Thank you so much for this interview. It’s fascinating to hear his story and his journey to seek asylum in the UK. I’ve noticed some people in the comments disparaging his claims, but based on my experience with many Mexicans and Mexican-Americans in Los Angeles (my family included), he seems and sounds authentically Mexican to me. Living in Los Angeles, I never gave much thought to cartels being around. The local gangs (cholos) always seemed like enough to worry about. But one time, I was at a restaurant with a friend-she’s from Los Angeles, and her parents are from Tijuana-and I made a joke about the cartels. She shot me a look that said, “Don’t go there.” She explained that people associated with the cartels are everywhere. That really surprised me. I’ve been to London many times, and I absolutely love it there. People were surprisingly kind to me in London-kinder than I’m used to in my hometown of Los Angeles. I’d jump at the chance to live there someday-there’s so much history!
My GF is from Mexico , she also wanted to live here in the UK, I told her no chance Mexico is a far nicer cheaper country , I am looking to retire there in 15 years or so
Sick of how many "belive" he must be involved with the cartel's, I know several business owners who left Michoacán due to threats for "cobro de piso" wich means literally "floor fees" an it's usually a monthly "tax" cartel's collect, many times the business basicly end with no earnings at all or worse, many ended with no money for the employess pay checks, criminals go to the business location and threatened the owner to kill him or a family member if they don't pay, so they closed, sell everything they can and left the hell out of there, Sometimes the people who threaten are not even from a cartel, they only pretend, but they still may kill you because of the impunity. The simple fact that this guy shows his face means that he could have been threatned that way, UK govt need to have proof of the reasons for his asylum, and extortion of this type leaves many traces, on the cell phone, on video, in letters, etc. As Mexicans we know that it is extremely rare for cartels or gangs that collect "cobro de piso" to pursue those who flee, even more if they fleed so far away.
this dude had to be involved with them or their rivals, ain't no way the cartels hunting for a taco vender unless you had some serious dealings with them 😂
It's extorsion. Cartels charge business owners (no matter how small) a fee for doing business in their territory. Pay or die. Cops do nothing because they get a cut of the profits. It's also less risky and dangerous than moving drugs.
I’m a Mexican living in the UK and this man does not have a typical Mexican accent whatsoever. I don’t know if he has a Muslim ancestry, but I just looking at him with a side eye. My dad has a strongest accent Mexican ever. It sounds nothing like this bloke.
I disagree. I'm Mexican-American living in Los Angeles and we get Mexican here from all over Mexico and everyone has a different accent in English depending on what state they are from. Mexicans from the North speak English a lot differently from Mexicans in the South or from CDMX. I have enjoyed hearing the British-Mexican accent in these videos. All the people interviewed (in the other video) sound different. There's nothing fishy about it.
Need to taste this man’s food and hear him speak in Spanish to know he’s really Mexican. I don’t believe he is at all. He seems Middle Eastern and promoting a Mexican style eatery.
No if you have a good food business running so many people have get kill for it, beacuse they just go and ask for money to let you keep working, people in Mexico knows I’m not lying
I guess nobody told this guy Cartels aren't in every inch of Mexico! Lol I own land in Mexico and I've never seen a single Cartel in my life ! I also live in Chicago and never witnessed a single crime ! All the crap you hear in the news is always in specific areas , just dont live there and youll be fine , no need to run away to another continent
@@carlcast1286 yeah sounds like you don’t know what you’re talking about unless you’re just being racist. I know you don’t need any more curry and kebab places there.
Not buying this guy story. No way. Cartels aren't going aftet random people. I feel safer in Mexico than in the US. Crime in Mexico isn't random. You get targeted by the cartel is for a reason. While living in the US i have seen people get shot in public placed at least twice in a span of a year. Living in Mexico i have yet to see even a mugging. Also homelessness is lower than sweden and no junkies in the streets. Mexico has its poverty issues but to me not as bad as what is happening in the US.
This guy was involved and or he was a snitch. Just saying he could have gone to the USA or Canada. But he went to the UK. This guy ain’t telling the truth about why he moved to the UK. Something shady about this guy. I am Mexican American. But I prefer to be in Mexico. It’s a wonderful country loving wonderful people. The culture traditions and life is just Beautiful and amazing. The food is the absolute Best in the world. Also Mexico is progressing. Its on economic boom and it’s the next manufacturing giant. Not to mention all the innovations and tech that is happening there. I hope to move to Mexico permanently in the near future. Mexico is a beautiful amazing country. It’s not perfect every country has its problems. But don’t believe all the propaganda on the news.
Could be, but you shouldn’t assume. Por que tu no sabes. As a Mexican American I know growing up in Southern California the culture of cartel, that a lot of asylum seekers go through this. He could’ve had his business targeted by the cartel to pay them fees for protection or just because they ran the area. Don’t put ideas here about him out there. The story is about Mexicans in England. I dont get foos like you.

There’s a huge Lebanese community in Mexico. It would make sense. 😂
But they still talk with a Mexican accent if they grew up there

lol some Arabs look Mexican and vice versa
He's far more mexican than middle-eastern. He shows no characteristics of someone from the middle east/muslim country
Cartels wanted him for a reason, they usually leave people alone unless you are part of the cartel
That's Not true. in small towns there's Extortion to business owners and kidnappings and the victims aren't in the cartel
