      @@Chrispitchwildlife Hi Chris, No, I don't mind being called "Musique" at all, I don't sign into RUclips with my name because of some crazy flack years ago.. I'm happy with any name 🤣... I'm actually British but live some of the time not so far from you in Vietnam. Mon plaisir Monsieur. J'apprécie vraiment vos photographies et vos sujets. 🙂

    Very nice - I had no luck finding awesome subjects on my last visit like you have here - but this gives me hope for next time! I have not tried going into the mangroves though - ill give it a shot next time!

      Thank you very much for the comment BMad!
      Do not go to the mangrove. It is 40° celsius, no wind. I can survive for 3 hours with an apple because I am used to it. But bring some water and some towels to dry your forehead. At least 2!
      You don't really want to lay down in the mud there sadly. Although you could.
      And check on Google about the mangrove snakes before you go ha. 😁 However they are big and half yellow, so you should see them before an accident happen.
      And bring someone, not only to help you find subjects, but for safety.
      During this video I saw a guy with a very long machete. I actually saw him only when he was at 6 meters from me. I should have photographed him.... !
      This one was friendly.
      All that said. I saw some strange flying insects there that I could not capture. It's a cool place for uncommon subjects. 🧐
      Good luck! 😆

      Take someone who lives in the mangrove with you. He will help with finding stuff and locate mangrove snakes.
      Personally I try to be ready for 6am, but the evening is fine too. If you don't mind the heat, anytime of the day or night is good for macro I guess.
      In Europe I would say, definitely early morning when insects are cold.

    Neat pics. Is humidity a problem there in Palawan? Do you use a dry box?

    • @Chrispitchwildlife
      @Chrispitchwildlife  5 месяцев назад

      Thank's Gold! 😀
      2 years in Palawan taking pictures so far, and everything seems ok.
      When I don't use my cameras and lenses, they are either in my room with Aircon, or on one of my cheap normal bags, with several of those little sachet absorbing humidity.
      I admit sometimes the front of my lens get foggy when I approach closer to a leaf in the morning.
      It's something you get used to check.
      Cheers! 😀✌️

    Another excellent video. Do you know if the 65mm gives sharper pictures then the 85mm from laowa?

    • @Chrispitchwildlife
      @Chrispitchwildlife  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much Dennis! 😀
      All I know is that the 65 is made for APSC. that's why it may be a bit smaller than some other Laowa lenses.
      And I never heard any RUclipsrs saying bad things about the sharpness of any Laowa... But I never looked for that 85 in particular.
      I am more looking for something 25 right now.
      Maybe Laowa or the Fuji 30mm macro, so I could have a lens for street with AF, capable of doing macro. That could be cool!
      I speak too much ok... 😁
      Sorry I can not help much more on this one.

    • @musiqueetmontagne
      @musiqueetmontagne 5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, I have heard that the 85mm f5.6 Laowa is very sharp but slightly softer in the corners than the 100mm, new 95mm and full frame 65mm, but you would hardly notice. I will buy this lens too as it is so small and renders very well. I don't know about the comparisons with the Laowa APSC lenses I'm afraid. If you're full frame and want the very best image quality go with the new mirrorless mount 95mm or 65mm, the 95 being a bit sharper of the two. They are larger aperture lenses so heavier but in everyday shooting at 1:1 or 2:1, I don't think you would see the difference easily. I hope that helps.

    • @dennismwallentin296
      @dennismwallentin296 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@musiqueetmontagne Thank you for the clarification. It makes sense that it is about corner sharpness. Centerwise we should expect racer sharpness. Weight is an aspect that is important to me and that's why 90 and 100 mm are disqualified.

      @@dennismwallentin296 It's a pleasure Dennis. Look up Richard Wong on RUclips, he's Hong Kong based I believe and knows the lens designers at Laowa but has really straight forward honest reviews of those lenses, the good and the bad. He does a comparison test between the the 85 f5.6 and the 100mm 2.8. The new mirrorless 90mm 2.8 is the same optically as the 100, slightly sharper and the 65mm full frame mirrorless is slightly softer in the corners than the 90mm but is nearly as big and heavy as the 90mm. So for best optical quality 90mm mirrorless and best all round but light the 85 5.6. Of course it's not so good at portraits etc starting at 5.6 but I will use it purely for macro and stacking. Have a look at Richard Wong's channel, that will give you all the info you require. I shoot Nikon so have their 105 F2.8 MC. It's brilliant right across the frame but is large and only goes to 1:1. It doubles as a fantastic portrait and landscape prime, has VR (image stabilization) that works with the Nikon IBIS too, so I will keep it and go for the Laowa 85 5.6 / 1:2 to keep in my bag plus their 25mm f2.8 that goes from 1:2.5 to 1:5 magnification. Both are totally manual, focus and aperture setting and not weather-sealed but the price is very good for Image quality, just keep them covered in really wet weather.
