I made the whole thing in the food processor and it was great. Creamed the butter and sugar, added the bananas, sour cream and vanilla and pulsed until combined then the dry ingredients until just incorporated. Turned out perfectly. I did do the icing in the stand mixer.
Oh I will have to add this to the long list of your delights. Just a couple of months when the weather cools, I'll have to try this. Thanks for sharing!

Made this cake 9/16: came out great! Delicate crumb, such a nice texture. Really didn't think cake flour made a difference, BUT it really did make a fabulous cake

This looks an amazing cake and not the regular dense type of texture usually associated with a banana loaf/bread. Excited to make! As I will not be using cake flour but all purpose flour do I need to beat for one and a half minutes as I don’t want to develop the gluten in the flour and have a tough cake as a result? Your timing of this recipe is perfect for me as I need to use up some sour cream and bananas! Love your demonstrations Stephanie and your website. Your little dog also contributes to the show when there is a sudden bark or sigh! A little film star!!! Keep up the hard work. I made this cake today for our week end indulgence. Can't wait to cut it. I sampled the cream cheese icing. Wow!, and my fur baby loved the icing. I didn't put nuts in my icing because I added the nuts to the cake mix. We'll see soon!

I made this cake this evening and it came out perfect! I’d rather make this with ripe bananas then banana bread from now on. I did cut the sugar amount however. My family doesn’t like overly sweet desserts. Wonderful recipe! Thank you for sharing!
Such a great cake. I learned a trick to have ripe banana anytime without waiting. Just lay the bananas in baking tray and bake in the preheated oven at 350 F for about 10 minutes or untill the skins bacome black. You’ll have perfect riped banans. I’ve tried this method several times and works very well.
