I like that Kennan and Doug disagree on things and back their opinions (same with Hoovie and Doug). Alanis seems overly agreeable but I still like these new videos Doug is putting out regardless!
The “random rainstorms” really only occur in the summer in Florida. It would be quite easy to use the cross blade in the winter months (which is honestly the only real time you’d want to drive a car without AC anyway).
The elise is two clams, front and rear. Doors are separate pieces. If someone keys you you can just repaint. Cracks can be repaired by fiberglass repair places. Clam removal is annoying but you typically just try and save up and do multiple projects while it’s off. I love mine.
all X-Runners were 6 speed manuals, and there was also a first gen tacoma version called the S-Runner. some ppl used them to drift too. you really need to review any 6-Speed manual tacoma, Xrunner or 4x4... theyre extremely underrated.
Did you hear what Doug said? He'd love to review one, because the X-Runner is so weird, but unmodified ones are basically unicorns, and he won't review heavily modified vehicles.. Few people buy a factory-slammed 6-speed RWD "street truck" just so they can keep it bone stock.
When I lived in FL, I could set my watch on the afternoon thundershowers. As I was daily commuting on a motorcycle, I felt like an amateur meteorologist with how obsessively I would watch the weather. I'd say the Smart Cross wouldn't be too bad as long as you had covered parking & a garage!
Regarding the green Evora: there are two types of sports-car buyers -- (1) those who want to show off more (and may be even more into showing off than into driving), and (2) those who want to enjoy driving but want to fly "under the radar" as much as possible. On Porsche forums, many of us Porsche owners discuss how we want to be able to go places and park and try not to stand out too much; there are haters out there who'll "key" car paint and do other bad things to your car, sadly. I'm one of those Porsche drivers who loves driving but really hates showing off and likes to be low key with metallic gray and dark-blue paints, for example, and many Porsche owners including myself even have them debadged (or badges painted same color as car paint or painted black) in the factory.
I think it was the Raptor that got every manufacturer doing off-road high performance trucks. Up until then performance pick ups were basically all RWD with the biggest engine (except the Syclone). So that X-Runner fit in perfectly with the other performance trucks of the time
I’d like to preface that I really enjoy and appreciate these videos, particularly with the ones with today’s friend. She’s sharp and has some wit. That being said… I wish she would refrain from repeating Doug’s last few words… every minute and a half. A few times sure… but it does get a tad tiring. I still like her though. Great car choices. Thanks for the video.
The 30AE is the Miata to get...until Mazda starts offering the GT and B/R/R packages as a single option. Right now you can get the GT package, or the Club package with Brembos, Recaros, and BBS wheels, but not both
I know these are supposed to be recent auctions but my favorite of all time on any site was the silver on imola red lifted BMW X5 on Fifteen52 wheels and A/T tires. It looked beefy and we'll maintained and I hope whoever won it loves that thing cause it was fresh af
I was smiling and laughing the whole time I was watching this!! This was such a FUN video to watch!! Thanks for sharing. Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.
Oh gosh, I can certainly agree about people getting a Lotus in boring colors. I would have loved to get an Emira in purple (which was available for the Evora at one point), but the only color that really appeals to me is yellow. If it's any consolation, I opted out of the black pack. 8)
Living in Texas, I never saw an X-Runner until moving to Hawaii and I've seen several here in a few months. Thought I was just looking at a lowered Tacoma until I saw the badging.
I think they have forgotten. There was a time every pickup maker had a "performance" street version. F150 Lightning, Chevy made SS versions of their pickups, Dodge had V8 Dakotas with Shelby stripes. "Sport" trucks were everywhere.
As a big Toyota guy, I've got some things to say about the X-Runner. First off, all X-Runners came with the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6, an Aisin 6-speed manual, and a limited slip differential. Second, dealerships offered to install a TRD-brand supercharger made by Magnuson that was warrantied and increased horsepower to 300. And third, during the X-Runner's entire existence, it was the quickest and fastest vehicle in Toyota's lineup. EDIT: Darn it, they mentioned almost everything I said >:( 2nd Edit: I see them around a bit where I live, my neighbor used to own one.
21:23 I got a Spanish friend and we saw a Mitsubishi Pajero and she started laughing. And I'm like "why you're laughing" and she: "Pajero in Spanish means Wanker" Just so you know now, too
I love touching on the XRunner. Always thought they were such a cool truck. There's a guy locally here in Colorado that has a boosted one making 500+ whp.
Great video Doug! I love these recent colabs with other car enthusiasts. I did want to add my thoughts on the XRunner. It was strange for Toyota but the idea of a lowered performance truck had been done before. Other trucks that came before it that fit in that category include the F150 lightning, GMC Cyclone, Dodge Ram little red express. The concept of an offroad oriented performance truck is relatively recent and it started with the Raptor
I live in a high Hispanic population part of Illinois, those lowered xpro tacomas are EVERYEHERE! Lowered and lifted trucks are equally popular around here, and Toyota did the lowering for you with that tacoma. Highest density of those trucks anywhere in the US 😂
I get wonderful compliments on my 30th Anniversary MX-5 almost every time I take it out, more than any other Miata I've owned since 1993 (Including a 10th Anniversary).
That particular Mitsu Pajero Evo was at NorthEast Auto Imports in Hudson NH which is local to me, so I have a few pics of it .. really cool looking .. they have had 5 there at once
The mistusbishi on the end has some real advantages off-road because it its size. The approach/departure angles are excellent, it has good ride height and a short wheelbase giving it an exceptional breakover angle as well. The compact size would also make steering around impossible obstacles much easier. People, particularly Americans tend be caught in the idea that SUVs need to huge and it just isn't true
I inquired about getting a 2004 Tacoma s-runner at a Columbus Ohio dealership. The sales staff had no idea what i was talking about, i had to show it to them in their own brochures! They claimed they looked into it and they were really only marketed in CA and some other southern states and wouldn't request one without a purchase order. A shame as i wanted to also install the TRD supercharger package that was offered thru the parts department...
Even though I'm not for it I still respect the man trying to bring us new people more and more to the point of us being comfortable with them so he can finally retire with his CGT. Mad respect! Especially knowing from what you started!
You guys are so young. Long before the Tacoma X-Runner was the Ford Lightning and the Chevy 454SS, long before that was the Dodge Lil' Red Wagon, and, not to mention the entire mini truck scene of the 80s and 90s. Personally, I would love to see street oriented version of the Raptor.
Doug this is a message from a Brazilian whom is subscribed from your channel for many years. The X-Runner was targeted at the market who would take 2wd Toyota Pickups, slam them, build the engine, and street race them. Toyota Pickups either get huge lifts and go off-roading or they get slammed and turbos.
I love how every one of Doug's friends takes the opportunity to make fun of him. True friends.

Doug’s reaction while almost crashing streetspeed717’s hellcat will forever be one of my favorite moments. They would have added in a clip. Classic.
Crazy how long ago that was 😢
One of the few times he swears on camera. Must have been scary AF but he recovered well. Thankfully the owner seemed cool about it.

Just such a pure non doug moment on the doug channel. If i cared to make a top 10 doug channel moments, that would likely be one
Crazy how that started the whole hellcat crashing into takeovers or anything meme
I can see an alternate timeline where Doug and Alanis are co-anchors on a small city morning news program in the mid 80s
I can also see an alternate timeline where he married her instead. 😂
Yea cuz they don't give that much a shit about cars anymore it seems especially doug
No, these two people don't read a script.
"Thhhhhhis- is your morning news!"
Honestly this would be a killer lineup for a podcast! Great host synergy and energy!
Yes they should create something together
Isn’t that what this is?
I could listen to the two of you talk for hours about cars. Love the format, and when you get your friends involved!
Kenneth is nice but Alanis and Doug are immensely more natural together on camera. matching energy. it actually really works
Idk man she agrees to everything he says. I feel Kenneth brings a differentiating opinion which I prefer.
Both are entertaining though!
Lmao lay off the simp 😂
Alanis has way more personality than Kennan.
I like that Kennan and Doug disagree on things and back their opinions (same with Hoovie and Doug). Alanis seems overly agreeable but I still like these new videos Doug is putting out regardless!
I don't care who Doug does videos with as long as it's not his normal review videos.

Even cooler about the XRunner - they did have some you could get with a dealer installed TRD Supercharger.
