Yes I remember that too. I posted this last year right before the pandemic started when I was just sitting and watching elf on the app Tubi TV because it let me screen record it. And I just thought I would post it. But yeah there were a number of references to Donald Trump in the show weren’t there?
We love the episode with Eddie. We always sing the song that Alf wrote for Lynn “I’m under your window, with my guitar, singing you this small ditty, please don’t be mad at me anymore, have I mentioned I think you’re pretty. Aye aye aye, I’m really sorry! Someone just threw a blanket on me, that’s why I’m suffocating!” Also the part where Kate is saying “ballerina” and the hand movement he makes when referring it going down the toilet. You can’t go wrong with Alf. I think my family quotes that show all the time bc it has such memorable lines/moments.

Yeah the show is definitely one for the ages. It transcends time if you ask me because it’s just funny. Even though there’s references to things that might not be relevant that doesn’t mean something can’t still be funnyAnd still age well. And Katie thank you for mentioning that episode yeah that song elf sings is funny and then he tries to fix his spaceship when he threatens to leave. And you’re right. In Russian version Alf says “Charge it to somebody else”. I do not know the reason.
Probably coz saying Donald trump works for an American audience as it’s kind of like an inside joke but a Russian audience may not relate much? Maybe.
Maybe the Russians didn't know who Donald Trump was at the time?
