I just watched your video and I too watched Toni's review on the AliExpress Tunisian crochet hooks. I quit Tunisian crochet because I didn't want to re-mortgage my house to afford a nice set. I immediately ordered this set and I LOVE IT. Wonderful and affordable. Highly recommend!

The rubber disk is to hold the hook while you are adding the cord. It gives you a better grip and makes tightening the cords easier.

I bought an interchangeable knitting set from Knit Picks about... early 2000's? good grief! it's almost 20? years ago, now! Nickel plated, etc. They didn't have interchangeable crochet hook sets at the time, so I was "forced" to adapt my tunisian projects to knitting ones. Amazon mainly sold books, back then. I had adapted bead knitted patterns to crochet, but didn't have a tunisian hook small enough to work the patterns. And then my baby learned to walk and that was that. "Baby" is now 24, married and out of the house, so I'm picking back up where I left off, thanks to the inspiration from your channel. I may grab a set of these tunisian hooks myself! Thank you!
Well, I have the Lantern Moon and bought them because they looked slicker than bamboo. They still had too much drag, so I wanted metal hooks. The Sewrella metal hooks costs too much and lack a 7mm. I just bought these aliexpress, and can’t wait.

Mine have just arrived today. I got them because of your great review on them, and boy and I glad I did. There was no smell to mine ever ,it only cost me £35 ( English) it came with everything you got as well as a pink cloth to shine the hooks with. Many thanks for the great review. I have this set. If I'm not mistaken, the rubber circle is for gripping the hooks and/or extenders when attaching. It's my story and I am sticking to it.

I own a couple Dyakcraft metal Tunisian hooks, which feel hefty in comparison.
I bought this set after watching the TLYarns review and when I received them, (between the weight and the price), I started suspecting they were plastic!
I'll be weighing mine when I get home from work this evening to see if they match up!
I ordered these back in February I don't have them yet. Anxiously waiting. I did watch Toni's video on these at that time.
Got mine a few days ago and I'm already hooked (pun intended). Shipping took 10 days (8-3 to 8-13). I detected zero smell on mine. I have an ergonomic set, but after I worked with these, I decided to improvise. I ordered a set of hook grips to put on them. I don't do Tunisian crocheting yet, so these hooks will be my dailies. They're so smooth and easy to work with, they sped up my crochet time by at least 50%. So nice to not have to fight to get the end of the hook through the stitches! So glad I found them before I bought the ChiaoGoo! Don'tcha just love a good deal?

I bought this same set of Tunisian hooks from watching TL yarn crafts too! It literally took 3 months to come in! I'm obsessed with it. It's such a great set and the cord is just like Chiaogoo Red lace knitting needles! Fantastic! The cords are probably my favorite part and they spin too!

I've ordered two sets at different times after seeing TL's review and both sets were great. I did only order from the QZLKNIT link TL gave. I wonder if ordering from a different 'store' will make a difference for wait time and other issues.

I really like these reviews and odd finds videos. I'm really curious to see what you have in your collections, like a deducated video series of separate tours of groups of tools that you have outside of what you've shown us here and there in your other vids.
They look nice. I've not done a lot with Tunisian hooks. I've only ever used the ones that were really long with a round chrome tip on the end of them. Have seen some like yours and always wondered why the ends are pointed and what are the cables for? What little bit of Tunisian crochet I've done I wasn't good at it, I kept dropping stitches. I've only made a couple items in the past that actually turned out, other than that it just seemed like this craft wasn't for me. But I've seen some pretty incredible things done in Tunisian...Glad you like them and hope they last you for many enjoyable years. 😊❤

The rubber is to help turn and tighten the cable onto the hook. Some of us need some help with holding pieces together. It also helps to loosen the cable from the hook. Like those rubber things for loosening or tightening jar lids.

I wonder if perhaps doing your first row of Tunisian as a regular sc row might stop the rolling. Hmm. I'll test that theory and get back to you. Perhaps doing a boarder in crochet first.
As to which way they run, it could simply be because whoever was packing them may have just reversed the board. The elastic is layed centrally.
It does, also using a looser tension and a bigger hook stop the curl as well.

Enjoyed your review of the hooks. I’m like you I like metal over some of the other types and styles. Where we differ is the style. I prefer the they style that you are not a fan of.
Ooh, those are nice! I love a nice pointy metal hook and I wonder if the swivelling cords might stop me getting smacked in the face with the end cap. Great you have the scales there very interesting. I have the same set as your lantern moon I did not buy extra hooks. I am not going to buy more hooks as I already have hooks but if I had known I would have got the metal ones.
I saw the video from TL yarns. I kept trying to order but somehow I couldn't do it until yesterday. I can't wait for my hooks! when you initially ordered them how soon did they estimate their release? I hope we don't have to wait 2 months for it.

You got me weighing my hooks! I first bought the cheap aluminium colour coated hooks Tunisian hooks off Etsy.
They are heavy!
Then my hubby made me a set of Tunisian hooks, customised to suit me, with thumb rests at both ends of the hook for the forward and return pass and swivel cord attachment at the end. I got three hooks with each sized dowel, one pointed at the end for Portuguese knitting, one with the cord attachment and one double ended hook.
I have to say, the lightness of the wooden hook alleviates fatigue.
I’m not a fan of the shorter hooks like the one you just reviewed. Mostly due to the small number of stitches you get on the hook. Also, the return pass doesn’t glide as quickly with the shorter hook.
If dowel is hard to find, I reckon it would be possible to repurpose wooden knitting needles for Tunisian by turning the tip into a hook.
I just love Tunisian crochet, it makes the luxurious fabric. I am kind of obsessed with it.
When I make a jumper or cardigan, I can start with a knit rib which easily transitions into loops for Tunisian.
I also want to do a blanket in double ended Tunisian. I love how one colour dominates one side while the other colour dominates the reverse side.
Thanks for the in depth review. I looked into the hiya hiya set of lace hooks and wasn’t sure about the nickel plating. I might revisit them and rethink a purchase.
That's so freaking awesome that your husband made you are custom set!!!
They are the standard TC hook size 6 inches in length. As they come with cords, you can get as many loops on the hook, and as you should know 🧐 as long as the wire. The return pass is smooth but this depends on YOUR TENSION.
The round rubbery circle is to grip and tighten the cords to the hook

I tryed tunesian chrochet, but I have problems with the curling...I have to try more. I had a knit pro system years ago and did not like it, so I moved away from tunesian chrochet, than I found your channel and I bought the alu set from amazone. So I have to try more 😉
Try using thinner yarn or a bit of a bigger hook and loosen up your tension if you are a tight croheter, That will help with the curling, but Tunisian will always curl , adding a border or some sc to any project usually eliminates that curl :)

Im doing an enterlac throw right now and looking into doing Tunisian socks in the round next i have been looking at hooks also
I have two curiosities/questions: (1) how would this affect those with nickel allergies? (2) how do these compare in gram since grams are smaller units of measure and are more precise? Would be interesting to see. :)
I have a small allergy to nickel, nothing like my daughter. She has held these hook as she was confirming that my diabetic eyes hadn’t deceived me 😂 4 of the hooks had arrived chipped or not plated correctly at the tips, the 10 mm hadn’t been fully polished. She went over the hooks with me, her holding each one. Not once did she complain about swelling or itching while holding them. She likes the feel of them. My allergy is usually displayed on my fingers, from rings and stuff. But I have been using the 7mm for 9 days straight and I haven’t had any reaction to them at all. 💯 This would mean that the nickel used to plate them is pure, no other metals in it. 🤷🏽♀️ Of course everyone is different 💯 Unless you know for sure, use your best judgment about buying them 😊 As to weight in grams the 10 mm is 17.01 grams. They are light 🥰💯

I find the swivel cables took the pain from my wrist when doing Tunisian crochet. I still have to be careful not to over do it though because it affects my shoulder.

Lantern Moon are an Asian product, I'm thinking Ali Express would definitely have them for sale. Because of my business I have purchased from Ali Express and Alibaba. I have had no issues.

Wouldn't dare even having them in my hands. Nickel allergies can be ferocious and painful. Guess I'll stick with my aluminum long bodied hooks. Take care of your hands girl! Gotta be able to keep crocheting for years to keep our sanity, right?
Just a thought, has anyone ever purchased any of the Odyssey crochet hooks from furls? I did, got 3 a few years ago. Pd. $100 for 3. I read reviews and many ppl loved them. So I thought it would be nice to splurge just once. My opinion...they snag easily and catch on the yarn, making them harder to use and much slower at making a project because of the snagging and they are really heavy. They are beautiful hooks to look at but not great for use if you want to work up a project quickly. I dont use mine, so for me it was a waste of money. Bum deal for me.
Those hooks you got Corinna look like they are smooth when working with yarn. Like the yarn slides nicely on the hook when working up the project. Yay! Nice...
I own two Odyssey hooks and they function just fine imo. Everyone crochets differently maybe the way YOU crochet was not inline with the hook. 🤷🏽♀️

...and here, I just picked out my favored size of Boye hook from my multiples in my cornucopia [ a Pioneer Woman brand cosmetic bag, bought cheaply on clearance, $3.ish; perfect size for crochet hooks ] , and scratched up the end of it with one of my nail files, so that when I glue a 6' length of heavy duty weed whacker line to it, it'll stick and stay stuck. Then glued a wad of previously snipped of yarn tails - from a stash I use for markers - around the tail end of it, all with E6000 glue. . . .
Cost? One might consider it free, since I had already bought the stuff for other purposes long ago. Oh, and I store all of my yarn crafting implements in a smallish nylon backpack purse with net pockets and divider spaces [ picked from a maintenance man mound of midnight moveout leavings ]. I'm going to eventually have a complete set of my DIY Tunis hooks - all with long tails that I don't have to Interchange, because I don't have to worry it's going to be long enough, in case I change my mind and want to make a king size bedspread midway through my first row. Although, I should probably consider that the smaller hooks probably need shorter tails because of the projects I would be doing with them. Yep. I'm set. And so inexpensively, too!👧😃

Tried to buy these when Toni showcased them, but AliExpress refuses to take any of my US Visa cards (debit/credit) for the payment. Keeping getting the run around to send proof that it is my card and me using it. Such BS since there is 0 Customer Service Assistance that can help with this nonsense. I really wish that AliExpress wasn't the only one selling these. Would love to have them, verses the wooden set that has way too much drag for me.
