I love the fact that you guys test drive and drag race cars that more people can practically afford and would love to compare! Kudos to you guys!
True facts my guy. Most of these review channels will focus on high-end cars that most people will never own or a focus on a car that's heavily modified it's a good to see this channel. Power steering cars that you can go out and buy for around $30,000
@DC Williams you can buy like 3 year old mint bmw if you really wanted for 30k under (235i )
@@Ps3xSNiPeR yeah but that isn't really reliable and there isn't really an affordable support system for when it breaks down.
@@Ps3xSNiPeR BMWs also decrease in value rather quickly compared to a Honda or toyota
Here in my country a Civic Type R cost 120k
Ill say this, you cant go wrong with a Toyota or Honda. So if you pick one, you always win.
Expect your wallet lol
Theyre both roughly the same cost.

@@Justadudeman22 right
Yeah
Honda should come out with a ACCORD TYPE-R !
Good idea
the should make a sport CR-V ELITE with the sport package
Lol, I think they did it for the civic because all you can get for any civic is a inline 4 where you can get a v6 or a 2.0 turbo on the accord.
Add the Acura TLX Aspec to the mix!
They don’t make accord hatchbacks, and the whole point of the type r is to be a hot hatch
It’s sad that Toyota turned the TRD badge into little more than an aesthetic body kit. I love the looks of the Camry TRD, but it really should have a manual option and a slightly upgraded V6 VVTi engine to match Honda's VTEC engine (even if it only gives 5, 10, or 15 extra hp).
It’s always good to see the beautiful Honda Civic Type R and Honda Accord 2.0T Sport in Throttle House’s hands.
Toyota is too lazy to sit down and develop
The TRD camry actually has Track tuned Suspention. But I 100% agree with you
I remeber when the toyota aurion from Australia, the TRD version had a supercharger fir the 2gr-fe v6 engine.
VVTL-i maybe?
Well the hp did bump up to 301hp V6. I think it is heavy though. Toyota TRD badge should automatically put a TRD supercharger in standard for that badge.

auto rev-matching though
@@GuerrillaGorilla023 rev matching doesn’t affect up shifting...
@@Camryn-ju3tp some degree of it should come into play unless you're granny shifting though, no? Blipping the throttle definitely makes a difference in my bmw whether I'm shifting up or down. Granted, I never drove a car with auto rev-matching so I'm speculating.
@@GuerrillaGorilla023 the auto rev match in the FK8 only engages if your down shifting. Also I don’t think there’s really a need to blip the throttle unless like you had said “granny shifting” I might be wrong on the second part, but I do know that the auto rev match system doesn’t help you while your up shifting.
Edit: you could rev while upshifting now that I think about it because I’ve used the flat foot shifting technique before and I guess that’s similar to blipping the throttle
I mean the throws are different on different cars. People install short shifters all the time.

I have a 2013 camry 4 cyl and honestly all my friends that drive new Hondas, BMW, audi, and it kept up really good. Highway driving and easily kept up. Pick up, not the best
i mean give then accord shares the same motor but is equipped with a 10spd auto, it makes perfect sense that the accord can keep up. And the TRD is a V6 so again, makes sense that they can keep up with a vehicle that's specialty is cornering.

Damn! I have a 19 Accord Sport 2.0T. I'm highly impressed by that drag race!
I have a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T and that was super close. The fact the Type R is lighter and has 54 hp and 22 TQ more than the accord is all you need to know as to how impressive the Accord 2.0T is. Obviously the engine is vastly underrated and it has a smaller turbo than the Type R which gives quicker torque for around city driving. Meaning if you try to street race a Type R on public road, you will most likely win the race unless it goes on to well over 100mph😂
I really didn't expect my TRD to do that well against a Type R. I thought it would be left a mile behind. This was really fun though! For my money I still have to pick the TRD though. Costs less and far more comfy for my trips from Ohio to Florida.

How about a race between the Accord 2.0T and the Kia Stinger 2.5 GT Line. Should be a great race!
I’ve got a 2016 accord coupe with Honda’s V6, and I’ve been surprised by how quick that thing is when it gets going!
I don’t know why everyone rags on the Accord. It consistently outperforms it’s expectations. I own a 1.5 and it’s just a grocery getter, but it’s the best daily driver I have ever owned.
I have a 2018 Accord 1.5T Touring (the only model year they had that engine in the Touring) and it is outstanding, even with the CVT. Got 46,000 miles on it now and it's going strong.
I like accords. Their not bad at all. I have a civic hatchback. I just think the civics look a little sportier

It would be close with just a tune.
With civic type r turbo upgrade, e85 kit, upgraded downpipe, intercooler and intake it can run a 12.4. So for about $5k in parts + labor you can have a mid to low 12 second accord.
The Type-R is a wonderful car, very quick and a blast to drive. But since I see on a daily basis how much care has to go into them I'll go with a last gen SI.
How much? I was debating over getting a type r and si but can’t decide

The Camry TRD is still the better car overall. I've one car with a turbo and will never own one again. I remember the mechanic telling it was beginning to go out and would cost $3,000 to replace. I'll take naturally aspirated over turbo any day and twice on Sunday!
It would be very nice if you can give us time you do on the 1/4 miles (400 m) race to figure stength between all the car you race. Thanks for the video.
They already explained on the last video, that they do not time the races. Why you ask? Because they are on an airstrip and not a prepped drag strip, times are irrelevant. And they are correct.

@@kamahlsangdragon6753 I agree with you bc at the stop light it isn’t a prepped surface and that’s where my drag races will be!
Agreed here. I'm sure they would get heat for the times not being the same as the "C&D, MotorTrend, etc." But with a disclaimer, it would be great to have comparisons across the board like they do for the lap times.
@@dabarou its really not a bad idea! But I also completely understand their point of view. It would be interesting to know what street 1/4 mile times would be. But then again, you almost never race a full 1/4 mile from stop light to stop light. More like 1/8th mile times.
Great comparison. No real surprise to anyone, Type R won. That thing is a track weapon that just happens to have four doors and a usable trunk. Funny to think people would cross shop a Type R and a Camry but we did. We wanted something fun to drive, practical and reliable. Before we got our Type R, with money in hand, our short list was the the Hyundai Veloster N, the Honda Civic Type R and the Toyota Camry TRD. The Hyundai with its 100,000 mile warranty was not available in the color we wanted and the Camry was a little too big for our garage AND it did not come in a manual. Not having the Camry TRD with a manual option is a big missed opportunity for Toyota. Sure you might loose some seconds in a drag race but for driving enthusiasts it is also about the thrill of the drive and rowing your own gears give you that. We were able to find a new Type R at MSRP within our hemisphere and snatched it up. Oh well, turns out we ended up with the fastest car and the most fun car to drive but when you factor in the savings by a few thousand with the other cars, that choice is not always so clear cut in the beginning. Again, well done.
Lose seconds? I’ve always been faster with manual transmission.
Yeah Verses old automatic but the matte of facts is that manual are going away because automatic transmission have gotten so quick that even a professional race car drive wouldn’t be able to row thru the gears quick enough as today’s dual clutch autos
Why was the Subaru wrx STI not on that list? It fits the description you’re looking for and the interior is roomy as hell lol.
@@Eric-qx7fg I was a little weary of that all wheel drive system. I don't live in a place where I need it and I did not know how reliable they were. How is the reliability of a Subaru WRX STI? I absolutely love the S209 even though the price is a little up there.
@@judethree4405 You might actually be right with this automatic in the Camry because I hear a lot of power is lost in this torque converter.
There should be a special TRD supercharged version of the Camry 400-plus horsepower
The transmission in the TRD holds it back so much.
Because its a more reliable transmission than Honda or any other brand. Toyota stays with what works and doesn't come out with a crap ton of new things until they've done extensive testing.

I own a 2018 fk8 type R and just bought the 2021 Honda Accord 2.0T touring for my wife. I can attest that 10 speed transmission makes the Accord surprisingly fast! Once they both get into curves on the road the Type R will leave the Accord in the dust.
That top end on the R crazy i thought for sure that 10 speed accord was going take it both times
Drag race is always enjoyable :)
I knew the CTR was going to win but the Camry TRD was much closer than I thought it'd be!
You just made all Type-R owners heads explode...
That’s a bit embarrassing how close those races are LOL
This video focused 100% on straight-line acceleration.
However, what sets the Civic Type R apart from other cars is its handling.
The Accord does handle quite well for a family sedan. But the Civic Type R is in a whole different league, when it comes to handling.
If these same cars were to race around a race track, the Civic Type R would win. It would not even be close.
The Civic Type R is closer to Ferrari level of handling than it is compared to the cars in this video. However good you think the Civic Type R can take turns at speed, you are mistaken. It is better than whatever you think it can do.
Most people love to focus on straight-line acceleration -- including me. But I also love a car that can do 1+ Gs around a turn, and that is where the Civic Type R shines.
The Civic Type R is an all-around race car, with none of the "money pit" problems associated with other sport's cars. In other words, the Civic Type R is super reliable, and a blast to drive. That is an almost impossible marriage. And it even gets good gas mileage.
If only the Civic Type R did not look like a monstrosity aimed at the children's market, I would consider purchasing one. And if Honda married it to their 10-speed automatic transmission, it would take the car to new heights.
Cheers!
The Type R is still utterly hideous, so none of that handling really matters, unfortunately.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 Honda is stubborn with the Civic Type R looks.
If they made it look sporty...
If they made it look as good as it drives...
I suspect that sales would increase quite a bit.
But they are stubborn.
Right now, their customer base is limited to just those that crave a great handling, reliable car, and can tolerate its looks (as well as a handful of people that probably like the way it looks -- some people like ugly).
And if they offered the Civic Type R with the same 10-speed automatic transmission in the Accord, they would increase sales, further, especially with all of the press they would get on how much faster the car can launch, as well as faster 0-60 and faster ¼-mile times.
I purchased the Accord. I would have preferred the additional performance of the Civic Type R. But I just could not get past its looks.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 so you're for looks over functions. Damn.. sucks to be you.
@@stilmotionpicture No, I just don't want to drive around in a clown car. I'm not 16 years old. Nor can you max out its handling on the public street, so it doesn't matter. I have a crossover that smashes the Type R in performance, anyway..
@@nickmotsarsky4382 you need to do a lot more research about the Type R. Sorry, but Maybe the Type R is not for you.
I have a tuned 6spd 2.0 accord and this video has given me a ton of confidence against a Type R. Love the content! These are the races normal guys want
I am so proud of that Toyota I didn't expect it do that.
Impressive for being about $16.000 less dollars.
Thomas: Why is this think so quick?
*Instant Regret*
Thomas again : OH no Oh NO
"Whats in that thing"
"Oh I don't know, but it's got some"
...
"But you had an ok launch"
"Yea my launch was ok"
"That was really close"
"Really close"
Grade A commentary boys
Here in Europe we see a 'TRD' badge and be like 'oh look, Toyota has a new diesel'
Amazed the Camry does as well as it does considering it is just a regular Camry V6.
You're an accountant. You're dead. LOL Loved that exchange.
"Last time he said that, he thought he invented toilet paper" 😂😂😂
I have a sport 2.0T with the 10 speed. I race at the 1/8 mile track and people always ask me, "is that stock"?
My favorite people to race on the street are guys with loud ass foxbody mustangs. If they haven't been turbo'd, it's pretty much an automatic win unless they dumped a ton of money on internals. My stock 2.0 sport hurts waaay more feelings than it should. Ha.
@@bhoffman8984 lmao you’re happy beating a 30+ year old mustang with less than 240 hp? 😂
You are an angel or what, guy with the beard. At @04:30 I told myself to go to the other RUclips channel (the guy races accord vs XYZ) and request a Accord vs Type R drag and the next line you said is "I have a Accord"
I've watched and loved many videos, this one made me subscribe. Great channel guys, thanks
