AC stops blowing out Dash vents, defrost only, Fix for about 10$ Ford Econoline e250 - Project Van

  • After installing a new blower fan motor the ac would only come out the defrost vents. The factory vacuum check valve is very hard to get to. So i bypassed it. Now it is working like it should and ac comes out the dash vents. I do not have a vacuum reservoir installed i will have to see if i will need to add it later.

    For those complaining that there is no voice over commentary, it's not needed. Everything you need to do is very well shown in this video.
    If the visuals alone can't help you do the job, you shouldn't be working on a vehicle.
    This is exactly what I needed to fix the AC vents in my 2014 E450, thank you Zuntic.

      It's stupid. Necessary you're not you're making a video that's supposed to be educational except he is secluding a group of people those who do not do this for a living or understand this kind of stuff very well. I myself have a mental illness and I don't do this kind of shit very well because I can't remember shit at all so yeah voice is kind of necessary if you're doing an instructional video on how to fix a vehicle whatever you doing in fact on any kind of video that's instructional you should be using your voice we have these senses for a reason. The only thing that I can hear actually is him saying "look at me I'm on RUclips"

      Well those of us who can do these simple procedures but who are new to car repair would benefit from voice over. But i am appreciative as watching it 3 or 4 times i could figure it out. That would be like a math teacher telling his students to quit the class if the teacher needs to say anything, and only demonstrate on the chalk board.

    You need a reservoir to store vacuum or when you step on the gas you will lose vacuum and it will default to the defrost position, until you let off the gas. It works great only at idle

      The vacuum reservoir leaks on these vansand causes the vents to go into defrost only. The reservoir is difficult to get to so you can bypass the reservoir this way to get your vents switching again.

    This fix will have failure because the vacuum canister is being removed from the system. The proper fix is to replace vacuum canister with new check valve and mount under the passenger dash. If this isnt done then under semi aggressive acceleration the blend door will momentarily send it back to defrost. Will be most noticable when towing or hauling heavier loads.

    Bummer. I have a 2012 e150. I don’t have a hole with a grommet. There’s a ring v where one could be drilled. Unless it’s farther down behind the hinge?
    But when n I take off the plastic cover on right side of passenger seat and look up I see daylight with good open. Maybe I could thread the hose thru there if it’s loose and doesn’t rub on metal?
    I went crazy a year ago trying to figure out what was wrong. I thought it was c a blender actuator door or something like that. I’ve never fixed anything before on a vehicle, but maybe I’ll try this one, myself.
    Would my check valve be the same part number for a 2012?

    instead of running your hose to the outside of the vehicle you can also go through the side of the dog house, just take one bolt out of the side of the wall and run it through there from your throttle body so you dont have to use so much vacuum hose. :)

    Was Bumming, Thought I found the solution. NOT Where I know this has worked for a ton of people. Mine would drop the air blower out of the vents when the van started any ascent or hard throttle to the defroster. Reran my line, even ordered to Vac. canisters and put them in that foot space. Major bumming when it STILL dropped out. Any answers? 2006 E350 Service Body owned since new! Ended up buying a dual head fan mounting to the ceiling which usually stirs the air enough to make it tolerable to get over the hills until it drops back in and blows out the vents again. Been dealing with this for 5 years now. Stinks !

    • @flmoseley8141
      @flmoseley8141 5 лет назад +2

      It's one of 2 things. Either the line coming up from the intake of the motor has a crack in it as well or you didnt put the correct vacuum reservoir on it and have the tubes connected to the wrong ports on your new check valve. You did put a t shaped check valve in your new line right?

      @@flmoseley8141 I can relate, ran a line through a hole in my doghouse to the throttle body in place of the red hose, comes inside, to a Ford check valve, then to a reservoir, has made no difference, so either the switches in the dash are leaking or a valve is, I have gotten tired of bothering with it. My 1973 E100 302 doesn't lose vacuum as often as this damn 99 5.4, doesn't even require wide open throttle, just get on a small hill, same roads driven by the 73, had a vacuum gauge in it and it kept pulling unless I floored it.
