We have been silent about this issue for many years and have seen so many customers hurt by this.
I am very careful to speak the truth on issues and have skated around this one. Today looking around our shop seeing all that are inoperable someone has to say something.
We have one customer that has replaced 3. Blew air into it, the stuff that cleans key boards, and still had to replace. This technology is not for dirty and dusty conditions with rain and everything else that these mowers face.

Thanks, I did my research and opted for Timecutter 75750 50" in my price range for the average homeowner less than 3 acres. Just like the newer vehicles push button crap stay away same in power equipment space garbage.

Sucks for us but because they do effectively reduce the number of insurance claims involving small powered equipment, they will all likely be key pad equipped eventually.

I think by then they will be ready for the harsh conditions. For now I believe the industry should put these on the shelf until then, it’s cost our customers a lot of headache and time. One guy traded in his mower and lost thousands with 5 hours on the hour meter because he was older and couldn’t get the start button to push right and get started for him. He would bring it to my shop, we would push the button for him, and he would leave the mower cranked on the trailer till he got home to finish the yard. That lasted about 6 mows.

@@kgmowers surely eventually, like you said it’s likely going to be a pain for people until then.
As far as the old man’s situation, if it was operating as designed allowing your guys to start it each time without difficulty, then that situation is simply a failure of, or refusal to, understand how to correctly operate the equipment on the owners part.
As far as him losing thousands of dollars on a mower when he trades it in with only 4 hours on the clock, that’s either the dealer that initially sold it to him at an inflated price or the dealer that took it in on trade giving him far less than it was worth.
Nobody would buy a mower if the salesman explained that after you use it for just 4 hours it will depreciate 25%+.
And a dealer also won’t sell a used unit with just 4 hours on it for thousands less than a new unit either. It might be resold for a thousand dollars less than it was new but thousandS less?
Nah no way, it couldn’t of lost that much value with such little use, especially in this economy where my mowers price has went up so fast the past couple years it’s actually worth more now used, than what it cost when I bought it new.
Inflation effect itself should of just about made up for the depreciation he would suffer from just 4 hours of use.
One of the dealers involved was definitely greedy and skimmed thousands off that old man and his situation.
Anytime someone gets ripped off like that, somebody involved in the deal also has to be the one doing the ripping off. 👍

@@jaxturner7288 he got it at another dealer and they wouldn’t do anything. It’s a mower I had stopped selling and had a pretty bad reputation in my area so he understood the loss here. The good thing is we were able to flip his and sell it out of state, and he was able to get a mower that he could start :).

@@kgmowers lol of course you could, and after the guy spent thousands of dollars on a new mower, lost thousands trading it in after very little use and then spent thousands more for another new mower, I would certainly hope he did.

Why can't you swap in a key switch to replace those key pads?

    • @kgmowers
      @kgmowers  Год назад

We tried a push button, but it got to hot while the button was pushed. Tried a key switch on one, but when we almost had it their key pad came in and we never got to finish it. When your a dealer we try not to “rig” stuff up non factory.

@@kgmowers the key switch or push button will work. Hook it up to a starter relay so it's only a switch and all the current goes through the heavy duty relay. Type Ford starter solenoid. You'll recognize it when you see it. Common and easily available.
