my college (WKU) hosted LA Tech for the final home game of the season and the shotclock broke like it did in this game, except with like 12 minutes left. they ended up going with announcements by PA, still similar to what they did here.

It was obvious the shot clock wasn't working I can't believe it took them that long to go to the PA anouncer calling out the remaining seconds of the possession.

It takes less than a minute to review any call. Yes or no. Watch it once in real speed and once in slow mo. Make the call. The reason it takes so long is they need the script writers to approve or disapprove the "drama". That's why every sport "has to go to New York".

The situation with the shot clock isn't something new. But how they handled it was crazy. They could've brought in another set of clocks, and set it by courtside. This solution was implemented during a game with the Raptors when the shot clock was malfunctioning
Something similar happened in the NBL game Cairns Taipans v Sydney Kings. It was halftime and the shot clock completely stopped working. The game resumed after like 30 minutes later without a shot clock and was a close game. There was a buzzer beater three at the end but the officials dissalowed it.
At this point I think Redick could see Lebron decapitate someone 3 feet from him then say something like, "I think that head was already falling off. He was just trying to stop it."
