- This is a very sad video to make! Me and my crew will be fishing our favorite lake... for the last time. A wealthy land developer bought the surrounding property and the lake as well. So, Fairfield Lake will be no more!! It truly breaks my heart to see it go, because the state of Texas had the opportunity to purchase it for a much cheaper price, a while back. So, this is a farewell to Fairfield.

I heard it was sold to a Dallas real estate developer that wants to build a private gated community with a golf course...If that's the case its pretty sickening and I'm surprised the people of fairfeild didn't fight against this.
That is true. The people did try to fight it but they didn't stand a chance against the guy's money.

I hate that they sold Lake Fairfield. You should check out Lake Limestone. Its some good slabs out there.

Nah boi don't hate on the split shot double jig rig it adds the perfect amount of weight sometimes when you need that extra distance from the bank. But I would have to agree it is kind of silly to use it on a boat.

Hate to see them sell off a lake for private real estate development. What lake are you going to do your guides on? Was planning on doing a guided trip with my father in law for blue gill or crappie. Is this still going to be possible?

The lake was Fairfield. And I have fixed my boat I replaced that motor and put on a more reliable one I am back rolling.

Wow it's sad fishing is the one thing many enjoy doing that can bring all walks of life together. Money is destroying the gift God has given us which is the fruit of this land. Will the new owner allow fishing until the development starts? Is he planning on draining the lake? When will the lake be closed?
No the owner is the land developer He's only interested in making money The lake will stay it will be only available to the residents. It will be a luxury private community.
Oh wow, is someone buying property on that lake. Will it be considered a private lake? I know you will miss catching all those slabs. Wish they get that big in Louisiana.

The state park was dragging their feet. They could have bought Fairfield long time ago when it first came up for sale for 22 million. They didn't do it thinking they would get a new landlord and just continue like they had, but this guy changed the plans.

Never understood how a state can 'Sell' a natural lake, river, or anything else it didn't buy itself, but was there before anyone else were born? There should be a clause in any land contract surrounding any major lake that requires the purchaser to leave a 'Public Access' point for the lake, or the state withholds an portion of the land from the purchase specifically for public access. IMO.
Luminate energy were the owners of the property they were the ones who sold it to the land developer. They tried to sell it to the state years back when they could have bought it for 22 million The states sat on their hands and allowed this opportunity to pop up where the land developer could purchase it he bought it for $110 million.
There was 5,000 acres included with the lake.

😢 Maybe you can contact developer and he will give you exclusive rights to fish. I know a guy that has done that at what they call gibbons creek. I believe the people actually reached out to to him among a few others after running across all their RUclips videos there. Its dubbed population control. Worth a shot! He is also allowed to bring a guest when he goes.

I've been removed from a few childhood places over the years for the same reason here in Oregon. I'll be just north of Dallas Crappie and Bass fishing for a week in late April. If you're around the area, I'd like to fish with you. 🤷🏿♂️🤙🏿
