Probably her uncle through marriage, so her mother or father’s sister’s husband’s brother.

Cousin marriage is common with the religious culture. In Pakistan its as high as 68% for 1st and 2nd cousins and ither relations. Throughout countries who have this as the majority faith it is common.

She says she’s was married to her uncle’s brother, not his son. Her uncle’s son would be her cousin. Her uncle’s brother would simply be another uncle, or at worst, her own father.

@annacroixx I did write "and other relations". But it just so happens that most related marriages with the religious culture are cousin marriages. There's large amounts of cousin marriages even in the UK community. I think its relevant.

@@Oasis194 Mo is to be emulated within the religion, the 1st generation are considered to be the best. Mo and many of the early leaders practiced cousin marriage. Add to that the motivation to marry within the family as it kept inheritance from “going to another family” in the eyes of practicers. Cousins are Halal, this is why women are to cover in front of their cousins. This is the causation. Go and look at the rates throughout countries that follow the faith.

      Quran 4:34
"Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], *strike them.* But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand."
According to the inerrant word of God, it is a man's right to do so. That is what the noble and peaceful faith says.

To “her uncle’s brother”, she said. That would be an arranged marriage her father or another uncle. Yet not one other person is mentions this in the comments. Someone wrote that cousin marriage is common in their culture, but a cousin would be her uncle’s son, not his brother.

All that matters is someone’s experience. The people saying they went through it have a right to feel however they feel. At this point, after being married, they wish they had a chance to do something different. That’s not a spin, that’s first-hand perspective.

@@chunli99Everyone's experience is first hand, the issue is why certain experiences are cherry-picked by the media over others. If this gathering, which to be fare, seemed pretty benign and positive, had taken place in a white working-class community, the BBC would've given it a different tonal rendering. Sinister music would by playing over the top of the visuals.
