Kennan, can you be more specific about what products to use to clean your engine? Like can you use a power washer?? Also, what are areas that are high risk for accidents? Tracks??
Fender wells. Wheel drum. Door, hood, and trunk/hatch jams. And of course under the hood. Washing, vacuuming, cleaning windows and upholstery is common sense.
Kennan, the car you want is a dirt-cheap vehicle just for your commute, thus saving needless wear on your BMW (or worrying about it getting up to temperature). Even a Nissan Leaf would be a good buy. Yes, it's a garbage car, but not if you're only using it for a short, daily commute in traffic. (And you'll appreciate an automatic in this instance.)
It’s amazing how few people clean the engine bay before selling - or even loaning to Doug for a review! It’s hilarious how many times he reviews a car, pops the hood, and there are leaves and other debris in the engine bay. I mean, you don’t need to do a full detailing, but at least clean debris out and give a wipe-down with a wet rag!
Great job Kennan. Thumbs up. Thank you for keying on seller honesty. I'm glad I bought on Cars & Bids, but I bought from the wrong seller--an unscrupulous dealer. I was a victim of the lack of honesty from a seller. I asked about an obvious dent on the driver's side door. The seller answered that "it looks like somebody hit it with their butt." I wound up buying the 4Runner and upon delivery, I found a very obvious bent and rusted B pillar. When I contacted the seller, I was told that nothing about any accidents was on the Carfax. What a loser. If I could see the rusted & bent B pillar, so could a car dealer. Conveniently, the photos taken by the seller just barely excluded this part of the vehicle. What a rat. I also found after purchasing the vehicle that there was about 1/4 of a broken rear window in the hollow of the rear hatch of the 4Runner. The vehicle had been hit from behind and not reported to Carfax. I found the broken glass in the hollow of the rear hatch because each time I closed the hatch I could hear something jostling around inside the hatch. And to make matters worse, the plastic vapor barrier which keeps the mechanism of the rear hatch dry, was removed and nowhere to be found. Another clue the truck had been hit from the rear. Please be careful when buying.
Not all accidents or services are reported to CarFax, it should never be used solely as 100% credible history for a car. Also, Cars&Bids is just a marketplace, a handshake if you will. They haven’t seen 99% of the cars on their site, bids are not legally binding, and you should do due diligence and get a PPI when buying a car sight unseen. I’m sorry for your bad experience
@@Bzt3819 Thanks. I wasn't blaming Cars & Bids in my post. I knew the risks going in. Unfortunately, Cars & Bids is still allowing the same dealer to sell. I wanted to post to help someone by relaying my experience. Best wishes.
5 ways to sell your car for more money, step 1: wash your car, step 2: wash your car, step 3 wash your car, step 4: wash your car. Step 5 take pictures. Step 1 to being an adult, wash you car, step 2, wash your butthole
15:10 -- Yep, happened to me. Was going to sell to a friend, but taking for a last drive resulted in damage in a parking lot. It was rough, and I wound up finding an alternative buyer who wanted to handle bodywork. I cannot emphasize enough what Kennan said.
As a German i'm jealous how easily you can find Dodge Vipers (Any Gen) in the USA. Over here in Germany, well in all of the 44 European Countries you're lucky to find maybe 4-5 Vipers of any kind for Sale on the biggest Online Car Market Website over here. Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
The problem with Cars&Bids is they decide what the reserve price on your car is so I'm going with eBay auctions for selling my 1986 Porsche 928S manual transmission.
A detailed engine bay masks oil leaks, extreme grease & grime, etc. that may have been there before the cleaning, eliminating any insight you may have had into how the owner cared for the car or any potential issues that may have otherwise been obvious. I much prefer cars where the owner was simply wiping down the top of the engine, with the rest of the engine bay in its natural condition that I can compare against the age & mileage of the car.
Kennan is the type of guy to give you great details on how to make your car look its best, while sitting in the complete and utter dogsh!t lighting and sound dumpster that is Cars & Bid's underground office. How make everything look and sound its absolute worst, with high glare, blown-out lighting and dark patches at the same time.
So Doug and now you have said not to drive the car during and auction. Yet you do videos driving cars that are being auctioned live. What precautions do you take when doing that?
How about you address the Cars&Bids moderators REMOVING relevant comments because they will affect the outcome of the auction and therefore the company bottom line.
Perfect timing! I am preparing an enthusiast vehicle for sale, a 2013 Dodge Dart. These badboys are known for providing a similar driving experience to the Hellcat or Viper; visceral, raw, life-threatening adrenaline (mostly because because it needs an alignment every 40 miles). MOPAR all day baby🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🫡🫡 Imma sneak it onto C&Bs no reserve and break the record for lowest bid😤😤
Hi Kennan, I live in Switzerland, can I bid on Cars & Bids? If I win an auction, do I have the chance to be helped by someone for transportation and bureaucracy between the USA and Switzerland? I really appreciate your website and your work, as well as the videos you make! Greetings from Switzerland
Kennan is the kind of guy to give us a POV demonstration of how to wipe down a car.
Video should be called, "wash your car before you contact us"

Tip #6: Sell on CARS AND BIDS!!!
Before watching: One of them will be Cars and Bids
0:10 : One of them is Cars and Bids
Kenzoil is getting so much better on camera
Comparing this vid to his first couple car reviews is night and day. Glad he stuck with it, even with everyone giving him a hard time.

Your comment also reminded me that I’ve seen 3 separate cars burn to the ground because of leaves and debris catching fire in the engine bay
Nothing will ever top the Pontiac Solstice he reviewed that looked like it hadn't been washed in a year
@@devinshelly That was the exact vehicle/review I was thinking of - I've seen barn finds that were cleaner than that Solstice!
Fantastic video Kennan. Well done! 👏🏻

I thought this was going to be about how to sell you your car for more money ...than you BOUGHT it for. Still a good video, though.
It always drives me crazy when I’m looking at interior pictures of a car online and the seller didn’t take all of their junk out of the car!
Love to see more vids from/with Kennan, perhaps one more to explain what to expect/do when the seller lists that there's a loan on the vehicle?
Kennan is the kind of guy to sell his car $112K but can't afford socks.
Nothing about going with no reserve?
You're trying way too hard to talk with your hands. Chill bro

Good job, Kennan. Straight to the point, expanding on topic only where necessary.
I hate that cars have become purely speculative commodities. Takes a lot of the fun out of it
