I love the fact that you guys test drive and drag race cars that more people can practically afford and would love to compare! Kudos to you guys!
True facts my guy. Most of these review channels will focus on high-end cars that most people will never own or a focus on a car that's heavily modified it's a good to see this channel. Power steering cars that you can go out and buy for around $30,000
@DC Williams you can buy like 3 year old mint bmw if you really wanted for 30k under (235i )

Good idea

Lol, I think they did it for the civic because all you can get for any civic is a inline 4 where you can get a v6 or a 2.0 turbo on the accord.
Add the Acura TLX Aspec to the mix!
They don’t make accord hatchbacks, and the whole point of the type r is to be a hot hatch

@@GuerrillaGorilla023 rev matching doesn’t affect up shifting...
@@Camryn-ju3tp some degree of it should come into play unless you're granny shifting though, no? Blipping the throttle definitely makes a difference in my bmw whether I'm shifting up or down. Granted, I never drove a car with auto rev-matching so I'm speculating.
@@GuerrillaGorilla023 the auto rev match in the FK8 only engages if your down shifting. Also I don’t think there’s really a need to blip the throttle unless like you had said “granny shifting” I might be wrong on the second part, but I do know that the auto rev match system doesn’t help you while your up shifting.
Edit: you could rev while upshifting now that I think about it because I’ve used the flat foot shifting technique before and I guess that’s similar to blipping the throttle
I mean the throws are different on different cars. People install short shifters all the time.
The surprise is the race we all wanted, but not the one we deserved
Should have bring the manual Accord..then maybe he could have won??? That Camry is weak from the get go..
@@tousshong9438 manual would've gotten slaughtered
It’s sad that Toyota turned the TRD badge into little more than an aesthetic body kit. I love the looks of the Camry TRD, but it really should have a manual option and a slightly upgraded V6 VVTi engine to match Honda's VTEC engine (even if it only gives 5, 10, or 15 extra hp).
It’s always good to see the beautiful Honda Civic Type R and Honda Accord 2.0T Sport in Throttle House’s hands.
Toyota is too lazy to sit down and develop
The TRD camry actually has Track tuned Suspention. But I 100% agree with you
I remeber when the toyota aurion from Australia, the TRD version had a supercharger fir the 2gr-fe v6 engine.
VVTL-i maybe?
Well the hp did bump up to 301hp V6. I think it is heavy though. Toyota TRD badge should automatically put a TRD supercharger in standard for that badge.

I am so proud of that Toyota I didn't expect it do that.
Impressive for being about $16.000 less dollars.
Great comparison. No real surprise to anyone, Type R won. That thing is a track weapon that just happens to have four doors and a usable trunk. Funny to think people would cross shop a Type R and a Camry but we did. We wanted something fun to drive, practical and reliable. Before we got our Type R, with money in hand, our short list was the the Hyundai Veloster N, the Honda Civic Type R and the Toyota Camry TRD. The Hyundai with its 100,000 mile warranty was not available in the color we wanted and the Camry was a little too big for our garage AND it did not come in a manual. Not having the Camry TRD with a manual option is a big missed opportunity for Toyota. Sure you might loose some seconds in a drag race but for driving enthusiasts it is also about the thrill of the drive and rowing your own gears give you that. We were able to find a new Type R at MSRP within our hemisphere and snatched it up. Oh well, turns out we ended up with the fastest car and the most fun car to drive but when you factor in the savings by a few thousand with the other cars, that choice is not always so clear cut in the beginning. Again, well done.
Lose seconds? I’ve always been faster with manual transmission.
Yeah Verses old automatic but the matte of facts is that manual are going away because automatic transmission have gotten so quick that even a professional race car drive wouldn’t be able to row thru the gears quick enough as today’s dual clutch autos
Why was the Subaru wrx STI not on that list? It fits the description you’re looking for and the interior is roomy as hell lol.
@@Eric-qx7fg I was a little weary of that all wheel drive system. I don't live in a place where I need it and I did not know how reliable they were. How is the reliability of a Subaru WRX STI? I absolutely love the S209 even though the price is a little up there.

The Accord does handle quite well for a family sedan. But the Civic Type R is in a whole different league, when it comes to handling.
If these same cars were to race around a race track, the Civic Type R would win. It would not even be close.
The Civic Type R is closer to Ferrari level of handling than it is compared to the cars in this video. However good you think the Civic Type R can take turns at speed, you are mistaken. It is better than whatever you think it can do.
Most people love to focus on straight-line acceleration -- including me. But I also love a car that can do 1+ Gs around a turn, and that is where the Civic Type R shines.
The Civic Type R is an all-around race car, with none of the "money pit" problems associated with other sport's cars. In other words, the Civic Type R is super reliable, and a blast to drive. That is an almost impossible marriage. And it even gets good gas mileage.
If only the Civic Type R did not look like a monstrosity aimed at the children's market, I would consider purchasing one. And if Honda married it to their 10-speed automatic transmission, it would take the car to new heights.
Cheers!
The Type R is still utterly hideous, so none of that handling really matters, unfortunately.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 Honda is stubborn with the Civic Type R looks.
If they made it look sporty...
If they made it look as good as it drives...
I suspect that sales would increase quite a bit.
But they are stubborn.
Right now, their customer base is limited to just those that crave a great handling, reliable car, and can tolerate its looks (as well as a handful of people that probably like the way it looks -- some people like ugly).
And if they offered the Civic Type R with the same 10-speed automatic transmission in the Accord, they would increase sales, further, especially with all of the press they would get on how much faster the car can launch, as well as faster 0-60 and faster ¼-mile times.
I purchased the Accord. I would have preferred the additional performance of the Civic Type R. But I just could not get past its looks.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 so you're for looks over functions. Damn.. sucks to be you.
@@stilmotionpicture No, I just don't want to drive around in a clown car. I'm not 16 years old. Nor can you max out its handling on the public street, so it doesn't matter. I have a crossover that smashes the Type R in performance, anyway..
@@nickmotsarsky4382 you need to do a lot more research about the Type R. Sorry, but Maybe the Type R is not for you.
4:50 is a great depiction of the car scene.
There ain't no way that camry TRD is as fast on track as a type R.
well, atleast it loses in a straight line like expected...
The Camry TRD would get absolutely destroyed by the civic on a track. There wouldn’t be a race.
@@djs18 I sure hope so. Its a basic camry with an exhaust and some body kit. Its literally a camry. Yet the Civic R barely beats in a straightaway which is what 99.9% of Type R buyers are doing. Thats why the STI will always be superior to both of them. AWD so it can actually function in snow and its faster.
@@TheAlphapuck5280 that’s if the sti isn’t in the shop or garage getting repaired. Lots of issues with the Subaru. Not so much with Toyota’s.
@@TheAlphapuck5280 If you think the civic type R owners buy this vehicle for a straight line speed, you’re out of your goddamn mind. The car is a track assassin and if it’s used for any other purpose, it should just be returned to the place where it was purchased. Honda never created this car for the dragstrip and Honda never claimed it was a drag car. Only teenagers, fools, and childish adults think it’s cute to dragstrip a type r. The car is just not designed for it.
Thomas: Why is this think so quick?
*Instant Regret*
Thomas again : OH no Oh NO
Got me with that surprise 😂 even better I own 18 accord touring!💪🏼💯👊🏼🤨
Out of those I still would take the accord.
They should make a accord type r lol
You all need to put the times, even if it doesn’t match the manufacturer’s specs, it will give us some sort of appreciation and gratification .
Honda's delay valving makes it hard to quickly shift any of their manual transmissions. I wonder if it is still possible to back date the clutch master/slave cylinders to pre-8th gen parts that did not have that valving. If not, the aftermarket will eventually fix that
You probably can on the 10th gen! I own a 9th gen si and people do it all the time
Love these videos. Doing the stuff we'd ll like to do with the cars that are affordable.
The type r is quick BUT takes ages to kick in. I want speed at the start of the race not at the end. The accord was quick BUT ITS A ACCORD! Didn't know accord's go that quick. So I'm sticking with the TRD, Mr dependable LOL
Honda limits the Launch rpm, limits power in 1st and 2nd - full power in 3rd gear
You can change this with a simple tune and gain 80hp 80tq at the same time lol
The beauty of a modern direct injection turbo car - easy power
Imagine how sick this type r rwd would be but I guess it wouldn't be a civic anymore
Exactly.
heavier car
less interior space
more whp loss
less traction over driving wheels
what they need to do is bring back the s2000
@@michaelgutierrez2690 agreed, a new s2000 would be great
@@michaelgutierrez2690 I cant see them bring back the S2000, I mean look at todays hondas, if honda brought back the s2000 it would maybe still look like a civic but just with a big front end an honda would have difficulties on redesigning the safe non fun fuel efficient to be made for rear wheel drive trains
