    Context without context: It's literally a Doomsday Beast. That's why the first part of the music makes me feel like I'm in a movie about the apocalypse :")

    Fellow musician here but more so a music geek and one of the biggest Genshin Impact fans, the music keeps me around of course as well as the story.
    Love your reactions, I can tell you are all the way in when it comes to music knowledge, way more than me, but I have my chops as well to keep up with your language around music.
    Personally I would recommend seeing the "Genshin Impact Orchestral Concert Official Shanghai Performance Recording" (not to be confused with the Melodies of an Endless Journey concerts) as the definitive way to experience this game's vast soundtrack. The video I recommend is genuinely recorded live as well unlike most pre-recorded Genshin Impact music videos.

      Second this recommendation! One of the best if not the best live videogame music concert I've ever seen.

      hugely agree the Shanghai concert is really good, it's sad to see that most people reacted to the recorded one which is worse imo

    5:49 Actual whale sounds btw.

      I love that detail, and how they incorporated it into the dubstep part. A normal whale call that we would know goes well with an orchestral piece like Tartaglia's boss theme, but putting in the clicks whales make underwater blends in SO WELL in a track like this!

    This was personally my favorite boss track/fight in the game. It just hit different.

      And the first 2 violin notes sounded like something out of Fallout New Vegas.
      The song: "Thorn in my side."

    Fan translation of the lyrics Latin to English.
    You want a thing from the deepest abyss to move.
    Watch, and see i oppose it.
    You believe in a world, equal once and in the future.
    You shall lay down laws.
    Remain standing as you devour the abyssal bones.
    Go! Beware! Remain standing as, abyssal one, devour.
    Beware! Oh beware!

      I'm pretty sure that "Iustissimus scelus avitus est." translates roughly to "The most justified offense (sin) is inherited (original)."
      Probably in reference to "The original sin is the fairest."
      Edit: Oh nvm these aren't actually translated from the official Latin lyrics lol.

    I recommend reacting to Scaramouche's boss theme called Polumnia Omnia. It's one of the best themes.

      Polumnia Omnia is only the final phase. I'd prefer a reaction to all the phase tracks together. And yes he already that that phase.

    all of the boss themes are great listens. my personal favorites are the la signora boss theme, tartaglia boss theme, and scaramouche boss theme (you've already listened to a live version of the final phase, but i recommend listening to all the phases)

      Did he listen to the live one with the different singer? Imo it just can't compare to Yu-peng Chen singing in the original, having the composer himself sing felt like a he knew how he wanted it done so he did it himself kind of thing. Also yes the songs are meant as a package deal, I hope he revisits them

  • @erdosxenia

    to get a better feel for the narwhal ost I recommend you react to the tartaglia boss ost, it's basically interconnected with this one

  • @lesterdoctor193

    Ode to Azdhaha and Rage Beneath the Mountains are great too.
    These are Azdhaha battle phase 1 and 2

    I don't know English, so I used Google translator.
    In game in the first phase with the boss, we listen to the soundtrack until the moment with the choral performance, then we go to the second phase where we listen to dubstep, then we return to the first phase to the whale, where he dramatically falls on his belly, and that choral performance accompanies us

  • @thatskyteyy

    fun fact: why is it dubstep? bcause of All-Devouring Narwal is not from teyvat and teyvat is full of orchestral music

  • @ShadoShade
    @ShadoShade 6 месяцев назад +37

    I do have somewhat mixed feelings about this particular song. It's very different from nearly every other track in the game, which is understandable since this song concerns something truly otherworldly and alien.

  • @notyou9061

    This is slightly unrelated, but Honkai Impact 3rd is a game made by the same producers as Genshin, but came before. I would say that a lot of the music from that game is even better than Genshin's, and a lot are actual songs instead of OSTs.
    If you're interested in it, I'd recommend Moon Halo, which is a fan favorite.

    • @thatskyteyy
      @thatskyteyy 6 месяцев назад +3

      also genshin is connected to honkai too bcause 1st at all, abt the 2nd phase and the Sea of Quanta thing and Shadow too, quantum element, and the sounds is not orchestral

    • @Koutouhara
      @Koutouhara 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@thatskyteyy Genshin is connected to the Honkai Impact and Star Rail universes via the Imaginary Tree in canon as bubble worlds so, it's not just because the Whale's second phase is in the Sea of Quanta. It's been known that they are connected since Genshin's release as it's original name was even going to be "Honkai 4th". They have just made the games in such a way that you don't have to play the others to enjoy the Hoyoverse still

  • @kazuhah1743
    @kazuhah1743 5 месяцев назад +3

    this boss music is quite different from previous boss themes. Don't get me wrong, it is solid video game music, but it hasn't got the thematic connection to the subject, the characterisation and internal development of the boss who is quite often a tragic figure in Genshin Impact, not to mention the musical beauty. The second part in synth base EDM style is more reminiscent of Honkai than Genshin (another set of gacha games by the same developer). On the whole it feels like solid ambient music to me

    • @anaplaysstuff
      @anaplaysstuff 5 месяцев назад +13

      One could argue it's so different because the narwhal is in and of itself different from every boss we've faced and is in fact not from the world. So having "out of this world" music actually is a connection to the subject. It would be stranger if it fit in with all the rest.

    • @yuwna
      @yuwna 5 месяцев назад +6

      Because it's not actually in Teyvat, in the "Genshin" world anymore; when you fight this boss, and you're inside it, you're not in Teyvat anymore

    • @kalenipclaw5683
      @kalenipclaw5683 Месяц назад +1

      well yeah, the narwhal is abyssal, not teyvatian, it makes perfect sense for the music to not fit with the rest of the game's music
      plus, people have noted similarities between the inside of the narwhal and the sea of quanta from honkai impact 3rd
