I'm sure there's an expert out there somewhere that know how to code it off. I actually enjoy the function as it allows you to be stopped, and just briefly tapping the gas lets the car slowly roll in situation where you don't want quick movement.
Hi Bob I'm looking into purchasing a M5 F10 2013 face-lift model competition it has 53k miles and run in service was done at 3000 miles its my first M5 what are your thoughts does it sound OK Full BMW Service history
The facelift (LCI) didn't happen till model year 2014...there's some significant improvements. The 1200mile service didn't happen till 3000...don't think that'll make the car fall apart :) If all other services are documented it sounds ok. Look for signs that the car may have been tuned previously. If so be a bit more careful. If you're not sure let a qualified BMW mechanic go over things for you
Or any f10, not limited to m5 (except m buttons) DCT is just Auto Hold on for automatics. Tap on the gas to keep rolling when Auto Hold is enabled. Also no need to wait for 800rpm. Active vents inside (any f10, not grilles) will heat it up asap. And BMW recommends to begin driving immediately. All the higher rev limit does is warm up the catalytic converter, not engine.

It revs high because of cold start for heating catalytic converter. Nothing to do with oil, it’s only because of stupid emissions. The car will not distribute oil properly unless your driving, you should never leave it idling to warm up.

On my current X4 M40i the car goes high idle for 30sec!....hot or cold....drives me nuts!...but that cats are doing there thing then I guess ;)

While I would agree that sitting and idling for 10 minutes is suboptimal, waiting 20 seconds for the idle to come down is always a good idea. When BMW says drive the car immediately I'm sure they're referring to sitting and 'warming' up the car for 10 minutes, not 20 seconds for the cold start idle to come down. Good catch though.
+Bob Mac The cold-idle is nothing to do with oil distribution. It is a mode where the engine runs very inefficiently, putting a lot of heat into the exhaust and catalyst. This is to ensure the catalyst reaches a critical temperature as early as possible so that it can convert harmful emissions into N2, co2 and h20. It is around 10-15 seconds as that is what is required on regulation drive cycles to warm the catalysts before the vehicle drives. All cars from the last 15 years do this. Incidentally all engines will go through cold shock tests where the engine will be turned on and then immediately go to peak power to test durability.

+Bob Mac most ECU flash (for performance) come with the option to remove cold-start. Cold-start is especially problematic if you have a sports/race exhaust and and have removed catalysts. Then you just wake up the neighborhood!
"Tap-to-roll" oh yeah, tap and it does roll. The electronic safety brake is a modern anomaly, at least there is no mechanical release button force to over-power. "Tap-to-roll" - I love it (and so do my neighbours now).

You can't turn it off. Why would you, it engages the clutch. If you turn it off, you ain't going anywhere!
Put on your seat belt and the handbrake will automatically release ;)

The only problem is with setting your M1 mode manually like that is you don’t have the opportunity to turn off the traction control our the MDM.
The high idle on startup is actually to pre-heat the CATS it's got nothing to do with oil.

Yeah...I definately misspoke on that one...did turn off the coldstart on my X4...annoying! A little less heat in the cat for 20 seconds...lol.
The primary purpose of the cold start is to warm up the cats, not to distribute oil.
