I thought it was a great video and a nice change of pace. Yes I would watch more of this. Many RUclipsr channels I watch have morphed and changed over the years while still maintaining their original personality. This is a great channel. Keep up the good work.👍
I was 9 years old when all of this happened. I remember my folks watching it on TV. I also remember vividly, the Zodiac murders in the SF Bay Area. When those happened, all the mothers in our neighborhood, including my mom, made sure all of us kids were in the house by nightfall. Even though we lived 80 miles south of the Bay Area. LOL. I also remember all of the dads, including mine, went around FULLY ARMED during those Hippie Dippie days, just in case. Yep, in those days, a man could do that in California, with no one's permission!
The most creepy thing about all of this is that Charles Mason have young followers today. Even after his death, young people still send him fan letters.
Very cool video, I usually don't get to see the milky-way like that anymore, i was able to when I was a kid. It's nice you guys were able to do rhat together. Thanks for taking us along with you guys
I'm a little surprised souvenir thieves haven't picked the site clean; maybe the ranch isn't advertised much? Thanks for doing something different & sharing it!
I remember that. My neighbor, and his partner, were the first two policemen on the Sharon Tate murder scene. Vincent Bugliosi mentioned him ins book, "Helter Skelter". This man would not want me to mention his name, so I won't. My neighbor was a good man who suffered PTSD from that incident. His son was my friend. RIP to both of them. R, Steve. ...p.s. Charlie was more likely influenced by LSD, weed, uppers, downers, alcohol, and generally being a psychopath. Mixup, what motivated you guys to do this?
This video will hit a million soon. I think this is the best father and son channel on TY - on how the father and son dynamics should be.. This video is crazy. I honestly thought you guys were going to shoot the place up at first. I did not know it was protected / preserved. Are there videos of you guys in gun shooting contests?
My son has never competed in shooting contests, which is unfortunate as he would probably win a lot of trophies. I have a few old video tapes of me competing but those old tapes would have to be converted to digital media. Maybe someday I will get off my butt and have those old tapes converted.
@@mixup98 that would be nice to see those contests. You guys are dead on with your aim. It is funny seeing other peoples YT videos when they keep shooting at the same target and missing & then switch targets thinking they will have better luck on it 😂🤣😂
Awesome video! Brought back memories. My parents would bring me there as a kid in the early 90s to go camping throughout Death Valley. I slept in that cabin a few times. It used be hard to get there. They “cleaned up” the roads, and soon after she burnt down.
I was 8 years old and my family had just returned from the Mississippi gulf coast after riding out hurricane Camile 6 blocks back from the coast in Long Beach, MS. So that's all I remember from that time period. I do remember the Manson murders but only vaguely - probably from the nightly news that my Dad would watch like clockwork every night. Back then, for the young folks here, there was only broadcast TV - so 3 major channels and a couple of UHF channels. Mixup, I have a white album as well - actually my son has it right now along with my entire vinyl collection... mine is actually white though.. I'm only at the point where you just showed us the album.... so we shall see what happens.... for the "Mixup98 Halloween 2024 Special" lol
This was a fun take on camping at Barker. Your description of Charlie is spot on. I camp there when I'm in the area, either on the pad in front of the house or down in the livestock pen. No one was killed by the family at Barker, but three guys sleeping in the small bunkhouse might have been killed if they hadn't heard Charlie and Clem sneaking up on them in the middle of the night. One thing is sure; no family member alive wants to be anywhere near or have anything to do with Barker Ranch. Playing your old White Album was a fantastic idea. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your experience camping at Barker. No bodies were ever found at Barker but there are plenty of rumors that several people were killed there.
Leslie Van Houten is the only surviving Manson Family member who is free. The rest are dead or still doing time. Tex Watson, 77, was ordained aminister but remains in the Joint.
That truck you showed my dad was stationed in San Bernardino CA. He went out to the Death Valley Desert and towed a 1938 Dodge pickup truck much like the one you showed here. He still has it also.
You guys should come to Arizona, and spend the night up at Woods Canyon Lake, aways from the campground. I promise you, you will have a very interesting time. Everytime we have gone up there, we have had strange experiences, and heard things that can't be explained.
Bodie has been on my bucket list for at least 40 years. My son also wants to go there and take photos and maybe we will make plans next spring. Thanks for the reminder.
What a great video! I had so much fun watching it! I was only 4 in 1969 so do not remember the events as they happened but certainly do remember the hype about the book when it was released. I’ve never read it but think I will now.
I read that book when it first came out, and have read it a few times since. Excellent book, and I loved this video. On the record, my mom got it for me for Christmas in 1968. I was 15, and had been a Beatles fan since I saw them on Ed Sullivan in 1964. I wore out that copy, bought another one, and now have it on CD.
I thought it was great! Hope you two get to do more stuff like this in the future. If only those walls could talk. I wonder what was said and what was done in that house.
I found your channel last weekend. I was scrolling around to see if there were any reviews on the new plain jane 10/22 I bought for the low price of only 2 Benjamins. Low and behold you had done a review of the very item ! Being familiar with many other gun youtube channels I quickly subscribed and then binged the majority of your videos. Quality stuff, thanks for the content !
Hello 98Kentuckian and welcome to our channel. We have almost 500 videos on youtube and you have a lot of binging to do 😁 Thank you for the awesome comment and we also thank you for subscribing to our channel. Have a great Sunday!
I grew up in Ridgecrest and @1977, my step dad belonged to a 4-wheel drive CB radio club, and I went, with the club, and visited Barker Ranch. The house was still standaing, with the Manson Family's clothes still draped across the porch and the bus still parked next to the house. We were eventually chased off the property by the hermit who last lived there.
Hey boys, this is quite a take-off from your regular subject matter but it's interesting. I've slept many a night in the scrub, stubble, woods and forest and only spooked once in twelve years. I wish I had had a camera and sound recorder back then, but then again those aren't brought along when you're roughing it. But the night I'm referring to had some bumps, words and sounds you just couldn't put an object or word to. Just me and my girlfriend at the time and believe me we got a little twitchy and jerky when those sounds were close to the tent (at least that's what we thought)! Good to see you guys again. Thumbs up on extending your videos to include the paranormal or the inexplicable.
When I was younger I spent a lot of time outdoors either sleeping under the stars or in a tent and I remember lots of sleepless nights due to strange noises and bumps. But it was always exciting. My son and I enjoyed this trip to Barker Ranch and we just might go back again someday. Thanks for sharing your story and it is always good to hear from you.
I was just a little fella when all this took place. The thing i remember most, was it scared my little Momma to death. I remember her getting blocks of wood and nailing them to the door frames of the house just to twist in place so we could "lock the doors" at night. Back in those days you just never heard of such things happening.. Awesome cool video Brother. Thanks for taking us along. Thumbs-up ~John
Hey guys, this was sooo COOL. Like others have said in the comments, you guys should do this type of show more often . Both of you are great at it, and very sincere in your presentation!
Good morning Kevin. The feedback from my viewers on this video is really important to us and it seems that a large majority of viewers would like to see us to do more videos like this one. My son and I will sit down and discuss our newest adventure and we will get something posted in the future. Thank you for the nice compliment.
I have been a subscriber for quite some time, going back to the old days and old names. This was really a nice change of pace and you've once again shown that you're not just a gun channel. It wasn't "too creepy" and it wasn't corny, it was very interesting, educational and entertaining. It would be nice to know what kind of "tools" you brought across the border into Commiefornia? Probably had to bring black powder revolvers with you, lol. No, I guess it's not that bad..... yet. Seriously, guys, this was a great video and similar type videos would be awesome. Glad the coyotes stayed away. Best wishes. 🙏👍 🤠🤠
I had that same printing of Helter Skelter. I need to reread it. Edit: really enjoyed this one fellas. Nice change of pace and interesting content. Keep it up guys!
This video would’ve been even better with a digital night vision recorder and you guys wearing nods. I get Paul Harrell vibes from your guys channel. Wholesome content, underrated channel, always look forward to new videos!
Very good you guys. Did a lot of stuff with my boy's when they were growing up. Now it's hard to get the time of day with them. Enjoy that time. It goes so fast.
That was very interesting video, Thank you so much. It's hard to imagine the depravity of that person. And to think that is only getting worse. But the beauty of that area is interesting. So rugged and inhospitable but yet so beautiful. That compound would be a wonderful place to live if one lived in peace and harmony. Thanks for sharing this place and a strange little adventure. Oh, and BTW, I remember so well old stamped vinyl records, it was amazing what they accomplished without digital electronics. Now on to listen to that album!
Awesome, I enjoyed it...and those burrows are always fascinating to see when visiting DValley, in the vast inhospitable desert they have been surviving and thriving well.
Thanks for another good video. It's been many years since I've been to the Barker Ranch. I'd be a bit apprehensive about going there, now. Not because of ghosts. But because every gun I own is now illegal in California. One of many reasons I moved out of California many years ago.
Love the wild burros, have a neighbor here in Michigan that has burros, they are fun to watch. Hope you have a safe and wonderful holiday seasons coming up. (:
It's so sad that the ranch burned a few years ago. I used to lead Jeep and Hummer off road events in Death Valley in the early 2000s and Baker Ranch was always a favorite lunch stop. Creepy didn't do it justice.
Crossing into my other favorite genre, outstanding! Gentlemen, I applaud you! Excellent show, guys. The audio may be a surprize! EVPs are very interesting.
This reminds me of family camping trips in late August. Out there you could easily catch the skywave signal, and could listen to many New England AM stations certainly through to the mid Atlantic states. For a kid it was magic. Back then the discourse of talk radio was worth tuning in to. We also could hear the screeching on Radio Havana.😅
Mixup... I have to say that was one heckuva video. I enjoyed it you and your son did a fantastic job. Thank you for sharing that experience. Hope you guys have a great Halloween.
My son and I haven't slept outside under the stars in several decades but we really enjoyed this adventure. We are glad you enjoyed our video and you also have a great and safe Halloween.
I'm a believer in the Paranormal, and I follow some channels here on RUclips such as Paranormal Quest and FrankoTV. I would love it if they came out to this place to investigate it. Thanks for the video!
Great mixup 🤠from your normal content. I really enjoyed it and look forward to your follow-up video letting us know if you got any disembodied voices or sounds on your recorder. Y'all take care and thank you.
You should take a Metal Detector. Charles Manson hung out with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys and I believe stayed a little bit with Dennis. Should have brought an EVP machine Not very expensive. I have used with success. It can be creepy. Love this video. I hope you do more . Hello from Lubbock Texas 😊
Great video I'm of age to remember that.. loved the comet Milky Way pictures. One question.. do you maybe think those wild boroughs may have been reincarnated people of the Manson family? 🤔👻👻👻💀
Love the Beatles!!! Enjoy the history. Curious how much MKULTRA had to do with the Manson family and the murders. Great video as always. Happiness is a warm gun.
This might be my favorite video you guys have done so far. If you go back play some more music on records, something like the doors this is the end, or Jefferson airplane white rabbit. That stuff is supposed to bring ghoulies out at night haha
Cool Halloween Video ! I noticed you guys weren’t wear a side arm, could be because I think you said it was some kind of park property. Not the kind of place I’d like to be without a sidearm. Blessings my friends 🇺🇸
Although we weren't wearing them we did have sidearms close by. You might notice that I had a Mossberg shotgun standing in the corner next to my "bed"......just in case!
Always always always carry a firearm or some kind not only for the snakes and critters, but the spooky s*** might want to carry some garlic and crosses and all that
Never heard of this place, was before my time, but Manson died in my city and it was the talk of the town. Definitely going to research more of this. Seems like a cool place to visit. I won't be dabbling with the spirits though.
I agree. I know I’m never spending the night in the wilderness without my 357 magnum. Oh hell, I’m not even going to allow myself to set foot in Commifornia!
The best father-son duo on the internet.

Out there you could easily catch the skywave signal, and could listen to many New England AM stations certainly through to the mid Atlantic states. For a kid it was magic. Back then the discourse of talk radio was worth tuning in to. We also could hear the screeching on Radio Havana.😅
Interesting but not fascinating! Definitely different! Still one of my favorite channels!
Thanks for your feedback and your continued support!

👍😁
Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, we didn't discover any paranormal or disembodied voices in the audio or video that we took. Maybe next time 😢
You should take a Metal Detector. Charles Manson hung out with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys and I believe stayed a little bit with Dennis. Should have brought an EVP machine
Not very expensive.
What a fun video! The creepiest part was learning Mixup98 owns a Beatles album.
I probably shouldn't tell you that I own a lot of Beatle albums 👍😁
@@mixup98 🤣
Definitely an interesting Halloweenish trip.
Thank you for sharing. Be well.....
Thanks for watching and be well, too.
Very cool! Did you capture any EVPs?
I'm not sure. Watch the right side of the screen starting at 17:50 and decide for yourself.
@mixup98 Electro Voice Phenomenon. Did you capture any voices on the recording?
Theres paranormal related folklore dating back thousands of years from the natives. Haunted? Indeed!
was that one of your shadows from 17:53 to 18:04 by the rocks.
That shadow was definitely creepy. I noticed it after I got home and I think it was caused by my flashlight. We may never know 😟
Love the Beatles!!! Enjoy the history. Curious how much MKULTRA had to do with the Manson family and the murders.
Great video as always. Happiness is a warm gun.
Cool overnight. That space pic was indeed beautiful.
This might be my favorite video you guys have done so far. If you go back play some more music on records, something like the doors this is the end, or Jefferson airplane white rabbit. That stuff is supposed to bring ghoulies out at night haha
We actually talked about White Rabbit on the way to the ranch.😟
This was cool! Read that book as a teen. I was 5 when it all went down. Book is a great read.
Always always always carry a firearm or some kind not only for the snakes and critters, but the spooky s*** might want to carry some garlic and crosses and all that
Awesome show! I bet the 12 gauge buck and slug were not too far away either. :)
You might have noticed a shotgun in the corner next to my bed 👍🤠
Thank you 🎉🎉🎉
Never heard of this place, was before my time, but Manson died in my city and it was the talk of the town. Definitely going to research more of this. Seems like a cool place to visit. I won't be dabbling with the spirits though.
I don't know about spooky. But, it seems pretty scary setting foot in California with all the anti-gun laws that keep piling up out there.
I agree. I know I’m never spending the night in the wilderness without my 357 magnum. Oh hell, I’m not even going to allow myself to set foot in Commifornia!
