So glad you all are enjoying the video! I mentioned Knitter's Pride Mindful cords a few times. They're swivel cords with an extra smooth coating and they work for all Knitter's Pride and KnitPro tools. Take a look at them here - amzn.to/3GuA36q

Hey Toni, congrats on the Tunisian hooks collab! I'm excited to see what you come up with!
    My ideal Tunisian hooks/hooksets are:
    1. Metal with a slight thumb rest and pointy heads
    2. Swivel cords with no tool to attach
    3. Short, medium, long, and extra long cords for bigger blanket projects
    4. Metric and standard US sizing on the handle
    5. Longer handles
    6. All hooks are a metallic color and all the same color in a set (I hate multicolored hooks in a set)
    7. Sizes 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 8, 10+
    8. The case I would like to be zip-up just so I don't lose hooks if the case ever got knocked off the end table/couch or fell out of my bag
    9. Enough room in the case for the cords, stoppers, stitch markers, and scissors

    3. THUMB REST.

I like making shawls and I have Fingering sized yarn, so having at least sizes 3.5 to 12 mm would be great. To just go with big sizes seems unfair for little yarn users like me that are new to Tunisian crochet. Just a thought, her set should be all inclusive, not only for larger hooks sizes…

  • @_maxgray

Congratulations, Toni!! 🎉 My ideal Tunisian set:
-Have the basic set come with the larger sizes and not the smaller ones. Way more people need an 8 mm, 10 mm, and a 12 or 15 mm than will ever need a 3.5mm! This is my pet peeve with most sets - including a ton of sizes people don't need and lacking the sizes we need for anything above a basic worsted, sigh.
-Cords that swivel, don't require a key, and are flexible enough not to whack me without being floppy like the Chiaogoo plastic tubing. Also important for there to be a smooth glide in both directions at the point where the cord and hook meet instead of a "kink"
-I don't get to TC as much as I'd like due to the unpadded straight hooks causing hand pain, so anything you can do for ergonomics - thumb rest, little bit longer length for those of us with bigger hands, anything - would be huge
-I'm sure I'm in the minority on this one, but I actually find bamboo much easier on my hands than metal, so I'd prefer smooth bamboo/wood. Hopefully that might also help keep costs down a little?
-Zippered case with a durable plastic/leather-like finish - I'm always scared my Clover items are going to fall out! Would also love an extra pocket for stitch markers, a little pair of scissors, needle, etc.

@@TLYarnCrafts Thank YOU for making these kinds of videos, because I never understood why certain hooks made my hands hurt until watching a video where you were measuring the length of your hooks! I think my hands are about the same size as yours, and watching you explain why it was uncomfortable to have a short hook hit in certain spots was a lightbulb moment for me. Excited to see whatever you come out with - even if it doesn't 100 percent meet my personal ideals I'm sure it's going to be very thoughtful and well-designed.

OMG Ms. Toni....if your Tunisian Crochet hooks will be anything like your fabulous Happy Place yarn collab with Hobbii...I AM HERE FOR IT!!! Even though I've been crocheting for over 40 years, you introduced me to Tunisian and I am in love. I have a few of the hooks that you also own but my holy grail hands down I would shell out some serious $$ cash for would be some METAL INTERCHANGEABLE hooks. I do prefer a slightly pointier hook head, aka Knitter's pride, but I digress. I typically use sizes 5-10 and I do have a size 7. So would be ecstatic to see one of those in metal. Thank you for another great review.

    • @makesomejoy
      @makesomejoy 11 месяцев назад +3

Totally agree and I would add embossed size and thumb rest. The case should be sturdy but flexible, lots of pockets, and I would say the outside should be in a material that's wipeable and easy to keep clean. One more thought, if at all possible under 100 dollars. If not then under $150 please. Thanks for taking our input Toni!!!!❤❤❤❤❤

One thing to clarify about the Knitters Pride / Knit Pro interchangeables in case it wasn’t clear in the video: you can separately purchase the Knitters Pride Mindful swivel cords that are available within their knitting collection. The cords are coated steel, incredibly light and flexible, non-kinking, and they are inexpensive. All knitters Pride cords are interchangeable across the brand and are available in any length you might need, coming with stoppers included. So good!! Great video as always!!

    Hook suggestion:
1 - Must have a swivel cords …light weight but strong
2 - No took needed for lock or easy secure locking connection for swivel cords. Also make sure the connection spot is smooth- no catching/dragging of yarn
3 - Smooth finish on hook - NO drag
4 - Make the hooks pretty- I love bright colors but a deep wood stain is nice too
5 - DO NOT have any raised embossing on the hook. I love my Clover Amoure Hooks (yes I know they aren’t Tunisian) but they have a raised embossing that irritates my fingers
6 - ChouiGoo has a great case for their sets, pocket for each size (with sizing listed in spot) place for cords and separate spot for notions.
7 - case should zipper around to secure needles & things inside
8 - do multiple sets - mini set (smaller sizes), large set (larger sizes) and full set (small sizes and large sizes) and the Toni set (all your must have sizes )all with cords & a scissors maybe cute Toni only stitch markers
9 - Make the sets affordable!!!!!
10 - Pointy pointy pointy heads!!!!
    11 - thumb rest
12 - larger hook for larger hands
    13 - ergonomic

As my late husband would say, "That's a lot of hooks." I love that there are so many different types of Tunisian crochet hooks. If it were up to me, I would definitely make the hooks at least 8" long. Not just for the women with bigger hands but I find it gives a better range of motion and for those of us who have arthritis in our fingers it isn't as difficult to move the hook. Definitely a thumb rest. Pointy hybrid hook, swivel cords. I agree with everything you said you wanted. Shoot for the stars!

Congratulations, Toni! I'm so happy for you! But my ideal Tunisian crochet set would be made out of either a steel or aluminum. It would include sizes from 2.0 all the way up to a 20. They would have pointy heads because the rounded heads do suck. They would be looooong hooks! So that if I needed to add a cord, I'd add a small cord, but not so much a long cord. It would have a finger rest. More for arthritis. Something comfortable for my hands. The cord would be swivel and a screw in. No keys! Wood stoppers at the end of the cords. The case would be in a hard shell case with velvet lining. Complete with notions and a pair of unicorn scissors. Unicorns are just cool and colorful. I'd have a colorful set, too. Purple, teal, green, and blue. Unicorn colors. Sparkle, too. That would be my ultimate Tunisian crochet set.

Good on you Toni! I've often wondered about some hook designs and even questioned if anyone who actually had vast crochet experience was even consulted. You were the person who reignited my love of Tunisian crochet. Hadn't done it in years and went back to it because of you! My ideal Tunisian hooks would be either a Clover Amour or Tulip Etimo Red style hook (with that smoothness) with pointier heads, super-flexible swivel cords in various lengths that did not require a key and good connectors and stoppers and with absolutely flawless quality in sizes from 4mm to 15mm and a quality case. If that set met all those expectations, I would spring for them regardless of price. Forgot two things, a well-placed thumb rest and all hook sizes must come in sets of two to facilitate cro-hooking/cro-knitting. Am I asking for too much here?

Great reviews! Something I'd point out about the KnitPro hooks is that it was the only brand I could find (at the time I was looking a couple years ago) that makes a 7.0mm tunisian hook, which is super hard to find, and being someone who crochet's on the tighter side having a 7.0mm to use when I need to size up has been great. Sometimes 6.5 wasn't enough and an 8.0 was too much. And I agree with others that sets for tunisian should be larger sizes as standard.

I would love a set which starts at a 4mm and goes up to an 8mm or 10mm - most sets start at a 3mm or 3.5mm - neither of which I use. I also want metal. My favourite knitting needles are the KnitPro Zing, which are the metallic coloured needles with plain silver ends. Also, KnitPro don't seem to do some of the important intermediate sizes such as 5.5mm and 6.5mm - both of which are essential if you use an Aran yarn (4 weight). And needless to say, you need to include the swivel cords as standard! I'm just looking for the turquoise 'Mindfulness' swivel or purple swivel by KnitPro in a 40cm so I can use them on sleeves (I currently only have long swivel cables which I use for kitting jumpers in the round).

Thanks Toni!!! These are some really beautiful sets! Congratulations on your design project collab!!!
Here are some things I'd look for in a Tunisian set:
    - Swivel cord (interchangeable for storage)
    - Gorgeous gorgeous look (I think wood or bamboo is the prettiest but I also like brushed aluminum) with a gorgeous gorgeous carrying case
    - Long hook handle in addition to the cord
    - I used to be a tapered hook girlie...... but now I'm an in-line hook girlie.... :~) And the sharp points look stunning!
    - I haven't noticed whether a lack of thumb rest bothers me when I'm doing Tunisian crochet; most of my Tunisian hooks don't have thumb rests. You'd know better than me!
    - I love having the option to go up to larger hook sizes but I'll advocate for small sizes too; I'm in my lace era

Hooray, Toni, this is excellent news!!!!! For Tunisian, I would want a metal interchangeable set with pretty, coordinated, but a different color for each hook. Or if they are all the same color, rose gold. Same for a regular set just w/o cables. Each set with pointed heads and a case that shows off a particular favorite theme/or fave colors of yours. Really looking fwd to seeing what you come up with. ❤ And I chuckled when you said you were “in cahoots.” That phrase always makes me smile for some reason😀 So cute!

My Tunisian crochet hook set would start at 3.5mm and go up from there. I never use bulky yarn so really large mm hooks would never get used. They would be made from polished birchwood in a beautiful light to medium blue (I loved the blue and gold ones you showed us), be long enough for us big-handed gals, have pointy tips and swivel cords that don’t need tools that don’t kink or have a memory. They would also have beautiful stoppers. If you can throw in some gold in the connections and stoppers that would be a real plus. I’m so happy you are getting recognized for your accomplishments in crochet and Tunisian crochet and will soon have gorgeous hooks to offer the world!

Ahhh this is so exciting!!! My dream hooks would be:
-METAL. I don't care what kind. Any sort of metal is all I could ever want. None of that "plastic for bigger sizes" nonsense.
-The thumbrest sounds like a great idea, and I'd love if it were there, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if it wasn't.
-Nothing smaller than 5mm, and going up as far as you'd like. In a perfect world it would also have that elusive 7mm and maybe 9mm
-Swivel cords, of course. If you can basically just get the Mindful ones, that'd be perfect.
-Hybrid head would be nice. Susan Bates-type inline are Too inline for me; for regular crochet I generally go for tapered Boye-style. But hybrids are nice, even when they lean towards inline. I also think hybrid would make the most amount of people happy rather than going to either extreme. (Dreamz and Ginger heads are fantastic, imo.)
-Pointy, but not TOO pointy. Enough to get under the stitches and all, but not so sharp you're just stabbing yourself and splitting the yarn. Rounded point???
-I mean....if we're talking dreams, it'd be amazing if they were pretty :) but if it hit everything else they could be the plainest hooks in the world and it would be irrelevant
    Also, for regular crochet hooks:
    -Metal
-Once again I think hybrid would please the most people. Like, I want tapered, but I think for a whole set, going down the middle is the best route.
-Ergonomic, soft grip. And not a 10-mile-long shaft before you get to the rubber (or whatever material) like the ergonomic Susan Bates--as a pencil-gripper I just end up holding the thumbrest, and like, I could use a non-ergonomic hook to do the same thing for less money without having to deal with the extreme inline hook that traps my yarn too much, what are we doing here. Think like Clover Amour or Soft Touch, or Tulip, style handles!
-Speaking of Clover.....Clover I love you but oh my god the thing where the bigger sizes are plastic instead of metal. WHY. The squeaking and the drag is so bad with plastic. So: dream hooks would have bigger sizes in metal. One project I have right now uses a 9mm hook and it was PAINFUL to finally find one (1) single metal hook.
Also, I mean, again, if we're talking IDEAL, I'd want to spend a max of around 100 bucks. Much more than that gets hard to justify. At the very least, not the "close to 200" ones.
Also ideal would be if they could be sold separately and not just sets! Even though I'd probably get the set :) I have no real opinions on the cases other than like, not those clear plastic ones, but you hate those anyway so I can't imagine that being a possibility lol. I guess ideal...sturdy-ish and zippered? Maybe an option to upgrade to leather?
Good luck and have fun designing!!!

Yay! I recently restarted my Tunisian crochet adventures, with a Denise set, I got 2 sets of the larger Love2Crochet brights, because I love making hats with double ended tools. I already want to get another, non-plastic set, so I will hold out for yours! The plastic works fine for natural fibers, but if the material is the same as the knitting needle, acrylic yarn will be a literal drag. My dream set of Tunisian hooks will have swivel cords that snap in like the Denise, a comfy thumb rest, pointed but not dangerously sharp heads, and will not be made of plastic. Between metal and wood, I want both, I love the warmth of wood and it is possible these days to get fairly smooth surfaces, but metal tends to be smoother for me in knitting tools. I have tiny hands, so the Denise set is ok in that respect, but slightly longer would probably be nicer even for me. Definitely need longer for normal-handed folks LOL. I have not compared length from throat to chin so I will need ot rely on people who have. Tulip is my favorite brand of standard crochet hooks, but the embossed sizes irritate the skin on my pinky finger. I will be getting out my dremel to smooth those off as soon as I get around to it. Having the letters and numbers sunk into the hook rather than standing proud of the surface is much more comfortable for me.

    Hi Toni, your video leaves waves between crocheters and knitters alike; I am a knitter and hoping for achieving some crocheting skills ( through your helpful and enthusiastic teaching);
Your first and already much awaited collection Tonisian, is already in the waiting basket for me- what I imagine: colorful , quality and smoothness of the hook with a chiaogoo pointed tip, swivel cord, thumb rest, a zipped case .
    Also, checking through the sites recommended, of course the Australian boutique stood out, I am Australian by the way, the colors used by those folks scream Art;
    Maybe is too much to ask if you may endeavour to do some cubic ones also? -I use the cubic Knitpro for knitting and is extremely relaxing for the hands;
With all these said, I enjoy your video and I will start viewing all other in your name!

Color can be whatever bc ur creative. Can’t wait to see what happens

Tony, as you know . . .We love you girl! YOU KNOW we'll be here to support you. 🤩 How exciting! Just let them know that we are capable of breaking Lion Brand, Hobbi can *NOT* keep up with us (still bitter about them being out of stock . . . during Xmas buying season!). So, make sure they make enough for us! I know you are going to come up with something amazing because you ACTUALLY use tunisian crochets. *There is NO ONE better positioned to do this than you!!!!* I am sure most of the hooks in the market are designed by people that never knit. I would love something that is long enough (as you said), with a pointy tip (as you said), with a thumb rest (as you said), in gorgeous colors (as I know you will do!). I don't know who the heck needs a 3.0mm hook? Why not the larger sizes so I can use chunkier yarn, give me a 10, 12, 14 mm!!! (or option to add on for those that do big blankets!) I find myself going into much larger sizes as it really prevents my shoulder from hurting. I would love it if they had swivel cords like the Mindful swivel cords. I think what will make or break will be how smooth and well they glide. Please don't give us a huge heavy stopper at end. There is no need! And, above all, I would LOVE something that has the size somewhere embossed in LARGE print for old ladies with bad eyes like me. Also, I would love a way not to have a key. I hate having to use a key because I lose them all the time. I don't like the Denise system and they cord has come undone a few times. The cherry on top would be if they are compatible with the Mindful Swivel cords. And, cord large enough to knit a nice wide blanket on the bias!!!!! We are talking HUGE. I want a way to join cords perhaps, but not have them come apart. Just a small wish list. LOL ! ! ! A 7mm please! Also, I buy MULTIPLE hooks to leave with multiple projects. Allow me to buy specific singles to add to my kit (I have 5 6.5mm hooks!). The case should have a few extra empty spaces to put my extra duplicate hooks . . . or super chuncky large add on sizes. We are here EAGERLY waiting for you to design the perfect set of hooks. YOU GOT THIS ! ! ! :) 😄😍🤩

Your own set?? So good! My ideal would be swivel cords, no extra tool to attach cords, a pointy head, 5mm up to 12mm. As for material - doesn’t matter as long as it’s slick and doesn’t drag the yarn. All the best with it! 🎉🎉

My suggestions for your brand of Tunisian hooks would be:
just like the Clover Takumi bamboo set except in metal and include bigger sizes & a different style of case. This was the only set you rated 10/10 so if you produced a set exactly like these in metal they would be PERFECT! Maybe make each size a different color of metal and make the hooks about 7” in length. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. I just hope the price is less than $100 so they’re affordable to everyone.

That's a lot of hook sets, and CONGRATS on your collab! I hope to buy your new tunisian hook set once it gets released! I actually got the tulip carry t tunisian crochet hook set for just shy of 85 dollars which is SUCH A STEAL from a seller in Vietnam! I love this set so much because of the swivel cords, and this was the first set that caught my eye when watching Ms. Toni's first Tunisian crochet set reviews.
What an Ideal tunisian crochet hook set should have:
    - Wooden or metal hooks with a hybrid shape (more or less inline)
    - Swivel hooks (they should be a standard by now🥲)
    - larger hook sizes to accommodate for curling and thicker yarns
    - a nice case that is sleek yet fashionable and functional (protects the hooks)
    - some notions such as tapestry needles and a gauge

I'm so excited to hear that you're coming out with your own set of Tunisian crochet hooks Toni! I bought the Clover Takumi set on your recommendation and have fallen in love with Tunisian crochet because of you and your recommendation.
I have been looking for a metal set of Tunisian crochet hooks to complement my Takumis, but haven't found my perfect 10 yet.
    My dream set would:
    1. Be made of metal with similar heads to the Clover hooks, maybe a touch pointier.
    2. Have a Clover style non-key attachment with swivel cables.
    3. Have a thumb rest for comfort.
    4. Have a selection of beautiful colours available, with a preference for either a single colour for the entire set, or different colours for different sized hooks.
    5. A range of sizes including the ever-elusive 7mm hook and larger sizes up to 9, 10 and 12mm.
    6. A nice case that holds all the hooks, cables and stoppers safely, securely and compactly. A pouch for some scissors or a tape measure is a bonus but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't have one.
Whew! I hope that's not too much to ask, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

    2. Clover Amour Hybrid Head (or leaning towards a pointy inline)
    3. Thumb rest
    4. Swivel cords
    5. Addi Click connection! (no tools)
    6. Longer shaft for those of us with larger hands
    7. Metric and US size embossed or engraved (printing can wear off)
    8. Ability to join at both at both ends of the cord (no fixed stopper) so you could crochet in the round (or use with interchangeable knitting needles!)

Elements of the perfect set for me would be: slick metal surface like KP nickel needles, in-line Susan bates head shape with Susan Bates thumb rest, swivel metal cords like lantern moon and a zippered case like Chiao Goo. Hook sizes would be 5mm to 12mm, including 7mm! Thanks so much Toni, keep us updated!

I can hardly wait to see what you come up with. But, since you asked: My ideal Tunisian set would be interchangeable or fixed cords in smaller sizes (my most-used hooks are 3 and 5 mm -- I like working with fingering- and sport-weight yarn), polished aluminum for extra glide, and pointed, tapered heads (like Boye). I like a thumb rest to help orient my hook, and I like super flex, swivel cords -- I think Addi's are my favorite cord. I don't need a fancy case b/c I keep all my hooks in a pencil book with elastic straps. In fact, I think I would ask for them to be open stock, so I didn't get more of the larger sizes that I just don't use. So exciting!

I don´t do Tunisian crochet yet, but I bought your book (and gifted it to the friend who taught me to crochet 🙂) and plan to learn some day. I'm glad I haven't purchased any Tunisian hook sets yet as I will certainly wait till your set debuts. I prefer metal hooks (and needles: I'm more a knitter than a crocheter) and I like hook size info to be unobtrusive but clear on the tool. As for sizes, I work with a lot of fingering and sport weight yarn, so please don't exclude the smaller hook sizes from your set! Good luck, Toni. I am sure whatever you come up with will be a winner!

Dream set is metal, maybe aluminum, something light, with a thumb rest, swivel cords, especially something that's really flexible (maybe something where the different length cords are different colors? That'd be great!), a soft but structured case (like the fabric Mindful cases), and a slightly pointed tip. Oh you know, two sets one from 3.5 to 7mm, and then 8mm-15mm would be really cool. (Like how Clover sells their hooks) so you can have the choice of what you want in size. Plus if people wanted the whole shebang, they could buy both. (Or a secret third option, an "all hooks" specialty set). I think a rose gold or a gold would be nice, or oh a purple would be fantastic!

I really enjoyed the Crochet reviewing. Congratulations on collaboration on upcoming 😃designing Tunisian Crochet Hooks. I would recommend: 1) longer hook handles for large hands ( to prevent hand cramps), 2) material for hooks - bamboo 3) engraved sizes on metal portion of hooks 4) options to purchasing crochet hooks individually or as a set. 4) Large crochet hook for thick yarn with cord to accommodate stitches for a blanket. And cords that will swivel thin in width and easy to attach.

I'm always so surprised how much you love your Clover bamboo set- I hate the way they drag on natural fibers! Dream set: metal with engraved sizing, swivel cords with light stoppers that don't clunk all over, non-swivel screw-on straight ends a-la Furls (drool) for smaller projects, and a container with no zipper, buttons, latches, or anything that has to be manhandled to open again over and over, like maybe a magnetic closure or like a pencil case. You mentioned several suggestions I liked. A set that consists of 4mm-9mm, rose gold plated, a cast that holds more than just the tools; I want to add scissors, markers, ect. For crochet hooks the same thing , I personally would like a handle /body that is easier on the hand for holding due to some arthrirus.

  • @Lodrelhai

Your own Tunisian set! This is so exciting! Please not plastic. I prefer metal, but a smooth wood would be just fine. Colors would be wonderful! (Can you make crochet hooks with bismuth?) And on the longer side please? A case that's easy to clean and closes completely so hooks can't fall out, also colorful. (Honestly, the case for the Sewrella set is beautiful, and it breaks my heart to hear it's difficult to keep clean.) Zippered pocket for stitch markers and small scissors would be great too.
Cords that are lightweight and don't kink, and adapters so they can be chained together. And something I haven't seen before, but I think would be good is a small connecter to let you put the stopper on the hook without a cord. Some patterns don't really need a cord, but having nothing back there makes me worry the loops will slide off if I'm not super careful. I know there are hooks with their own stoppers at the end, but if I can do everything with one set both I and my budget will be happy. Right now I just put my shortest line at the end of my hook, but I'd be happier not having that extra length with a weight at the end flopping around if I don't need it. (Especially as one of my cats thinks I'm waggling a toy.)

Thanks for another great video. I had to giggle, you gave the clover takumi set the only 10/10 rating. I bought 2 sets of these on Amazon for about $45 and I love them. I do agree with you that I wish they went up to a size 12 so I could them with bulkier yarns. These are my go to hooks. I also have the furls cruella hooks, but rarely use them as I broke one & furls had no replacement. They are pretty but can snap in half really easy if you crochet with a lot of tension.

congratulations!! you’re the reason i got into tunisian crochet so the news is wonderful to hear!
    my ideal set:
    - bamboo or coated wood (honestly i’ve never tried a metal tunisian crochet hook but id be interested in a brushed aluminum set too!) ideally a smoother/slicker finish than my clovers; more like a chiao goo, tulip, or knitters pride ginger.
    - personally i don’t like super colorful hooks, i think a natural wood/bamboo look or uniform metal looks more elegant.
    - subtle thumb rests may be a plus for metals but i don’t feel too strongly about this.
    - swivel cord that is flexible and smooth at the connection (i may be the odd one out here but i don’t mind tightening tools)
    - sizes 3.5mm - 12mm+, including 7mm! metric units please
    - longer hooks for comfort (think chiao goo, tulip, clover)
    - pointed hook head (but not sharp like a susan bates inline, i still prefer a bit of a hybrid shape) and enough depth in the neck to hold the yarn with (sometimes i struggle with my clovers)
    - zip case with structure!! and pockets! and a non-plastic-y case (i’m looking at you denise)

Ooooh your own set of tunisian hooks??? Put me on the waitlist! Sign me up!
    My ideal set would be:
    - longer hooks for better grip
    - thumb rest
    - sizing that won't rub off, like laser-etched into the hook or something
    - swivel cords (duh) with a super smooth join so nothing gets caught where the cord joins the hook
    - extra pointy heads! those Radiant hooks with the round hook heads are the WORST.
    - but speaking of the Radiant hooks... the rainbow wood is gorgeous! 10/10 for hook aesthetic, 0/10 for hook functionality
    - A hard-sided case if the hooks are wooden - the soft cases always make me so nervous that I'm going to somehow accidentally snap all of my hooks in half
    - An adapter so you could screw the stopper directly to the hook - when you're just starting or finishing a project and don't want the cord dangling in the way but still want the stopper on the end, it would be great to just screw the stopper straight into the hook! An adapter like that would also mean you could make a double-ended hook for working in the round, without having a cord in the middle.
    - The ability to buy the whole set and also buy single hooks (specifically for working in the round - I prefer 2 of the same size hooks even though I know technically I could use 2 adjacent sizes, but I wouldn't need a whole 2nd set - just a couple of the sizes I use most often).

Great video,Toni. I want luxury. I want the 4 seasons or Ritz Carlton for Tunisian hooks. I want color, I want the pleasure of gliding thru each stitch, I want great chords, I want a beautiful case. Let’s take the beauty of a gorgeous furls hook and then add all the rest. I think we should have a case of hooks that are wooden and metal, and maybe a good acrylic as well- this wooden hook is great when using alpaca, and this metal one works with silk. Why not be eclectic in one kit. The best of the best in one case. Yes, they would b expensive but I bet people will pay up to $250 for something amazing. I would.

I purchased one of those We Crochet Radiant Interchangeable crochet hooks, because I loved the color. When I got it, I was expecting a pointed head, because that is what was in the picture on the website. It was rounded, and when I tried to crochet with it, I gave up in frustration. WeCrochet offered me an exchange and let me keep the beautiful hook, which says a lot positively for the company :)
I purchased of the Lykke interchangeable sets: knitting needles and tunisian hooks. I don't think I will ever have to look for other tools, I love them so much that I've ordered extras in the sizes I use rhe most so I can have two projects going at once :)

Rose Gold metal since I am in love with metal or a lavender if you're feeling spicy. A swivel of course and a few cord connectors to make a giant blanket! I'd adore several options in terms of sizes such as purchasing individual or 8 pieces or 10 or 12 letting us pick the amount right for us and giving us the option would be incredible! A pretty outside protective case with room for notions or matching notions as an added purchase! Seeing Rose Gold stitch markers and darning needles would make my heart so happy! I would ask for something along the line of the Dyak Craft hooks with swivel cords in at least 3 different sizes. I personally do not like a thumb rest on my Tunisian hooks. I do a lot of in the round, so either a set of 2 of each hook with a connector to make a double ended hook, or a set of metal double ended hooks with a more pointed head. The Addi hooks are too rounded. Also, make them beautiful to look at. I have the knit pro gingers and the lantern moon. They are stunning to look at as well use. My Lantern Moon cords as coated metal that swivel. I have no complaints using them. Congrats on this new project for you!🎉

Answering your question about ideal traditional crochet hooks separately here. If you could fuse the length and bigger barrel size of Pryms with the smooth glide and padded handle of Clover Amours, I'd be in heaven. And I think a bigger and bigger proportion of crocheters pay attention to hook ergonomics now, so there's definitely a market willing to pay more for good hooks. (And by more I mean like $100-$200ish for a set, not like $70+ per hook - a lot of us just can't justify that much on one hook, especially if we use multiple sizes!)

I'm SO EXCITED FOR A TONI TUNISIAN SET. i honestly only have one cuz i cannot justify more than that. but i can justify it to myself if it's to support you. You've done so much for me with your videos so I will buy your yarn and your hooks all day.
I feel like I know you will cover a lot of things I care about: flexible cords, longer hooks that fit my big hands, a pointier tip and a smooth hook. I think we have pretty similar taste there. I do like the soft thumb indent you showed on your aluminum hooks, I think that is a good compromise between allowing some ergonomics without widening the hook in a way that will stretch your stitches.
I love love love hook sets where each size is is a different color. This is both beautiful and helps me remember what hook I'm working with (I should probably learn to memorize sizes but like you pointed out, there are so many ways to measure them).
I also have a pie in the sky dream that cord length be customizable. By this I mean I would like it if I could cut the cord to the lengths I need for my usual project sizes and then put the stopper on it securely. Often I only need like an extra 2 inches and it drives me batty that in order to crochet a scarf I have to attach 8 inches of cord that will flop around.
And finally, since I think you prefer working with thicker yarn, I would say I would want it to at least go down to 3.5mm in hook size, but honestly as far as 2.5 would be ideal.
As for traditional crochet hooks, honestly all the same except in that case the ergonomics are more important, and I honestly only have a good plastic set I really like. I know, that's on me! But I love my pryms so if you release one, I'm hoping for metal or wood or oh, maybe resin? I would love a beautiful resin set.
Good luck, I'm super excited for your hooks!

I would love a set of Toni’s Tunisian crochet hooks! You’re the entire reason I found out about and started with Tunisian crochet!! I think for me nice smooth wood, with a rounded pointed needle head would look good. I’ve always loved something with colours in it too. The cord should be sturdy to not break easily and it should be nice and smooth so that your stitches slide right over. Most of all it should scream YOU! ☺️

Toni, I'm so excited for you (and us!) that you're working on your own Tunisian crochet hooks. My preferences for Tunisian crochet hooks based on my experience: #1- Metal #2- I will only use a swivel cord. I like the Chiagoo and the Clover cords for this reason. #3- I like the length of the Clover hook best because it's longer than the Chiagoo hook, but I prefer the Chiagoo tip because it is deeper than the Clover, which makes it easier for me,when doing the return pass in Tunisian. #4- If you plan on offering a set of hooks, I feel that the smallest size offered should be a 5 mm. Since we often go up an few mm in Tunisian, I don't see the point of offering anything smaller than a 5mm hook. Therefore, the set should offer bigger sizes than many of the sets I've seen, using the same logic. I'd like to see a nice case, similar to those I've seen for knitting needles (Addi, Chiagoo, for example). I think sometimes the crochet cases are not given the same attention as the nicer sets of knitting needles (Addi, Chiagoo, for example). Thank you, Toni, for asking for our feedback!

Ideas for your hooks… aluminum, pointy head, rainbow colors, size embossed, include 7mm, 3 mm - 12 mm, no thumb rest, swivel soft cords, pretty case. I’m super odd in that my tension for Tunisian is very loose (I think I’m over compensating but it works for me) so I never need to size up my hook and I often need to size down! A wide range of sizes would be great so I can use lace weight yarn.

I literally gasped when you said you were working on a tunisian crochet hook set!! I would love to see a set that includes bigger sizes, zipper pouch, and exactly like the clover bamboo set. Never tried metal tunisian crochet hooks, but those are my go-to regular crochet hooks.

Brushed aluminum or bamboo, flexible cords, super functional case with pockets for needles and stitch markers, a place for a notepad and pen

If anyone could design the perfect tunisian crochet hook set it would be you.
You're the queen of Tunisian crochet and youre the first person i think of when i think of TC.
    Interchangeable
I'd love to see a thumb rest like the sewrellas with a nice pointy tip to make getting into stitches easier.
I also love using a crochet hook to bind off knitting projects and if it was pointy enough they could be used on a regular knitting as well.
Clear sizing engraved or embossed on the hook or join in mm sizing s a huge want so theyre easily identifiable and it won't rub off.
Id prefer metal hooks (or at least a smooth laminated wood) since there are so many bamboo and wood options out there already.
Swivel cords that are compatible with chiaogoo cords would be ideal for me but i recognize that knitpicks / knitpro is a cheaper option and owned by more people. If both options were available that would be great but maybe not realistic.
I personally hate knitpicks / knitpro joins. No matter how much you tighten them they seem to come loose. And I've broken multiple needles but I've never broken a single chiaogoo and I own both 4 inch bamboos and the metal shorties sets.
If it came in a case I'd love to see sizing on each pocket / loop so you can easily grah and go. I also think having an option for both with or without a case could be a way to keep price down since a lot of people already have existing cases they'd prefer to use. (Like I love chiaogoos but hate their cases because needles / hooks slide out easily and have very little usable storage for notions or cords.)
I think a goodle doc survey would probably be a great way to pull data from large number of crafters ideal tunisian crochet hooks.

I just watched this video and immediately purchased a new set. I started with the knitpro set in the green casing a couple of years ago as I was not sure if this hobby was going to stick with me. Not only do the cables drive me crazy, the size on the needle indeed does rub off and also some coating on the golden plastic ends has come off. So they are really starting to show wear after quite some use. Safe to say this hobby is sticking with me and thanks to this comprehensive review I felt confident enough to pick a new set. I found the Tulip set for 130 euros, which by the looks of it seems to be a steal. It is the old colors as your original set. I cannot wait to start using them.

Toni - I LOVED this overview & have to say that I 100% agree with some of your likes & dislikes! My only suggestion would be clearly the cords as well as a nice head. A set with not as many smaller hooks & more larger sized hooks - AMAZING - and fun, colorful, and sparkly like you would also be amazing! I'm not as crazy about the material as I am about how it slides through the yarn as well as hooks the yarn!
Also -- Getting ready to make Olivia a sweater with some of your yarn, and can't wait to work with it!!

Oh, Tonie! My ideal Tunisian corded hooks would be 6” long, aluminum, with a thumb rest, swivel cable. The cable would have a braided cover - a very flexible cord (kind of like the braided cord on my iPhone charging cable.) The sizes would start at 4.00 mm (for us lace makers) and go up to 12.00 mm. They would be available as a set or as individual size hooks. The case should have a smooth zipper; inside would have braided elastic to hold the individual hooks, pockets that close with zippers to hold snips, extra cables, stoppers, yarn needles, etc.
Whew! Did I miss anything? Oh, and affordable! Dream on…😊

I'd love to see some more metal Tunisian crochet hooks especially with those harder to find sizes. Let them be colorful. Bonus points if you can buy them individually for those sizes you end up using for a lot of different projects or if you missplace the hook

Congrats on the new collab! I love what you said referencing the Susan Bates hooks (Love my Susan Bates) in Tunisian style. Lightweight, multi-colored metal, inline head - not too stabby/not too short, metric measure, thumb rest, cord connections that fit all hooks, swivel cords that need no key to tighten but with ChiaoGoo (Love my ChiaoGoo) flexibility, 6" hook length AT LEAST, sturdy zippered case in a nice waterproof material.

Now I just can't wait for your line of tunisian hooks to come out!!!! The ideal set would go up to 10mm (and also include the really small sizes too), be made a pretty birch like the wecrochet ones or colorful brushed aluminum, have its measurement in mms one each in a material that won't rub off with time, have a thin swivel chord, and have a protective case!

Love love love and cannot wait to see what you come up with! My ideal set would be:
    Lightweight metal
In line hook head with a pointy tip (I’m a Susan Bates gal, cannot for the life of me use Boye hooks)
Swivel Cords similar to ChiaoGoo material
Twist connectors (in a single size that doesn’t need any convertors)
A cute tightening pin that’s sturdier than the Lantern Moon ones
Thumb rest would be a bonus
Hook sizes erring in the larger end (6mm+)
Sizes clearly labeled on each individual hook, maybe lasered on instead of embossed
Nice sturdy case similar to the Lykke case
At least 2 compartments within the case, 1 section for your cords, the other section for notions
The beautiful ~Toni~ color palette in the case and hooks

    Oooh congrats Toni!
Wood hooks, pointy heads, screw on cords I don’t want to play around with keys. Make them pretty! I love dyed woods, or two tones. A nice finish so the yarn glides. Give me a range of sizes, some small, some in between and some for chunky yarns. 8 hooks at least! A cloth case that zips in a TLC colour, like orange and mustard. Or something moody like a navy. Give me a good measuring tape!

I’ve just about driven myself to madness looking for metal Tunisian hooks. I love colorful hooks and a nice case that is firm for protection yet padded for softness. Swivel cords that are flexible and interchangeable are a dream. Also, it’d be great to get a set with ALL the sizes.

Hello! I have been scouring the internet for metal corded Tunisian hooks, so I definitely echo others who are requesting metal for the material - preferably aluminum as I have a severe nickel allergy (and I know that is a common allergy for many other folks out there too)! I'm very excited for you and I very much enjoy your cheerful videos. Thank you!

Peace and blessings. I enjoy your videos! I am 61 and I have been crocheting and knitting since I was 10 years old. I LOVE the hook and the hook head of the Susan Bates hooks and love that same style hook for Tunisian crochet hooks. I thumb rest is ABSOLUTELY critical for me. I personally would like to see regular hooks that are longer in length, like 7 inches...the average length being approximately 5.5 inches. I am sooo excited to see what your hook/Tunisian hooks will look like. Again, thank you for ALL you share and being an inspiration. Wishing you ALL the best!!!!
