These sets are nice, but it would be nice to have the regular Z1000 remote as an option for these sets as well as the DCS Remote Commander. Just seems like much more work to operate your set with hooking up to your Wi-Fi and downloading the app and what not, especially to someone that just doesn’t have an iPad or anything to control it with.
I agree. This is why I prefer Lionel. MTH is making great trains, but it shouldn't be such a hassle to just run the trains.

It didn't used to be like that. Lionel was the first to do it this way, not allowing you to run your trains conventionally. I used to praise MTH for having their ready to run sets be conventional and expandable; vs Lionel, which if you lose your LionChief remote, you lose your set. Now both companies are just as bad.
Cool / Like how it runs with the App on an iPhone. Clyde and Diane at Stockyard Express does an excellent job in representing your company Along with Ken at Trainland / Trainworld. • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
I am lucky to have a iPad and that 2-8-0 ain’t bad, and I would the both CSX ones, the pensy one and the bnsf and Amtrak ones, Them I’ll have modern locos lol, I need a SD70ACE and dash 9 and I’d get both, this is a good set for under my Christmas tree
Ooh explorer! Would that fit in an 0 scale boxcar out of its case I wonder!? Could be what us outdoor battery-powered 0-scalers have been waiting for for years!
Hello I have a question, are you going too bring back the O Scale Premier 4-4-6-4 Q2 Speciality Freight Set w/Proto-Sound 2.0 20-3412-1 back into production any time soon?
I want the mth explorer but not the set. The engine would not match my railking fleet as it is very very small and stubby and doesn't look as real as the mth rtr sets I got in the past.
Not going to lie, I'm a little bit disappointed . In the past it MTH had great starter sets whether it be sd70ace or the es44ac. But, this Of nine-one-one, veterans, and Union Pacific it isn't even right engine LOL. And it doesn't have the same features like ditch lights . I'm glad I didn't reach out to buy one. They really phoned it on this one.
Sorry to hear of the disastrous misfortune, Dave. I guess it is a result of our "throw away" society. Imagine how much joy that would have brought to a collector or a museum.
Very cool...as a younger person getting into the hobby, I appreciate the modernization of the model train tech!
Great video guys, clear and to the point. I think you're starter sets are the best. Have a great Christmas....Frank
Great how-to video MTH! I look forward to getting one the DCS Explorer Units for under the Christmas tree.

Worst of all, they say operating proto smoke unit on the features online yet no rtr diesel actually has a smoke unit.
I'd like two-rail track with roadbed attached. Wide radius for long locos and cars.
Time to go back to the future..........with a regular power pack.

I had rail King back in about 2001 I think I prefer the Lock-on and remote set up

I can’t believe it, all my Railking ready-to-run sets didn’t come with a DCS Explorer
I saw that “recent launch” NES emulator! Sneaky sneaky
Could you use the DCS explorer with a transformer like a z-4000
Are the other railking train sets a lot of money?

I’m looking for one of your own MTH Pere Marquette I went to your website and I can’t purchase it. Is it sold out or am I doing something wrong?
I wish they had these in CSX or Conrail... I want the DCS Explorer but instead I'll just get the 2015 set because there are better road selections
So I’ve heard that you’ve stoped using individual boxes for the RTR engine and cars? I hope that you still use boxes for the trains not a tray!
Can you just run it with a remote instead?
Walter's Trains you can but the sets are just coming with this new way of running. You can always buy the transformers

Please make the o gauge tinplate 263e Blue Comet and its passenger cars again.

Not your father's Lionel.
