Thank you! This was very helper to my wife and I. We are just getting set up. We purchased the MTH BNSF starter set. I wish we would have see your video before we started messing with it. We just learned alot. Thanks again.
After wrestling with My Norfolk Southern I watched this and it answered all my questions. I recommend anyone to watch this before you put one together or operate yours for the first time. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for that video it is quite informative nice sounds for a starter set I'm sure that lots of young folks would like it .I do and I'm 62 years young very nice
I like how this set maintains the same speed at low speeds through the corners. I just picked up a Lionel Polar Express Lion Chief set and overall been a little disappointed with it's quality(2 sets, 1 died power issue, replacement was was doa and all scratched up with black touchup paint everywhere, used both to make one decent set). One of many issues is at low speeds, it just dies to a crawl in the corners then sling shots out on the straight track. Really takes away from the realism. Another issue is light leakage from the front light in the seams of the front of the locomotive. They're just not tight and again, makes it seem cheap and takes away from the 'realism'. Kind of wish I would have went with a MTH but I'm a newb and the PE theme really sold me. I see a future in this hobby for me as it's still enjoyable :)
Hey, great video.! We have an older one and cannot get it to go in forward mode. Our train does NOT have a remote, and the manual is quite confusing. Any help ?
Where in the heck do you get the hookup wires and lock-on?? Im trying to use the z-1000 with my lionel since that was recommended on reddit but i cannot find anything else to hook it up and am definitely not an electrical engineer.
When I got the Commander all set up, as described, the engine took off at top speed. Even without touching the accelerator. Why? Tried 3 times and gave up.
Any idea why the train won't move? New set we bought last year and we are just setting it up - everything else appears to be working... Appreciate any ideas
I have a question. I saw in the Railking Starter video that Lubrication is required for the train engine. IF this is so, Would Phil Tenacious oil work?
You really do need to use some oil and grease if you run your trains regularly. Lightweight oil that is plastic compatible and use very little. One drop on axles where there is metal to metal contact. If you use too much you will create a mess. Grease in gearbox every so often but really depends on how much you run them.
It's probably because people inherit old Lionel sets as children and they buy new equipment to go with it. Eventually it snowballs. There are just some people that prefer 3 rail, the reason that I do is because I feel there is a wider range of products.
Matt S yes you can run any train on carpet but if it is tall carpet I would recommend to put pieces of paper under the track to keep the the carpet from getting caught
I remember watching this when I was little. It taught me a lot and when I got my first MTH set, I knew how to set it up!

Very nicely done video. Easy to understand and nice display of each feature being explained.
Excellent video! Keep up the great work!
What a great video, especially for the person just starting out. MTH makes awesome starters sets.
Absolutely terrific video, great job! Thanks!
super but long track beautiful

nice video.....very helpful.....i have the mth christmas set.....
Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice and informative video!
Great video. I'm trying to decide betwen Lionel and MTH. Any significant advantage to the MTH? Thanks!
mth is much cheaper and might have less features but works out of box
Nice

Any help ?
Does proto 1 do station announcements and the same features?
Will this setup, the track, DCS, transformer, and all work with the MTH *Imperial* line of trains?

Thank you I plan to get one
Say, is the set up for a 2.0 equipped steam locomotive the same? 🤔
Is their other railroad names for this set besides....P.R.R??
I have this exact train given to me. Why won’t my buttons work. Only a little smoke from the engine. doesn’t move. no sounds
Call the store tomorrow at 770-339-7780 and I will see if we can get you up and running. Thanks.

well have you tried to see if your getting power to the track?
what is the difference between proto 2 & 3... I understand that proto 1 will not work with DCS. thank you in advance.
Mine won’t run and when it does it runs very slow and sparks the shorts out.
I have a question. I saw in the Railking Starter video that Lubrication is required for the train engine. IF this is so, Would Phil Tenacious oil work?
Michael Saul you don't need lubricant
Sam Modica Really? I do NOT need lubricant?
Michael Saul yes I have never used any lubricant and my trains run fine it is just to get you to spend more money

I've tried every step.... and I have proto sound 3 and I did every step here and my engine only starts up... it won't move
well it could be the engine problem
The engine must be Protosound 2.0 or 3.0 for DCS to work with it
Where can you find a lock off track peace at
I new to my O scale, should you connect the lock on straight track or curved ?
straight
How do I know if my engine will work with the dcs controller
Does it come with batteries
Will this work with other electric tracks ?
yea i got my little dcs commander hooked to my lionel fasttrack
Three rails why go that way?two looks so much better

Agreed
I bought a mth proto 1 southern Pacific daylight 4449
how much price it is ?
Hi I have a mth 2004 set can it be ran on carpet
Matt S yes you can run any train on carpet but if it is tall carpet I would recommend to put pieces of paper under the track to keep the the carpet from getting caught
Just purchase the MTH remote set up
Can I hook that up to Lionel track
yes. you just hook the receiver up to a terminal track. you do not need MTH track. Thanks. Brian
legacystation so what your saying is I can buy the dcs remote and terminal and drive my mth engine on Lionel track with mth controller
That sounds like proto 3
