- Wow, I didn't expect Mikael Åkerfeldt to just growl the whole time, but I have to say Opeth rips. I want to do a bunch more of their music on the channel, from my understanding Opeth has some singing and some growling songs, in their newer stuff. I loved how heavy the music was, I loved Mikael Åkerfeldt's voice. Can't wait to do more Opeth on the channel!
Drop some Opeth suggestions in the comments!
Let's take a look at OPETH - Heir Apparent | FIRST TIME Reaction

It’s crazy how effortlessly Akerfeldt growls in these performances.
Absolutely love Opeth! Please do more of their stuff.
Will do! 🤘
Always knew the Captain had good taste in music
That gnarly deep guttural growl, and than you look at the relaxed sweetest face that shows zero amount of strain, Åkerfelt is a master of his vocals
Ya, I noticed that. I did ghost of perdition last night gonna release it next week probably. When he does regular singing his mouth like hardly opens. Truly wild.
Very much enjoyed this! Always like honest reactions to live music!
For Opeth, the recording of their performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre is truly amazing! The obvious song to point out is "Ghost of Perdiotion", as it is the most viewed and shows off their incredible range quite well, but any song from that set is amazing in all honesty. Would highly recommend!
I recorded Ghosts of perdition 2 days ago, it’ll come out sometime next week! I really really enjoyed that song a lot!! 🤘🤘thx so much!
This is amazing! Wish you did the studio version though, that mix is one of the best you'll ever hear haha
I like live stuff better. Gives a better feel :)
Never seen this live performance before, they killed it! Almost as good as the studio and it’s live, that’s hard to do.
🤘
This is HARD! Love the switch in melodies!
🤘🤘
Their flawless execution and mix is the best live all around ever!
3:03 the HARDEST riff to ever exist 😅🔥
Oh yea and 9:30😂😂
Opeth and only Opeth❤
Love the reaction Bruce. As a swede i love these raxctions of Opeth. I like this, think its the first reaction i´ve seen on Heir Apperent. BIG shout ut from Sweden
Thanks!!! Opeth is so good, I listened to the mixed studio versions and they just sound fantastic!!
Yup. Opeth. "Rabbit Hole" next please.
🤘
This song has the heaviest riffs ever played in E standard, I think. Not down tuned at all, just regular. It's quite eye-opening.
It’s so good!
It should be noted that songs in E usually convey emotions of dissatisfaction and being ready to fight. Sometimes joy and delight, so if you put both of those interpretations together... perhaps taking pleasure in someone's downfall who deserved it.
One of the heaviest Opeth songs.
🤘🤘
Start with Prologue and April Etherial from the album My Arms, your Hearse. You´ll want to do the whole album after that start ;)
Ok! Thanks!
Opeth are on a different level technically and creatively when it comes to the average extreme metal band. Their ability to combine 70s, progressive rock with extreme metal is a real talent.
Ya, when I listened to the studio version I could really pick up how technical Opeth is, really something special
How he sings and plays these riffs is beyond comprehension.
I have to agree. He is quite talented on the guitar!! Love the growls to!! Ghost of perdition coming out next week at some point 🤘🤘
Ghost is epic, but Harlequin Forest is soooo goood. The acoustic breakdown in the middle is surreal. @@TheMindofBruce
@@recurrencetheorem4264 I got that one on the list to!! So much to do! 😹😹🤘🤘
My favorite Band :3 would love to see you checking out more by them!
But imho I would love to see you check out the studio versions first! Even though they are great live, a lot of the atmosphere and extra layers/drum fills often get lossed live.
Some suggestions what you could check out next by them:
Ghost of Perdition
Deliverance
Harlequin Forest
I think I’m gonna do ghost of perdition for next week!
Awesome, can't wait! :) @@TheMindofBruce
to think mikael's harsh vocals were absolutely the best in metal till 2009
🤘🤘
🔥🔥❤Opeth❤🔥🔥
Now that's how you start a rabbit hole!
The softer side is Coil, the first track that is usually suggested to do before Heir Apparent.
********** A few Opeth suggestions:
The Baying of the Hounds, Ghost of Perdition (live from Red Rocks) ruclips.net/video/BAlDEcQMLio/видео.html
Harlequin Forest ( live at Royal Albert Hall ) ruclips.net/video/0HRett4kOpM/видео.html
Hessian Peel
Subbed for more Opeth!!!!
Thanks!! Much more Opeth to come! Really dig their sound and vibe. 🤘🤘
@@TheMindofBruce Great! 🤘🙂🤘
Great to see, that you still keep up the work of commenting on Opeth Reactions 😄💕 Unfortunately I'm currently not finding that much time 😪
@@Zitronenparty Hi! Great to see you again.
Yeah, catching Opeth reactions is the best part of being retired. 🤘😊🤘
@@floridabelle"Welcome back my friend, to the show that never ends" 😊
(look up the old 70's "prog quote" if you didn't get it 😉)
Sounds proper biblical to me. The dark side.
Ya, kinda feel the same after re listening. Thanks!! 🤘🤘
@@TheMindofBruceRecently started going to an Eastern Orthodox Church and am in a real liminal space regarding Opeth. My second favourite all time track Hessian Peel has no problem with actually referring to satan as "sweet" (backwards I might add), but their music is so amazing. The Baying of the Hounds is my all time fave. You should definitely check those out or even better do a reaction to either or both. Cheers
@@hackandslash873 thanks for the suggestions! I’ll eventually get to them! Ghosts of perdition is probably the next one
@@TheMindofBruce Yeah that's a good one you'll like it for sure. Looking forward to the others later on then. Cheers
