    Thanks, recently purchased this same bike online and the pedal assist wasn't kicking in. Walk mode was working. We didn't need to replace the sensor but the sensor had a gap between it and the magnetic disk over 1/4" (5 to 6 mm) away. Bent the bracket close about 2 mm away seemed to do the trick. This bike is awesome and got it at a great discount price $400 US. o/

    Just got my bike delivered and decided to pre-emptively order a replacement magnet and sensor since they seem prone to failure.
    I had an ah-ha moment that I am also going to try. If you install the magnet ring and sensor on the FRONT wheel, then you can get an 'always on' motor that turns on whenever the bike is moving, with brake cutoff when you want to stop. I will wire this in and leave the factory one in place if I want to switch it back. OR I could wire in a switch to toggle which mode I want...pedal assist or always on.

      Not prone to fail you you just need to use some zip ties to put things in order fix your wires properly the company doesn't supply them so you have to get your own anyone would know this

    Thanks for your latest comment. So probably my chain came off the sprocket and destroyed the plastic wheel leaving only one magnet behind. I found one article on line showing how to change the magnetic wheel. Just need a puller to remove the crank on one side. Will wait to hear from Hyper and also ask if a service manual and/or detailed parts list exists. Thanks again.

      I had the same thing! My chain came off and now my motor wont engage. I still havent managed to fix problem. Hope I dont have to replace any parts as this happened just 15 mins into owning the MF bike.

      @@JoelLindsey If it is a Hyper bike give them a call. They are very good at honoring the parts warranty. Did your magnetic ring opposite the sensor ( on the frame under the pedals) get damaged. Mine totally disappeared when the chain came off. Took a while to find the problem. Thanks to NADA. The Park tool made it easy to get the pedal Then slid the ring in place. Put the pedal back in the correct position and not backwards like I did. Problem solved. Good luck.

    Hyper came through with the sensor and magnetic wheel.. Disconnected the right arm (chain side) from crank set wit $20.00 Park tool. Slid on the magnetic wheel and reinstalled the right arm. Started to peddle but something felt wrong. LOL!
    I now had both crank set arms in the same alignment. Old age moment? So once I got the pedals aligned properly, electric drive kicked in. Thanks for your help. I will keep the part link you provided. That magnetic wheel seems to be subject to damage when the chain comes off the crank set. Thanks.

    Thanks for the info. No sign of any magnet wheel on my Hyper 700cc cruiser. Just that one loose magnet that can easily be moved around by a screwdriver. Makes me think that some magnets may have fallen off. Would be great if a service manual existed.

    I read reviews on this bike before I purchased it. One comment was exactly this problem, although the kid said it was due to when the chain derailed from the front sprocket and it would hit that cord when it dropped. Being aware of this I would check that cord every time my chain dropped on it. After a few weeks I noticed I had a bigger problem: The cord that led to the rear hub motor moved towards (by vibrations?) and was being chewed up by the front sprockets teeth itself!!
    So I electric taped it up and then wrapped a few (thick) cable ties around the cord right at that spot to act as armour. And a few more to pull it more towards the wheel and away from the teeth. I then added some ties to the PAS cord to armour it up as well. So far so good. But I’d hate to be riding and then feel that sudden cut out from the motor.
    AND...Is there a speed limiter on this type of bike?... I’d like to by-pass it and go faster if you know how.

      Hey man, thx for the tips on that. Definitely needs a little extra engineering. I know that all ebikes of this glass are governed to like 32kmph or something like that to pass safety regulations. We might actually build a custom ebike on this channel to by pass the regulations cuz we kinda sick of making beer videos hahah

      @@nopenada2271 although, I question if its limited at all, because based on how far I commute and how long it takes me to get there, I figure my average speed is about 26-28 km/hr. Not 32.
      But, it still could be limited to that right?

      I came to the same conclusion when my son tore the cable on his. It must have come loose and gotten torn between the chain and the sprocket.

    So yours has a plastic wheel with 12 magnets. Maybe the plastic wheel on mine broke off leaving only one magnet being held in place on the metal front gear by magnetic force only. Waiting to hear from Hyper and will pass along the info you have provided. Thanks and have a great day..

    • @nopenada2271
      @nopenada2271  4 года назад

      Yah so at the very beginning of our video you can see the plastic wheel with magnets it comes with. Mine was fine so I only replaced the sensor. It does sound like maybe yours snapped off if you dragged it over a rock or something maybe.. replacing that plastic magnet wheel would be alot more of a pain in the ass. But it could be your sensor works differently than mine. Either way good luck on the fix . The company is definitely good to work with when you call them so I will give them credit on their support

  • @jerrybriardy

    To start with; I finally got it repaired but the lock no longer works and the battery has to be held in with a hose clamp. However, the company said they will send another bike as it is still under warranty. The company has been EXTREMELY helpful. They bent over backwards to help me.
    This bike is very difficult to repair. This video skips over the problem area. The battery housing is so tight it is extremely difficult to remove and so far impossible to put back together. There isn't really anything to hold the lock where it should be, so I guess maybe use the key. But the real problem is the bottom the lock goes through fits extremely tight, so tight it probably doesn't need screws. It is in an awkward position so it is almost impossible to even get a hammer in there to knock it in place. I'm a 300 pound weight lifter and I can't force it in because it is so tight. If it breaks just return it. You will void the warranty if you try repairing it yourself. The problem we have is the main engine cable that plugs into the hub motor broke. It must have come unplugged, then got caught in the chain as it is simply torn off.This guy points out the design flaw that led to the problem. The wires are hanging down and if it comes unplugged as it easily can, and gets caught in the chain, the wire will break.
    If you do need to repair it, do not dismantle the bike as this guy is doing. It is much easier to simply strip the wires and splice on a new plug. I've been struggling with this thing all afternoon and it is still not fixed, and may never be. I never would have started this project had I known how difficult it would be. 30 minutes of wire splicing would have easily solved the problem. Hyper sent us a free replacement cable. Just cut the replacement cable and splice it onto the torn wire. I suggest you also use gorilla tape or something similar to cover the wires and prevent them from getting caught in the chain.

      It's always nice to hear other people's problems and solutions with the same bike. We got lucky and after we put it all back together, we've never had another problem with any of the wires rubbing and we do quite a bit of trail riding. Almost no city riding. I did break the chain guard, but that's the only problem we've had since then. I also bought another battery cause we do 40+km rides.

    Where does the magnet ring go? I can only see one magnet on the front crank gear opposite the sensor. The magnet is only held in place by magnet force and can easily be moved around with a screwdriver. Not seeing any ring. No illustrations that I can find through Google search.

      so the little plastic wheel with the 12 magnets in it on our was still in good shape, and I dont have proper tools to take apart the crank and replacement the plastic ring, so all I replaCed was the sensor.
      that being said, sometimes the plastic magnet ring does come a little lose and i have to kind of pull it back into place closer to the pedal sensor for it to sense it and kick in the motor

      That was indeed the same case for us, walk mode worked but pedal sensor didnt, the proble for us was the actual sensor wire got freyed and eventually cut, so we only needed to replace the sensor and nothing else

    • @kenbad8271
      @kenbad8271 3 года назад

      If your pas is not working and you can't use it when pedaling then there's something wrong with the pas magnet and the disc distance try moving it closer if you can't move it closer it may be worn out by not being put in it right in the first place then you will need to order a new one

    Thank you so much for this video. While my pedal sensor wasn't faulty, I was able to figure out what the issue was on my bike thanks to you and "c t" in the comments.
    The plastic wheel with the magnets was too far away from the sensor, which is why it wasn't detecting pedal movement. I pushed it closer and it is now working. Obviously a temporary solution - I will have to figure out why the plastic wheel is sliding back and forth. Maybe I didn't tighten the pedals well enough?
    smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08C5CGP9Q/ is a different link than you provided in the comments. It's $2 cheaper and from the pictures appears to be the same product.
