At one point of my musical journey, I would of been considered an Elitist. I just liked what I liked. But as I've gotten older I've realized there's alot of great music out there, and I want to find it! Thank You for bearing with me on the beginning stages of this channel. Within Temptation have a beautiful duet with Anneke van Giersbergen (role model and THE reason why Floor Jansen basically started singing).
Some might call their song "Somewhere" the best duet in metal.
Within Temptation is one of the bands that helped form the Symphonic Metal genre in the 90s with Nightwish and they've stayed strong throughout it all, though I am not as familiar with Within Temptation in comparison. I've always found their music to be a bit more accessible (this song being an example of very accessible catchy melodies yet still very symphonic metal-y). Sharon's voice is out of this world and this album (The Unforgiving) is S-tier to me. "Iron" is a similarly incredible song from it, but if you want to hear a more toned back ballad-y track, you could try out "Stairway to the Skies"!
Fans since the late 90s, discovered them around the same time then Nightwish.
They often show some interesting dark story in their videos, thats why i also often prefer to watch their official videos often over live performances. "Black Symphony" live is however also fantastic
My favorite videos are "Frozen", "Angels", "And we run ft. XZibit", "Paradise ft.Tarja"

Within Temptation is created at the same time as Nightwish and both together establish the symphonic. While Nightwish uses more classical music, Within Temptation is more pop. They can also be much harder.
Singer Sharon den Adel founded the Dutch band for fun with her partner Robert Westerholt. She had no singing lessons and part-time worked as a fashion designer. In 2000 came the surprising breakthrough with Ice Queen. Sharon takes singing lessons and quits her job. Today Robert only works in the studio and takes care of their three children.

I hope you'll check out more Within Temptation they recently realsed a new single in May clled "Wireless" and are about to realse new one called "Bleed out" ,and if you wanna hear what Sharon (the vocalist) is capable of, you defintly should check out "Our Solemn Hour" "Faster" or "Paradise" with Tarja or if you're looking for something on the softer side they have songs such as "Memories" "Angels" or "Somewhere". Honestly I could recomand you their whole discography out of 7 studio albums it's guranted you'll find somethin you like

It's from a show called 'Liefde voor de Muziek' (Love for Music). It's the Belgium version of the Dutch show 'Beste Zangers' (Best Singers). There she is more then 'damn good'!! 😊😊🙂

Within Temptation was my first experience with Symphonic metal. Sharon learned to sing just by experience. She has this clear beautiful voice, awesome.
Well, this is dance pop - done well, mind you. I like their earlier gothic stuff like Enter and The Promise, but every WT fan seems to have their favorite era, as they change their style every album

Symphonic metal at its best
This is an interesting song to start on. It's one of their most pop-sounding songs, but it's still pretty awesome! Sharon's vocals are amazing (as always) and the band kicks butt!

Sharon has an interesting voice; at the first song we didn't always realize how good her voice is. Within temptation isn't my daily path but it can be very sweet to hear one or two songs sometimes
This is off of their 80s retro rock album The Unforgiving, based off of an accompaning adult graphic series of same name
Lots of fun and Sharon has a lovely voice. I have been reading the comments and they make me interested enough in this band to want to hear more of their more symphonic stuff

Within Temptation did a song that featured Tarja Turunen (original vocalist and founding member of Nightwish). 'Paradise' is a HUGE hit with both these ladies singing! :)

Cool story- Sharon and Tarja had never met until the day of that video shoot. They’ve been besties now for 10 years and perform together live whenever they can!

I also love their The Heart of Everything album"s every singles. So 2004 and 2007 are my WT music basically.

Well done Cosmic, difficult name to pronounce, it's basically "Shinaid" I think? Sharon's voice hypnotizes me, especially when she stares straight into the camera. This band has been around for a similar time as Nightwish, but somehow seems to have stayed "under the radar" It seems if you like Nightwish (who doesn't) you are going to like Within Temptation, Epica, Visions of Atlantis etc.

They stayed in Europe for the most part until one of their bigger songs got featured in a show on the WB over here in the Western Hemisphere in 2007 (or was it 2009?). But they were in 'The Big Three' ever since their incorporation in 1996. They go hand-in-hand along with NW and Epica.
They are incredibly popular in Asia /.Japan if I remember correctly
Within Temptation is releasing a new single, Bleed Out, on Friday. Sinead is a little more on their ‘poppy’ side.

WITHIN TEMPTATION quickly becoming one of my favourite bands alongside NIGHTWISH.
It hasn't been mentioned yet but if you liked that then you got to do AND WE RUN ft EXIBIT just my opinion AN ABSOLUTE BANGER. At first I thought RAP & SYMPHONIC METAL no won't work oh how wrong I was.

My favorite female singer. Her voice is angelical, but she can sound very aggressive too. I do recommend 2 songs. Angels to hear her smooth Voice, and Murder to hear the more aggressive. I do recommend In the Middle of the Night and Iron too

'Angels' is an old song of this band with a very cool music video. It's way less poppy than this one.
Within Temptation is the band that brought me into the Symphonic Metal some 20 years ago. My brother knew I always liked some havier music (like Gun's and Roses or Queensryche at the time) and introduced me to them.
(although they went into rock a bit more later)
They are really good, and allthough Sharon has had a bit of problems with her voice now and then, she can sing for sure!!!
I guess there are already some recomendations for more songs of WT ( 😉 )... but I want to ad at least one;

Great band, great singer, they are another band with more than a twenty year catalog and one their live performances are wonderful. Sharon is also one of the principal songwriters. The song I would recommend for your first exposure to WT. this is from their most pop metal catchy era, faster or in the middle of the night are most representative of their sound off this record. Their second major label release The Silent Force might be the best symphonic metal record ever made that doesn’t say Nightwish on the cover. I’ve been kind of down on their most recent work but it seems they are shifting again to a much darker heavier sound. We shall see
Agree this is a bit "poppy" the whole of "The Unforgiving" album is littered with anthems, Faster is a bit heavier as you say, struggled a bit with "Mother Earth"

Probably the worst song you could have found for WT. although they do an acoustic arrangement of Sinead live that’s really beautiful. They have declined the last few albums, much more pop and light rock in their sound now. Go back a few albums and they were really good symphonic metal.
I enjoyed it, but I will check out more
