Trenton’s nose notes are so real! Love them - rotten sweat; latex gloves; old dog; floor scraping; old car seats; musty library book (artistic license invoked).
Great job as always. Request: Can you please put the bottle information (distillery/batch/proof/age statement/etc) of what you’re tasting in your videos in the video description? Thanks!
So my first Barrell purchase and taste was the Batch 35... Bought it today and immediately put it in four blinds: Barrel VS ECBP C922 VS Rare Breed : RB>EC>Barrel Barrel Vs 1920 Vs JDSBSBP: JD>1920>Barrel Barrel Vs 1920 Vs Rebel 100 Cask Str: Rebel > 1920 > Barrel Barrel Vs 1920 Vs Larceny BP A123: Barrel > 1920 > LBP Repeatedly put it vs 1920 because it felt close to 1920 and I had a feeling they may swap places eventually... and on the third blind they did. So I consider it roughly as tasty (to me) as 1920... I like it, but it's the second most expensive bottle of bourbon I've ever bought ($92), and it was handily beat by Rare Breed... which costs barely half as much ($49 here). Now it's not a bad bottle at all... it's very enjoyable... but at almost $100? I'd expect more. I am hoping it opens up and improves. And I expect it very well could. It's plenty complex and that leads me to believe it will. And I'm not trying to turn people off of Barrell at all... It's a delicious bottle; and to be fair Rare Breed is an ASSASSIN for making more expensive bottles seem overpriced. I am glad I finally tried it, but I almost wish I went with the $55 Foundation instead; as I think I wouldn't want to judge that bottle nearly as harshly... since it will actually be CHEAPER than Rare Breed in a lot of areas.
I have tried a number of Barrell products.. Batch 34, Batch 35, Seagrass, Ambruna, and Armada. All are really good, but I especially enjoy those first 3. Barrell does not miss
I was skeptical about BCS Dovetail but was highly impressed with the first (and all subsequent) pours. This has been true of all BCS batches I’ve had to date. They do a great job of blending fabulous batches.
Love channel! Got into bourbon neat around Christmas and have been consuming content and buying bottles like there's no tomorrow. My dad and I enjoy and bond over golf the way you guys do with bourbon...hoping we can add bourbon to our list of ways to bond. Keep up the great work guys. Masterful...
I met the owner of Augusta when I visited the distillery. They also have “ Old Route 8” first edition, which is the same mash build as the Buckner’s 13 yr old except it’s only 8 years old for $119. Pretty tasty!!! Enjoy!
Echo Spirits is in Columbus, Ohio. We have a nice selection of distilleries here in Columbus including Middle West Spirits, Watershed Distillery and Highbanks Distillery which are turning out some great whiskies and other liquors. Have not tried Echo yet but I will stop by their bar to sample some.

Just got that Augusta Buckner's 13 last night at Kroger for $165. Holy smokes! What a rich, delicious pour. Absolutely decadent. If you're on the fence, definitely go for it.
Watching Trenton chuckle, snort, and choke his way through parts of this video was extremely amusing - 'not in a bad way' though. Lol 'Smartie encrusted balloon' is another Trenton classic to add to the "Trenton's Classic Tasting Notes" book - due out shortly! $29.95 GREAT bartop book !!
Picked up the RD1 finished with Amburana Casks and opened it up last weekend. Tastes like an Apple Cinnamon cereal. Love Barrel batch 33, 34 and Vantage. Hearing 35 is spicy, but good. 🥃
Bourbon Junkies guys were spot on with my palette for the RD1. Its just straight up Cinnamon Apple Quaker Oatmeal on the nose and palette. Absolutely wild and delicious
That RD One amburana finish is amazing. So glad I picked up a bottle of it. I think it's like drinking a glass of apple cinnamon instant oatmeal. It's delightful.
The RD One is based around Lexington/Harrodsburg KY area, and the University of Kentucky's head football coach, Mark Stoops, is one of the owner's/major investors. They are fairly new and have released about 4 expressions so far
Barrell has Stellum Bourbon about 114 proof,a price point of about 60 clams here in Nashvagas...they wanted to create a more affordable drink. It's very awesome and also in the house. It borders 1920 Old Forester profile which makes me wonder if they get barrels from Old Forester / Brown Foreman?? It's definitely worth the price for sure a pleasurable sip.
I’d really appreciate a video on amburana finishes, specifically the ASW fiddler amburana finish, haven’t heard much about it nor the other amburana finishes you mentioned having in the past. Thanks for all you do!
Trenton... the Melon Handler.... Have seen that Barrel bottle in our stores, wanted to pick it up but have a hard time opening these bottles that are hard to find....
Kurt, RD1 is sort of sourced as I understand. It’s being made by Green River and soon by Western Distilling who RD1 partially owns. Their master distiller is Jacob Call who left Green River to start Western.
I will never buy any of these Bourbons but I still love you guys talking about them...another great video. Let's hope for another jump in subs soon - 120 to 200K by the end of the year.
Oh those ole bad hornets stinging our sweet Trenton! Well you’re still cute as ever and glad your cousin talked you into going to the hospital! Hope you feel better. I’ve heard many good things about the Barrel bourbon so will have to get a bottle. Happy Birthday to Mamma! 🥃
Hi - I don't recall seeing a video where you try something from Rabbit Hole distillery. I'm located in Ottawa, Canada and so my access to the various brands you show and review is quite limited/restricted based on what the liquor control board decides to buy for Ontario consumption. My wife bought me a bottle of Rabbit Hole Cavehill and just wondering your thoughts on that or another Rabbit Hole offering.
We’re does Trenton come up with the analysis on the nose. “ spread crushed up smarties on a latex balloon “. Lol. The imagination knows no boundaries and Trenton proves that every time. Keep up the great work Gentlemen.
Great Video. I would love to try Buckner, but at that price, I may need to sample it before buying. I love Barrel products. I have about 7-8 different bottles. I just bought batch 34. I'll have to check and see annoy 35. I own Armida, Vantage, Dovetail, Seagrass, one finished in Oloroso Sherry Cask, another on Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask and 2 others. The ones I've tried have all been great.
Glad your ok! Shelving bottles to taste when my young sons turn 21 based on your recommendations. They’ll have 14 years + of different releases to try thanks to you! Cheers!
Ground hornets are nasty business for sure. I got popped on the elbow a while back, and ended up with a grapefruit sized swelling on that elbow. Not good!
Trenton - please take care of yourself. You probably should not have been drinking tonight but thanks for the sacrifice - we always appreciate you guys.
Dude, I've had to get rid of FOUR yellow jacket nests in my lawn this year. FOUR. I've never seen so many nests in the same season. Got stung once on the thigh while mowing. Little demon crawled up my pants.
I've a question of the creators team as well as the commenting community. I drink Knob Creek as my 'go to' bourbon. It tastes great to me and treats me right, but can be expensive for a 'go to'. I enjoy other higher end offerings as a treat and certainly am not thinking about putting the Knob out to pasture, however, I would like to know if the community here could recommend other less expensive offerings that may be comparable in taste and experience? I will drink Jim Beams offerings when it is the only reasonable choice and actually prefer it to something like Jack but didn't know if there is some middle ground offering that might be worth considering? TIA for suggestions.
Jim Beam stuff is a bit nutty (sounds like your tastes are like mine), for less money maybe try Evan Williams BIB (white label) or their 1783. Also Elijah Craig might be similar enough, but more affordable
@@troybornhorst9173 Thanks for those suggestions. I will look for that Bottled in Bond Evan Williams. I like Elijah Craig and particularly their more aged options but also find that it will build up on you with a heavy charcoal flavor due to that. I am fairly sure the 1783 is available at my local stop, I think they bought a barrel.
I got stung by a couple hornets almost 10 years ago, and also got cellulitis from them. The antibiotics will do things to your system, but definitely make sure you take them all. Hope you have a full recovery. And that it's faster than mine was; that spot still gets itchy on occasion
Ground hornets are the worst! Let them enjoy some gasoline vapors while covered by an old discarded blanket. I can see where I need to pay attention for that Barrel Bourbon batch 35! Great show! Cheers!
Never had Barrel bourbon, I’ve been interested but the ones I see are $80-$90 and I’m still on the fence for that amount especially for nondistillers blended bourbon. One day maybe haha
They are pricy considering it's sourced and blended. But I've had some really good products of theirs and would say it's worth trying, even at the price point!
I have the Dovetail and it’s nice but my palette isn’t refined enough to enjoy it for what it is. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on a bottle. Hard for me to do it again.
