    My favorite BBB is 23 and I am a BBB buyer, highest I have enjoyed so far is 29. I had a single barrel Tennessee 2 years ago I loved, and currently have an open single barrel Kentucky that after sipping around 1/3 of the bottle I think is best described as fireball for grown ups. Bother single barrel bottles are Total Wine picks. Thanks for the review, I will buy if I see somewhere in the wild.

    I can't bring myself to buy the Bourbon because it is $150+ cad ($110 usd) but Dovetail is only $85 USD in Alberta. I really like dovetail but it runs very hot. Still, the butter and rum and mango and red fruit really make me happy.

    Right in the same proof class... does it beat Rare Breed or OF 1920? It's double the price of Rare Breed and $30 more than OF. Does it justify the price?

    • @ItsBourbonNight
      @ItsBourbonNight  2 года назад +3

      I mean, that's always the question, isn't it? Between the 3, which one would be pick? Probably Rare Breed most of the time. Your question is very valid and it reminds me of another we get pretty often which is, this at X price, or Elijah Craig Barrel Proof at $70? And much like Rare Breed and 1920, ECBP sets another high bar that is tough to beat when comparing other Bourbons to it. I guess choosing this particular bottle is chalked up to variety. When you have bottles of Rare Breed, 1920 and ECBP at home already, and you're looking for something different, then here it is. Now, when price, or better yet, value, come into the question, then yeah, those other 3 bottles have this one beat.

      @@ItsBourbonNight Thank you for such a detailed response!!! I like being able to have different experiences and perhaps getting something unique costs A LITTLE more. I just am not seeing the value here unless it was at the very least as good as all those other bourbons and even slightly better. Maybe if it were $60 - $70 that'd be more reasonable, but $90 - $100 depending on your market seems to be asking a bit much. Just because it's unique doesn't mean it's valuable in my estimation. As such, I've never pulled the trigger on one of these. I've never even bought a Seagrass cause in my area they are at least $95. Maybe that one's worth the price because it is so good and unique.

    • @ItsBourbonNight
      @ItsBourbonNight  2 года назад +2

      @@TheMNbassHunter Of course! Yeah, Seagrass is worth it in our opinion. Unfortunately sourcing whiskey from multiple distilleries and then batching them is an expensive process, so I guess the typical “craft tax” and “sourcing tax” drives these up a little. But hey, nothing wrong with sticking with the bourbons you know and love!

    • @robd8167
      @robd8167 2 года назад +1

      Wanted to throw my two cents in - it’s just a “different” tasting experience. I’m a big fan of OF, WTRB, Barrell, but I think you have to throw pragmatism out the window once you cross the $75 price w whiskey. I do think Seagrass at $85 is worth the dough btw.

    • @TheMNbassHunter
      @TheMNbassHunter 2 года назад +1

      @@robd8167 I have to agree with you on crossing a price point threshold. I also agree that some where around $75 is that threshold. I base that on the current price I am seeing for ECPB. It seems to me that represents good value. There are so many great whiskeys below that price, each offering a different experience. I suppose for a really good finished whiskey I can appreciate paying a little more because there is a "value add" step in the process that costs them money to produce. So I can see paying a bit more for something like Seagrass which offers something different AND is a really good finished whiskey. I guess I don't understand paying a lot for blending. Maybe I just don't appreciate what "value" blending adds. A finishing barrel adds unique flavors not found it standard bourbon. To me, blending is mixing standard flavors just to make it different while not really adding anything. But hey... to each their own.

    I understand that this is a craft distillery but I feel like Barrell are pretty full of themselves asking around 100 for this bottle (what it is in WNC). There are sooooo many amazing bourbons from reputable distilleries for a lot less and with older juice.....WT RB, RRSB, OF 1920, KC 9 SBR 120 to list some.
