these guys and have listened to them for many years now I love the contrast of Taj gritty raspy vocals Kebs fluid vocals. And oh the guitar porn here!!!
guitar porn😂😂😂😂😂😂
so true
This is one of the most important things to listen to regarding music history. Do not just play this video; listen to it.
Taj Mahal can tell stories through morning and take a breakfast break and then continue to tell.
I use to play gigs. I learned early that, along with the song, that a believable story teller must deliver it. Taj Mahal and Keb Mo. A small amount of bourbon, a small cigar, and this video, is a very good end to this day! Happy!
Good on yer
I concur!
I concur Friend! This is beautiful. White wine, homemade chili and TajMo
So glad to have found this! This is just plain GREATNESS! I have been listening to these two Blues men for years!
So was I‼️ Miruko from Japan🍀
i think these youngsters have a bright future 🍀
I wish the interviewer guy wasn't a parody of white folks from the suberbs
One time I saw Taj in Rochester, NY. I decided to bring my well-cared for double LP, "The Real Thing," with me to the show. Wouldn't you know, I was able to get him to sign it...one of the great treasures of my life!
I appreciate your story thanks for sharing
This is really moving music. I wish them great success!!!
Life is beautiful! Indeed. Thanks 🙏 to TajMo
Blues from deep down your soul. Bless these two guys! Thanks to Keb's finger picking instructional video I can handle a couple of songs now.
together they sound even more awesome LOVE this !!! Thank you.
Loved your show at the Oregon Zoo July 2018 Thanks... and first saw Taj Mahal at the Fillmore East late 60's early 70's who can remember.
If you can remember, you probably weren't really there.
im 24 seeing Taj Mahal tomorrow. So lucky to be seeing this living legend live in 2022!!!
I saw him in AZ a few weeks ago, and he was awesome!
The I teverwws
Nervous
Recently attended the TajMo concert in Cincinnati Ohio. Out of about 2500 of those attending I don't think that there were more than 50 black people there. i don't understand why they don't show more support for Taj And Keb
I love the blues played honestly and we are blessed with the most honest music
Taj rocking that Ben Harper signature Martin. :) Full circle.
Love it guys ... Absolutely love it! You two shoulda gotten together ages ago!
There was Sonny Terry & Brownie Maghee and now there is Taj Mo'. We need more.
There was a tv station in Toronto that used to play some wild stuff in the middle of the night (and day) back in the 80s and one of those was Sonny Terry&Brownie McGhee live in concert and I was hooked from the first note. Same city used to be chock full of great record stores and an employee at Sam the Record man on Yonge talked this punk kid into buying Taj Mahal Natch'l Blues. Needless to say I put the punk on the side burner....
Now there's a team that was to be reckoned with!
Like a shadow, of that conifer tree, shade on your car, with a hot dogs, panting that want to run,, free. Gone...
the guy's questions are so crap...
Saw them at the Cuthbert theater in Eugene Oregon and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to In My Life! And I have been to a hell of a lot of good shows!
Live in Salem and completely missed out. Eyes open.
I love the diving duck blues these men are legends it thrills me with chicken skin love listening this🤣🤣 this music works healing
To quote my Dad, who loves 'Divin' Duck Blues': "This carries sunshine in it like nothing else."
Can anyone tell me what tuning Keb is in? I fancy having a stab at his dobro part; I'm guessing open G?
I believe it is open D because he uses a capo on the first fret and the song is in D#.
Holy shit. What a combo. I’ve always under appreciated Keb. What a dummy I am. Thanks so much.
as someone earlier said
heaven on earth 🌍
Top shelf blues right there, folks.
Put your ears around these songs, like your back ain't got no bone! Amazing! Two modern true roots Bluesmen.
Can we get this without the interviewer please!
oh I hate interviewers
Hi. #PasteMagazine this is fabulous. Very informative and just #greatness #WorldMagicMusicMakers #Independent #MusicLoversBlockchain only the best. #Preserving all types of music cultures and walks of life. 😎🤘👍🌟💛🎶🎮🎨📸🎭🎥🖤🐴☮❤🚀 #Spread #WiseAwareness #Light and #Love
This is Heavenly Blues! Seriously in its truest form 🇺🇸
Do knott getter no better than this
Im amazed by the level of musicallity and spirituality of this set!!
Amazing music.
Not so much for the interviewer. Short questions & long answers that's what people want. Not interviewers looking to show off how much they know. He also implies answers in his questions when theres no need! Leave the answers to the people you're interviewing!
This music is unreal though.
an i say lets the interviewer be the interviewer, and dont tell me what i want.yes i love you pretty babe, ..
Hey.....! Ist sooooooooo schluss mit dem gefasel'- unglaublich schöne Musik
This might be difficult for a few to comprehend, but probably not older black folks who lived through or before the 1960's; also this comment should not be construed as a criticism per se: That being said, as I listened to this wonderful recording, I could not help but wish that, when younger men--particularly younger white men--are addressing the elder giants of another culture, that a certain "formal reverence" would be offered in their form of address. In this case, "you gentlemen" would have had a more respectful "ring," as opposed to the overly familiar and oft evoked, "you guys." It may seem like nitpicking, (clearly there was no disrespect intended to the artists or to audiences of color,) but, to some ears, there is a trigger of reminiscence of how the littlest white children were (are?) free to address the non-white "help," in any age-category, by their first names, from the vantage point of "equals" or "superiors."
Kato Jawaria- thank you for your thoughtful comment. I don't believe that the man who was speaking to Taj Mahal and Keb Mo was purposely being disrespectful, but I agree with you that the "familiarity" I hear in his voice is not appropriate. In my opinion, it is a generational problem with people of this man's age. I'm white, so I may be a bit tone-deaf to the extent that it is experienced by older black folk, but I sense that many of the younger people I encounter are a bit too "overly-familiar", if you understand my meaning. I've tought at a public high school for over twenty years, which may color my perception, but I sense that generally people are getting less socially competent as the years go on. This includes knowing when respect it due, and how to act accordingly...
@@davidlilker2747 It was a pleasure to read your sensitive and well-measured response to my remarks. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment and, moreover, for the benefits of a second perspective and another layer of insight. I agree and emphasize that it is a generalized tendency toward informality in our social forms of address that you and I have discussed, as opposed to any intended disrespect on the part of the interviewer whose level of regard seems quite the opposite and very positive. Best regards!
Absolutely, the verbal lack of respect is clear to me, although I have a suspicion (I'm 73 and spent 40 years teaching) that Junior's "you guys" is more his generation's "we're all equal now" conceit than any racial attitude, though one can't be sure this side of truth serum.
Both of them are so spirit-lifting, together they are a double dose of sunshine!
Tres Hombres
Wonderful musicians true geniuses .... what talent
Keb, show como sempre😍👏👏. Taj, sua voz é incrível, uma das melhores pra mim 😍😍👏👏👏👏
Two men, both extremely talented and experienced, each of whom has spent more time paying their dues than sonny boy announcer has been alive, judging by his voice, and the best he can muster is "you guys"? I suppose junior thinks he's being polite.
I know you rider but the Grateful Dead stole that line the suns gonna shine in my back door someday from divin duck blues I just noticed
Hey, the are 🥰🥰🥰♥️♥️😊😃👊🎫💥💥💥💥💥💥🥰🥰!!!!!!!!
Thanks for ruining the music with ads right in the middle of the songs RUclips. Awesome 😮
I love blues, but just discovered these two. Blown away by it.........56 & still learning :-)
Taj and Ken: Do you need a techie to get all of this on Spotify or Apple or any place so the world can know all this music?
The interviewer keeps referring to the musicians “you guys” again and again. Irritating.
Great blues, I like very much, God Bless you from Spain 🙏👍
Taj was born 17 May 1942,
Keb’ 3 October 1951.
stupid questions, brilliant answers
Two of the best voices in music!

Speaking from "across the pond" in England."taj" and "keb"....an acoustic blues partnership that would leave everyone begging for more.....how can something as complex as right hand and left hand technique be made to look so natural?...Thanks for being a part of my music memory.
Real treasure, this...
Great great stuff ___ both of these guys are blues
It would be great if Eric Bibb could join them
How pros perform the blues. What a combo!
Just a brilliant combo superb musicians love the blues ever since i can remember
Just forwarded this to Jack Landrón (aka Jackie Washington), who got Taj his first gig, opening for Elizabeth Cotten when Jack couldn’t do it.

Many beautiful things in here.
I can not believe the genius's that manage this do not offer the album on a click or a click to click but instead get lost again, Not lost music just better recording requires the machine that plays it stone cold flat even not sharp at least for the sound.
These two recently had GRAMMY Gold and now Taj Mahal and Neil Young come out on 22 April 22 with
"All On Board." Listen to this !
