Dee Crappie, what’s going on my brother? My name is Jimmie Epperson. I’m from Humboldt, Tennessee. Between Memphis,Tn. & Nashville, Tn. But North of Jackson, Tn. It’s really not a good place to fish for crappie around here. Everybody that has private places. They won’t let you fish on them. Plus, I fish from the bank. I’m thinking about moving to Texas. Because it’s better fishing there to me. I mean, there are many backwaters, slues, lakes, rivers, and nice, large size ponds that are jammed with crappies. Dee Crappie, I love to fish!! Whether it’s crappies, bluegills, she’ll crackers, or catfish. I love it!! I always thought that, that was my calling. I’m thinking that, that is what I was called to do. I’ve been fishing every since I was seven years old. Been doing it every since. I’ll be 57 in September. 50 years!! Let me tell you this and I’m going to get off here. When my other three brothers and I were out of school for the Summer. We went fishing every day for three months, without missing a day. That’s how we loved it.

Jimmie, Texas is rich with bodies of water... no doubt. Reading your comment reminded me of my upbringing fishing various ponds and lakes with family members...priceless. Those were the good old days but there are still many more to come as long as God says the same.

Fishing kept you out of trouble and kept food on your table. I've taught many people how to fish but I especially like to train kids. When they catch a fish, you see the most genuine smile that has ever been produced. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime! God bless.😅

That's my type of fishing. An older gentlemen told me years ago that if I hook my minnows in the tail that they would live longer. I didn't believe him until I tried it and he was right, been hooking them in the back of the tail ever since. With minnows you do catch multiple species of fish other than crappie but at least you got a meal.

Just a suggestion what I do to keep my minnows alive . I have a 10 gallon aquarium with aration . Drop a couple pieces of hard dog food or some bread to feed them. When the water starts getting dirty change it out . I've kept them alive for better than a month. As long as you keep the water halfway clean. I just use a bowl to scoop the dirty water out.

There's a lot of big bass I've caught crappie fishing with minnows out there too. A friend owns all the property on the left side of the dam along with the island. Caught double digit bass over there too.

I have tried to hook minnows any way you can hook them, and it seems to me that you have confidence in the way you hook your own minnows, will make you feel more confident in the way you fish, I have been chasing crappie for 30+ years now and still can’t get enough. Just retired so I can fish even more.

Ok...a few things i had fun with lol.
    1. Bro bought damn there shiners.
    2. Then put baby shiner on jig...very big profile presentation for fish off feeding times.
    3. Tiny jig, but minow 3x the size of the jig which catch the crappie. Try matching minnows to your jig size and use the minnow without the jig so he swims freely.
    4. Great video. I laught the entire time especially the hat!

A jig and minnow combo has been a long time Walleye catcher. BUT,.I agree,..the minnow alone,... I always thought did the real work in attracting and catching. Either will work,..separately,..but some do use them together on Walleye especially.

Dee Crappie why you chasing them minnows around? Where I’m from we just grab them straight out the minnow net..you must got gas on them hands😁

i see you missing the trim tab and strainer plate on your outboard. get those replaced ASAP! i didn't realize my strainer plate was missing when i bought my boat. i fished a weedy lake this spring and sucked up a bunch of junk into the impeller. cost me a few hours of repair and some parts. be well duder!

My mom had a crappie recipe that was simply honey, baked and Delicious...been too long...

Fraidykat, you know Mom's cooking is the best! 😁

@@Deecrappie My grandma's go-to trout recipe involved battering the trout fillets in cornmeal and then baking them, she was originally from Florida. I think my mom was doing something similar with crappie until we took some fillets to a good friend of my mom's and she baked it up with honey...maybe olive oil too. End result, we never saw crappie battered in cornmeal again.
I'll have to ask my mom about this.
My grandma and grandpa are not missed by any fish anywhere, they'd reel in 50 or 70 without giving it a second thought if they were biting good and call it Tuesday...
Catching them is half of it, eating them is the other half. I haven't gone back to see how much of your content covers the cooking part, but if the cooking has been light, there's a quick double your content right there!

Great content!! Question I have a private small lake that’s filled with slab black crappie. Only thing it’s filled with Lilly’s and hydrilla every where. What would be your suggestions on where and how to fish it. Thanks in advance for your feedback

I have heard of people with a long rake making holes and fishing the holes- we have a lot of floating mats of hyacinths here in Louisiana

Watching you guys constantly here in Largo FL. Truly enjoying the videos. Just wishing we had big lakes in this area. But lake tarpon has some true slab crappies also. Keep up the good fishing, and stay Blessed.
