  • Today we dyno test Sharon's CTS-V. Ever since we did the Fore fuel system we knew we would have to go back on the dyno to re-do the timing curve and re-tune to make sure we werent leaving any power on the table. Turns out we were. While we are here we might as well do some back to back testing with the new Gen3 Kong Billet supercharger lid.

    Thank you for the content and continued inspiration to build this platform from the most expensive race car parts ever seen. ❤

      You ain’t kidding! lol Thank you for that it means a lot. We do this for the fun of it and the experiences which is what makes it all worth it.

    It only appears to cool better because of the better orientation and location of the iat2 sensor on the gen3 lid. Its right up against the brick. Of course it's gonna read colder as compared to how far away the oem lid sensor location is. On an LS9 this lid drops boost because it increase plenum volume. What where the boost figures on this test?

    • @valkyreeracing4131
      @valkyreeracing4131  3 месяца назад +1

      So I may be a little stupid but on the zl1 lid the iat2 sensor was on the side of the lid, in the air over the intake runner On the Kong lid it is also on the side of the lid, in the air over the intake runner. Is that not what we are trying to see? The temperature of air that is going into the runner? If it’s reading cooler because of the position of the brick doesn’t that in turn mean that the position of the brick is in a more efficient place for cooling the air going into the cylinder?
      As for boost figures it was around 16.5 lbs of boost max. Which was about where it was at with the zl1.

    That’s what widebands are for , and injector duty cycle logs , that’ll tel you off the rip if your going lean and having “ fueling” issues

      @valkyreeracing4131  6 месяцев назад

      There is a wideband on the car and we log that and duty cycle, fuel pressure, afr wideband and both narrow bands. The combination is happiest between .82 and .85 lambda. There are safeties set up in the tune that if it goes lean it will kill timing and eventually shut the car down. When we were seeing weird fueling we were seeing spikes to .87 to .89 lambda. But only short spikes that were immediately ironed out with the tune safeties. When we noticed the alternator issue it spiked to .92 lambda and thats when we stopped and started looking. The injector duty cycle was never in an unsafe area. At max effort duty cycle is about 78 percent so there was plenty of injector to cover the problem.

      Gotcha that makes sense from this point of view now . The way you worded it I the video made me assume there was no logging of afr/lambda and experience of duty cycle reading lacked . Assuming it’s on ethanol with those numbers you just said ? Maybe I missed it in the video . None the less I’m looking up to this as inspiration to maybe make this kind of power out of a 1.9L

      But what safety is there if it goes lean , removes timing and kills timing if it’s a stock ecu , there’s safeties for iat , ect, but stock Ecu has narrow bands and only works idle and cruise wot it’s in open loop

      Very impressive numbers being it’s on 16-17 psi, even if it’s a 2650 . But dam that’s crazy out of a 1.9

      @valkyreeracing4131 whats your opinion on a 11:5 compression motor with a kong 2650 on ethonol. 700 whp goal. Too much compression?

    • @valkyreeracing4131
      @valkyreeracing4131  6 месяцев назад

      Honestly whatever your tuner recommends is what I’d go with. 700 whp is attainable with a Kong ported lsa blower. The 2650 works best when paired with a bigger displacement engine from what I’ve heard. I don’t have any experience with that though.

    So it was going lean and y’all didn’t know it?
    That’s scary as a consumer , listening to this and contemplating taking a vehicle for tuning makes me scared . That’s how stuff blows up on the bottom end. . The number seem kind of high , but post MPH slips and that’ll tell the tale !
    Not trying to bash by anymeans , creative criticism is all

      Its all part of the risk in modifying and tuning a car. Thats why you leave it in the hands of competent tuner that will catch it quickly and address it.
