Thank you for this video. I did not have your cleaning kit available so I used cleaning vinegar and just a syringe. It worked. I went from no yellow or cyan and everything printing in pink back to normal. THANK YOU
This worked on my Canon G6020. My initial nozzle check showed nothing on the cyan and yellow lines. I used a little less than half a bottle of the cleaning fluid on those two colours, and then I ran another nozzle check. This one showed a very faint cyan and yellow and no magenta (I had not run any fluid through magenta). After running a cleaning and deep cleaning, a third nozzle check showed a slight improvement on the cyan. So I did the ink flush. Although it did use a lot of ink, it didn't use as much ink as I had thought it would. A fourth nozzle check shows all colours back to normal. I'm very happy to have found this video and to have saved myself the cost of a new printer and ink!
Thanks sooo much. this fixed my yellow. It was absolutely BROWN when I pushed the solution thru!!!! I couldn't believe it. I haven't had yellow in my Print head line in a while so it just sat there and went bad. You are great!!! Canon told me on the phone that my printer had a "Hardware Issue" and needed to be replaced! NO, no, no!
Thank you. I just purchased the kit at your recommendation. Your video is user-friendly, and I appreciate it. I hope it goes well. I have confidence I can do this. I need my printer to work for soap label AND mailing labels. I didn't expect my printer to just stop printing this morning when there is still lots of ink left...
Product worked flawlessly on one of my customers' printer (print head was nicely cleaned out). Unfortunately, I had a feeling there was a bigger issue that has been the topic on many tech repair forums involving this Canon printer. Black ink was not being drawn to through the distribution tube. After closer inspection, air bubbles were evident. I will be keeping a couple of these in my inventory for the future though. Great product and excellent walk-through, my brother! Take care!!

Happy New Year and thank you for this guide! I have a Canon Pixma G5020 and it was bothering me that there didn't appear to be anything about this printer on RUclips after finding my colors weren't printing. I realized this video was close enough to pay attention to it. Ordered the Printhead Cleaning Kit and followed the steps only to learn I needed to perform the Ink Flush. Originally thought I was going to have to wait anywhere from the 6th till the 9th this month when surprised Amazon told me it was coming NYE! It did, yay! Just filled the tanks, ran the Ink Flush, and back in business. Thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video! I never have been technology savvy. I just purchased the cleaning kit in hopes of fixing the awful printing of the inks
Great video! Thanks for showing us how it's done. I guess I'll check my ink sponge in the back and dry it out too, after doing this? I would think this will just completely saturate the ink drain sponge? I keep alchohol and large syringes around, just for these fing printers, what a pain. My last canon only lasted 6 years, with carts, my moms even less time. I kept it limping along, but it seems they are NOT DESIGNED TO LAST, and that's how Canon wants it. I hope these new printers end up better; my G6020 is completely clogged after 2.5 years, deep cleaning does nothing for it; of course I rarely use it.. which is why there is a problem.
Thank you your kit and method fixed my Pixma G6050, i wanted to ask where does the ink go during an ink flush? Do we need to empty a resevoir or anything?
Very helpful! Thanks! Why do you need to use Ink Flush if you'd already flushed out the print heads with the solution? In the past after cleaning with a solution, I would just print a page of solid color to clean out the remaining solution, and it used much less ink and didn't add ink to the internal ink pads.
@@denahom Dena, I just saw your message, sorry so long to respond! Just open an image editing program (Photoshop, Gimp, etc.) and make an 8.5"x11" document, draw a box that fills to the margins and fill it with 100% of whichever color you want to print. Always leave a margin, 1/4" or so, to make sure ink doesn't get on your rollers.
Before cleaning printed only a couple colors. I used to the cleaning kit suggested everything seems to work good except for the yellow still is not as good as it should be? Flush used about 1/4 of a color capacity.
This process works well for me, but is there a way to get just the cleaning solution? I don't need to buy the whole kit every time I run out of solution!
Hi Brandon. I watched your video om cleaning the nozzle heads on the ink cartridges, but you also mentioned flushing. Do you recommend running a nozzle check after cleaning out the dried ink? Is flushing also necessary after completing the nozzle head cleaning? Lastly, where does the ink go during the flushing process? Does it empty out of the printer?
Very helpful. I understand why you might not want to share what is in the cleaning fluid but I applied a bit too much pressure and the tube came out and I got sprayed with the stuff so I would like to know if it is harmful.
No it is not harmful just wash it off. I have submitted a sds sheet to Amazon. If you message me via Amazon I can send one over to you. The solution is water based.
7/5/24 what happens if you don’t do the flush at the end of the? I have a g7020 very similar to this and there is no replacement material/kit that soaks up all of the ink that’s used in the final step. Question 2- if I cleared the dried ink with your kit , why is the last step “ maintenance ink flush” required? I mean no disrespect or negative tone, I’m just trying to better understand . Thanks. So I am not sure what to do after cleaning the print heads. You mention ink flush and then it looks like video was edited and you mention, cleaning, deep cleaning and then ink flush. So do I clean and deep clean after I use the cleaning kit or do I automatically do ink flush after cleaning the print heads with the kit?
This is really a good method, but in the end all the ink that has been used is there a recovery tank to empty which is filled with the used ink? If so is where? (sorry if the translation is approximate I don't speak English)
Hello, this is a great video and I'm anxious to try it, however I can't seem to find a kit that specifically calls out the G6020. I'm worried that the hoses aren't going to fit as a result. Are you aware of any kits that are available at this time that will work with the G6020?
Your ink tubes have air in them though. So that is going to give you another issue. So if my black is causing smudges on the paper is this what I should do? I see that there are sponges in the printer, do those need to be cleaned as well?
Thanks for informing us. I plan on trying this kit. I'd like to point, I went to the cannon video on changing printheads and am wondering (A.) why don't you use their procedure to park the heads via the maintenance menu so we can pull out the print heads? Does this start some kind of a counter so that if old heads are returned the system will not want to work? (B.) the receptacle in the printer that accepts the waste ink from the purging and the cleaning and all that. When do we have to start worrying about that. Before I got to your video, I tried so many cleaning and purging cycles and what not to no avail, now I am worrying if I have that thing filled. Thanks for all the help.
Hi, I have always done my own method for stopping the printhead. I was not aware Canon had a video like that, I wouldnt be opposed to doing it their way. Also once the waste ink pads fill up you will be notified as to you replacing it. I hope this helps!

Hi Keith, after using the kit focus on running a printhead cleaning over and over until the color comes back 100%. Also keep your ink full during the whole process.
I honestly rarely use color but after a year and a half of printing black only, the colors look to be full until the nozzle check it’s looks almost as bad as the black. Is this just because I don’t use it that often and can I just add black to fix my faded black problem?
Hi, just bought your print head cleaning kit, however, the color print head is not getting any ink from the color reservoir. How does the ink get pumped to the print head?
Hey Brandon, what are your thoughts on Epson vs. Canon with regard to the Waste ink sponge servicing and reset. I'm drawn to the Canon G7020 but I its my understanding that you cant service this yourself on the Canon.
What printer did you get? I was eyeing ecotank 3850 before seeing the g6020. Did you replace pads? I'm getting a 4 year store warranty and not dealing with this. I've had no problems even at bestbuy getting an newer improved headset at no extra cost because former headset was discontinued
I recently purchased my Canon pixma 7020 (a month ago) and its print is kinda faded and dull. I’s very frustrating! Would this cleaning product help me?
what is the cleaning solution made of ? is it water based or hydrocarbon or other solvent based ? Could you please provide a link to the cleaning solution's MSDS. Thanks
3 drops dish soap, 4 teaspoons ipa from drug store mixed in some deionized water ($1 a gallon). We already get ripped off by the printer manufacturers ($165 for an epson ecotank maxify print head??) Cost them $10 in China or Vietnam to manufacture
Hi , I did everything from your video to clean the printer, but on the and I’m not sure of the steps ? So I did clean manually with cleaner kit ✅ and then with I understood from your video on the and I did ink flash and nozzle check✅ but you are talking something and deep cleaning and cleaning, I’m not sure if I should add this to the process. Please make sure on the and of video you are slowly describe the steps with showing what to click on the screen the printer, it was confusing. And after the process you show on the video my check print page looks the same 🤔 and idea what I did wrong ?
Yeah answer this guy's question... Pretty sure if I buy this printer from bestbuy I'll pay the extra $60 for 4 years of warranty and let them deal with it. Any code that pops up I either get the money back or replacement as I've done 3x before
i figure it out, for the g6020 model the tubes are on the right side of the printer. instead of taking the whole thing apart i drill and cut to expose the tubes and reroute them into a larger printer ink resevoir. Now everytime I flush the ink it goes into the tank instead of dumping it onto the pad sitting below the printer.@@BestPrinters
Hi I need to know if you can help me how to adjust the colors on mega tank because the red is not too red and the purple is blue and it is new printer can you help me please ??
Brandon, I did the whole flush, even did the Ink Flush in Maintenance. The BLACK seems to be problematic. I feel that the black tank needs black ink. However, an odd problem: The ink from the bottle will NOT FLOW into the black tank. I did a dipstick analysis and the tank is almost empty but hard to see when ink has been in there for a while. Can you shed some light on why an ink bottle will not flow its ink into the black tank? thank you.
Thank you the only thing I don't like is the ink flash as every time this is done you then end up with other issue as the sponge in back of the tank gets full and then it cause another major issue. These printers are full of issue. Cannon need to change modify these printers with ink emptying tanks too not a sponge.
Hi I have a bigger problem my daughter filled up the blue tank with black ink. Of course printer it's not using it. How I can remove and clean the blue thank filled with black ink?
I have been scouring the internet for an at home solution to my canon pixma g1200. Error says something about tank overfill??? This happened after doing a session of cleaning and clearing. Now I can’t attempt anything through my computer to resolve. Is it possible to manually fix this issue at home?
Thanks. I hope this is what it takes to take care of error 5200. I was trying to print a 100 page pdf and black ink starts to die. When run nozzle check black no longer prints. Hope this is it.

Hello, I did try "how to clean the printheads" and did not work, I did all the test I was told to do, nozzle, deep cleaning etc, It filled my maintenance cartridge twice and now I have to wait to get another maintenance cartridge. I received a phone call from Canon today and now they are sending me another printer, oh wow. I print a lot and I am not sure this is the printer for me, not even a year old and I have already printed 7350 pages. I not sure what brand is best, so confusing. Apparently the printheads are gone, to replace them is very expensive and very hard to find, I own a Canon G 2270.
I can't get the ink bottle to flow into the tank. I've cleaned the bottle top and the top of the tank, but the ink will not go into the tank. Directions say to have printer on, and I've done that. Now what? I've ordered you suggested cleaner, and will be attempting to clean heads, But if I can't fill the tanks, what do I do?
Any tips for seeing how full the black tank is? The ink on the sides makes it always look full. I tried shining a light through it, but it's too opaque. Thanks!
It might just be full! I don't know how long you've had the printer for/how much you print, but I'm 600 pages in and I've used less than a quarter of each tank, and I can easily see the black levels.
@@emilytetreault2516 Thanks, Emily! I've had the printer for a while and it always looks full. I have to peek in from the top to see how full it is. Oh well, as long as it keeps printing! ;)
CAUTION. I tried this because our colour ink tanks are stained inside and we could not see that one was empty, it must have sat dry for a while. I must have used slightly too much pressure on the syringe as the fluid came out of a different colours nipple and not the jet end. A new head did fix the issue but they are not cheap to replace.
Hi, can you help me out a cannon G6010. An error reads" something like" close the ink valve and reinstall the print head". The paper also stops feeding all the way ver frequently. Thx!
I have followed your directions, it prints in double letters. It's hard to read the pages. I've followed everything, except to use the cleaning kit. I did buy it and ready. But, I'm 70 yrs old, and afraid to try more. I have used the cleaning settings & the full flush. Still hard to read printing, its double printing on each letter being printed. usC000 code. What now?
I have a Canon G1200 and the waste ink pads are full. Canon says it's not serviceable. Are there any ink tank printers that have replaceable waste pads?

I honestly rarely use color but after a year and a half of printing black only, the colors look to be full until the nozzle check it’s looks almost as bad as the black. Is this just because I don’t use it that often and can I just add black to fix my faded black problem?
It is most likely because you don't use color. The cleaning kit should help.
@@BestPrinters yep, that was my guess. Thanks.
How long does it take for the print heads to dry? The box says wait 24 hours but your video did not mention the amount of time.
Yes let it dry for 24 hours.
Can your cleaning solution be used with edible image priters?
Yes, absolutely
Hi, just bought your print head cleaning kit, however, the color print head is not getting any ink from the color reservoir. How does the ink get pumped to the print head?
By running a printhead cleaning, that will push the ink back into the system.
Thank you!! I run an art business and this was so helpful!! 🙌🏼
You're so welcome!
How do I get the ink to flow from the bottle to fill the tank?
Hey Brandon, what are your thoughts on Epson vs. Canon with regard to the Waste ink sponge servicing and reset. I'm drawn to the Canon G7020 but I its my understanding that you cant service this yourself on the Canon.
What printer did you get? I was eyeing ecotank 3850 before seeing the g6020. Did you replace pads? I'm getting a 4 year store warranty and not dealing with this. I've had no problems even at bestbuy getting an newer improved headset at no extra cost because former headset was discontinued
Is it easier to buy some new print heads?
In some cases yes.
Great video Thank you
My printer Canon G3062 error code 5100
Please help
Thank you
Randa
Hi Randa, with error code 5100 please ensure that there isnt anything jammed within the printer.
I recently purchased my Canon pixma 7020 (a month ago) and its print is kinda faded and dull. I’s very frustrating!
Would this cleaning product help me?
Yes, definitely
what is the cleaning solution made of ? is it water based or hydrocarbon or other solvent based ? Could you please provide a link to the cleaning solution's MSDS. Thanks
Please contact Best Printers through Amazon for MSDS.
Thank you! Huge help to restoring print quality!
Awesome!!
I've got a g7020 and there's no. Ink flush in the maintenance section on the printer tools what next?💙
It may be titled something else on your printer you will need to look it up.
Great video, but..... how do I clean the waste ink pad???????
It needs to be replaced actually.
@@BestPrinters how? Where can I buy new pads?
Yeah answer this guy's question...
Pretty sure if I buy this printer from bestbuy I'll pay the extra $60 for 4 years of warranty and let them deal with it. Any code that pops up I either get the money back or replacement as I've done 3x before
My ink tanks are completely full now. My printing is super faded. Can I still clean the cartridge??
Yes
Can you show us the waste ink tube? I just need to route it to a reservoir
There isnt tubing , the system works with a pad. The pad collects the wasted ink.
i figure it out, for the g6020 model the tubes are on the right side of the printer. instead of taking the whole thing apart i drill and cut to expose the tubes and reroute them into a larger printer ink resevoir. Now everytime I flush the ink it goes into the tank instead of dumping it onto the pad sitting below the printer.@@BestPrinters
Will this reset the waste ink count?
Nice presentation. On Pixma G3200 how do I get the carriage to be stationed in the middle for access?
Hold down the Stop key for an 8 count, twice.
@@dougmann777 Thank you (belatedly)
does the G6020 have a replaceable maintenance cartridge?
It doesnt.
Can you shed some light on why an ink bottle will not flow its ink into the black tank? thank you.
I have a Canon G6020 but the tube for Color are block. I don’t see any ink in the tube and the reservoir are full. Thanks
You can run a power cleaning/ Printhead cleaning to get the ink back into the system.
Your Amazon link doesn't take me to your kit.
Thank you the only thing I don't like is the ink flash as every time this is done you then end up with other issue as the sponge in back of the tank gets full and then it cause another major issue. These printers are full of issue. Cannon need to change modify these printers with ink emptying tanks too not a sponge.
Can this cleaning product be used on an edible printer?
Yes, absolutely.
Hi I have a bigger problem my daughter filled up the blue tank with black ink. Of course printer it's not using it. How I can remove and clean the blue thank filled with black ink?
You will need to use the metal tubing that comes with the kit to remove the incorrect ink.
I have been scouring the internet for an at home solution to my canon pixma g1200. Error says something about tank overfill??? This happened after doing a session of cleaning and clearing. Now I can’t attempt anything through my computer to resolve. Is it possible to manually fix this issue at home?
Where does all that ink go? All the ink used in a flush? Do I need to find it and dump it out?
Can you show me the waste ink box or absorber?
good question
So many asked this question and printer guy didn't answer 🤔

Thanks. I hope this is what it takes to take care of error 5200. I was trying to print a 100 page pdf and black ink starts to die. When run nozzle check black no longer prints. Hope this is it.
This should bring back your black color.
@@BestPrinters didn't work. flushed it with solution until it all came out clear. jus the black then ran ink flush to fill up the tubes. ran nozzle check and no black. Now when I unhook the cartridges the black tube seems to remain full. Only the color ones seem to empty and fill with air. Does that tell you something?
@@BestPrinters solvent didn't do it. dipped print head in very hot distilled water, flushed it with more of teh same. water came out clean and clear. ran ink flush and still nozzle check no black print. Tubes in the printer are full. and ten minutes later 5B00
OMG. I just bought one of these. What did I get myself into. UGH
Sorry
Hello, I did try "how to clean the printheads" and did not work, I did all the test I was told to do, nozzle, deep cleaning etc, It filled my maintenance cartridge twice and now I have to wait to get another maintenance cartridge. I received a phone call from Canon today and now they are sending me another printer, oh wow. I print a lot and I am not sure this is the printer for me, not even a year old and I have already printed 7350 pages. I not sure what brand is best, so confusing. Apparently the printheads are gone, to replace them is very expensive and very hard to find, I own a Canon G 2270.
What about gx6020. Is there a similar video
It would be the same process.
Oh well, as long as it keeps printing! ;)
This kind of confirms for me that laser is the way to go. They won't dry up because toner is already dry
True!
CAUTION. I tried this because our colour ink tanks are stained inside and we could not see that one was empty, it must have sat dry for a while. I must have used slightly too much pressure on the syringe as the fluid came out of a different colours nipple and not the jet end. A new head did fix the issue but they are not cheap to replace.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! Just saved my printer 🎉
If the tubes/pipes are empty just run the IJ Printer Assistant Tool Ink Flush application.
ok
Hi, can you help me out a cannon G6010. An error reads" something like" close the ink valve and reinstall the print head". The paper also stops feeding all the way ver frequently. Thx!
I have followed your directions, it prints in double letters. It's hard to read the pages. I've followed everything, except to use the cleaning kit. I did buy it and ready. But, I'm 70 yrs old, and afraid to try more. I have used the cleaning settings & the full flush. Still hard to read printing, its double printing on each letter being printed. usC000 code. What now?
I just bought this printer a few days ago and it prints lines across horizontally only at the beginning can you help please
Yes you will want to do a printhead cleaning witht he bp cleaning kit.
I have a Canon G1200 and the waste ink pads are full. Canon says it's not serviceable. Are there any ink tank printers that have replaceable waste pads?
I hear that a user replaceable waste pad cartridge is a new feature on the G3260 and similar generation (dec 2020) megatank printers.
Jeff- i am having issues with mine too, error says something about tank overfill 🤷🏼♀️
Do heads dry out if not used
Yes, they do. Which is why you want to print at least bi weekly.
@@BestPrinters thank you what printer would u recommend for home use, dont print much?
Very nice instructions. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
How the hell do you reset the ink counter on a G3200? This has turned mine into landfill fodder / e-waste.
Maybe reset the printer
@@BestPrinters Yes, obviously, but none of the reset procedures on the internet work.
My Canon G7020 mega tank printer only prints yellow when it should be printing other colors,
Yes it needs this cleaning.
Thank you so much, this was a very helpful video!!!!
Just made an order!
Awesome!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Could you please clean a cloged printhead instead showing Theorie. That would be great...

💯Best thanks so much - video helpful, thorough and well done!!!
You're very welcome!
What if one color doesn’t appear at all on your nozzle check?
Repeat the process.
Thank you very much.
You're welcome!
Ink flush is such a scam. They charge a fortune for ink and each flush takes so much. What a scam. These companies really piss me off.
I know.
*So when you do a ink FLUSH where does that ink go*?
Good question, I also want to know.
There's an ink absorber inside
I'm pretty sure when the ink absorber is full the printer has to be replaced
