As good as Rypien was in 91 he was just as awful in 92. It took Redskins fans 25 years to forgive him for holding out in the preseason like he was Joe Montana. It threw his entire trajectory as a quarterback off kilter thereafter. Dumb move and he really should have known better.
You are so right. It threw the whole team off. They should have been 12-4 and could have given the Cowboys a run. Cowboys still win but it could have been tighter and a classic fight for the division.
@@shanetrimble9265 Yeah dude, it was unwise and he never recovered from it. With all the injuries that year 12-4 might be pushing it but at least 11-5 or 10-6. He was unbelievably bad.
@@MaximusWolfe Yeah how dare he hold out after signing a ONE YEAR CONTRACT, WINNING THE SUPER BOWL & MVP. Maybe the front office should have made getting him into camp a priority. Oh let's ignore the fact that everyone else on the team was older & the all the injuries they had.
@@cbod14 Yes, it was a stupid move by him. He held out the year before as well. Mark Rypien was getting paid more than enough money for his skill level. He might’ve won a Super Bowl, but it was the first truly good year he’d ever had in the NFL. Of course the injures hurt the team but he was abysmal. His accuracy and timing went missing and those are all typical byproducts of playing the Prima Donna during camp. This was not Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, or Steve Young. This was Mark Rypien. And why does winning a Super Bowl entitle you to a pay raise? He should have paid the Washington Redskins organization money out of his salary for providing him with an offensive line that nearly set a record for fewest sacks allowed in 91. The man was barely touched the entire season. The bonus he received for winning the Super Bowl should’ve been enough in my opinion. Had he performed well in 92 I’m sure Jack Kent Cooke would’ve rewarded him handsomely. Instead he played well below his rookie year level. All in all it was a foolish and costly decision that ended up lowering his value exponentially.
@@MaximusWolfe Read that collection of nonsense you wrote. "Since when does winning The Super Bowl entitle you to a pay raise?" Man sit your ass down & shut up. I hope you never ask your boss for a raise.

@@jamiejohnson4524Your Old School NFL Games From After I Was Born in 1991 To When I Started Watching Football in 1995 is Amazing!
The first three games of this season showed that it would a vastly different season for Washington than 1991.
I appreciate all the 90s games you’ve been uploading recently. If you have any games from 1997, 1998, or 1999, I’d appreciate that.
I have mostly 1997 with a few 1998 and 1999 games mixed in.
APPRECIATE this upload!!! Do you have 1990 Saints at Redskins?
I do. But NFL bots block it.
Redskins did a good job against Barry Sanders in this game.
1:41:32 very nice
