She did it guys. Called to the Bar in October 2018.
Brilliant! Good on her!
Lalita A is she single still?
Well done laila
This honestly is so inspiring. I'm a first year law student at Warwick from a deprived area and this has reminded me why I'm so passionate about getting the best education I can. Education is a weapon and I'm so glad she is out there fighting to get to where she wants to be. Law is still a very white, male orientated and sometimes elitist profession, but girls like Leila can change that - and maybe one day, I can too. Good luck Leila, I'm rooting for you!
Natalie Louise
Has that "one day" came yet? :) btw I'm hoping you've done incredibly good on your journey.
Law isn't male orientated. Absolute bollocks. Most law students are women
There needs to be more minorities and women in law!
@@naomiesther9861 That's actually true, I've heard that as well. There are plenty of female solicitors, there are less female barristers. That's because it is incredibly difficult to become a barrister and a lot of sacrifices need to be made. Some women can do it, but it means they won't have a lot of time for children.
Wow, law is ‘white’ in the United Kingdom. How peculiar!!!!!!
I legit read it as barista 😂
Zoe me too I got so confused at first
me too
I always get the two confused.
Zoe Barista does Latte and Barrister does Law!
Well nothing is set in stone. Come back and check with her in a few years time, you may be correct yet.
Wow! From the first few seconds of this video, there were nothing, absolutely NOTHING that I thought would stop you to enroll and become a barrister (long way to go but you've got it girl). You are defined, focused and very much mindlessly independent (middle ages queen's strength) . There is something strong and powerful within you, at such a young age. I wish you to be none of the less as you are now but never over your head. I only wish my little girl behold such a confidence and drive. Wish you all the best! I hope you'd become one of the finest in the field. You definitely have it!
Best of luck Laila ❤ your an inspiration
I relate so much I'm currently a law student at university of Birmingham from Wolverhampton
i remember being in that video!! good times! i can't believe it took me so long to find this though!! wonder how she's doing...? ❤️

My home town. Thanks for upload.
See you at the top sis 👩🏾⚖️👩🏻⚖️
What an outstanding attitude Leila has. This should get her far no matter what happens, and would certainly make her a great lawyer.
So inspiring, well done to her !!!!
Weldone Leila keep up the great work a real inspiration best wishes in achieving your goals it's time to break the glass ceiling
Amazing. In stark contrast to the other short BBC doc on working class britain.
It really does make me think there are two types of working class. The feral working class and the respectable. Respectable doesn't necessarily mean aspirational. Feral on the other hand, this is the segment of society which is truly different to the rest of us.
Very Best of luck cousin, ur an inspiration ( - :
Well said. Best of luck to her.
Your cousin is buff
GOOD LUCK GIRL!!
so she is not barrister but aspiring to be one. click bait much ? either way its an informative video through her journey thanks.

Good luck Leila!

Go on girl! X
Good luck hope u achieve it goals pal x
Good luck to you and follow Kakoly Pande's story. Would be an inspiration to you am sure.
Good Luck Leila, very inspiring.
Honestly, in this day and age, ethnicity, background and social status don't really mean much, statistical data is very inaccurate and there are so many other factors to consider, in some instances. yes, the sole factor that an institution uses to select between 2 candidates is race or social status. and this nepotism is disgusting, but in reality life is not fair in itself and the sooner we accept this the sooner we can achieve our true potential.
Honestly, not much money in defending the poor as a lawyer. She will realise this very soon.
The first algerian in bradford! Blimey
There are many Algerians in Bradford
Wow local girl became a barrister..good on you
Salut
Gina Miller is an inspiration so is Amal Clooney for strong lawyers in fact women do well in the legal profession
Please tell me who has an easy ride to become a barrister. 😎
clickbait title!! DOWN WITH THE BBC....good luck to her though
Working class barrister is an oxymoron. Barrister is classed as a profession. Rather different from working on the shop floor or at a call centre.
You're working class if you need to work, if without a salary you wouldn't be able to keep a roof over your head or cater to your other basic needs - which is most of us. It has nothing to do with education level, whether or not those two things are (sadly) strongly linked in the UK.
Click bait.
She's beautiful
Could one say BRADFORDS BOUNCING BACK?
In yer dreams!!!
its rought bad area dangerous
WELL DONE TO WOMEN QC S 🌷🔊🇦🇺📞IN A MANS WORLD 🌐
babe
BD9 side
Not surprised there's not that many "working class" Barristers. 14 grand is a years wage for some people! Fuck this world
dbsill cockney you can get scholarships and loans thankfully
Well, I am looking for jobs and some jobs are only 15,000. The highest Customer Service jobs are 20,000 on average. You have to learn how to save money and invest the money you have saved.
House prices are crazy!
I came here to see a video about a barista, im disappointed.
Best go to Starbucks mate
BD4 gang innit
Fuck that BD3 shit
Law should not have any entitlement BS - in US is much more open. Problem with UK is the BS history of monarchs and class. Practicing law should be purely be about technical knowledge of the law and that is all. It will change. Besides, there are far more lucrative career choices in finance, investment, medicine, real estate etc
Must admit, I'm from Bradford and I hate the accent
A Barrister from bratfud? HA HA!!!..... Yeah right, in her dreams!!!!
kazam Shah why ever not? I'm sure she would be great
Its impossible to take anything seriously in Bradford these days, hence the laughter!! The departments are totally corrupt as hell, council, education, police, etc. Even the local paper is a total joke!!! The city started to suffer once third world `citizens` began to take it over.
Lulabelle BT She doesn’t seem very eloquent. I know I’m judging and I shouldn’t, but it’s hard to ignore
@@kazamshah4543 I wouldn't say the police is corrupt! There is a shortage of Police Officers in the UK. China is more corrupt than the UK, but they are harsh on tackling drug crime. Most crime here is related to drug crime.
Is she Pakistani?
Will Scarlett She's half Algerian and half English
Aneesah big up dz and that braaap braaap
How the fuck do you break out of anything in bradford?
No she is Mediterranean of Algerian origin.
What a click bait title . She’s not a Barrister and hasn’t even finished law school ! She would prob make a good solicitor rather than a barrister. That being said I wish her all the luck !
she has a law degree so wrong
Jason Rhodes
Although I am not a fan of the sentiment of the initial comment, he is correct. Doing a law degree does not mean you’re a barrister. You need to do an extra qualification called the BPTC which at the time of filming Leila had not completed, and also have a 1 year pupillage at a barristers chambers, which I’m not sure in regards to Leila’s career progression. I really wish Leila the best - she is an example of what the law needs.
@@atomicelk2307 no he said she hasn't finished law school. if she has a degree then she has finished law school, that's what I'm saying. then obviously needs to complete her LPC etc now
Very best of luck. I think some allocution classes would be a first step. Very best of luck🙏
Are you joking? If that's what you think then you've completely missed the point of the video. And it's 'elocution', by the way.
Some dead accent
Get rid of your accent.😊👩🏻💼
I am from West Yorkshire and of Chinese descent. Fully agree! I speak RP English now.
@@detectivethinker3637That's so funny. 😂😂😂
