Some info about this OST: - it changes progressively based on the phases the boss has - the Bohemian Rhapsody reference is intentional - the composer is the main vocal (sang in chinese mixed with latin) - u were correct, the robotic and distortion effects were intentional as well (related to the boss) - the lyrics are heavily telling the story of the boss u fight, meaning, the song is sang by Scaramouche himself Edit: Although the composer is Chinese, the one part in the song I thought was Chinese, is in Japanese after all. I learned something new about the song, nice. Thanks for listening to this masterpiece Joey !!
fun fact for Joey - the main vocalist for this song is the composer it self Yu-Peng Chen but sadly he left the Hoyo-Mix team to pursue his own music career we will miss his involvement to the Hoyo games music.
The flute-like thing in that section that made you jump from the chair is the shakuhachi, a traditional japanese instrument that is a kind of flute. That's because Scaramouche was born in Inazuma, the region of the game that's inspired on Japan; that's where his roots are. The song, in fact, not only is "describing" the fight, but it also tells his tale. That's one of the many things that make Genshin boss fight themes so great: the main character has no role in them, the boss is the main protagonist of the song.
The song is sang in Latin with a bit of Japanese mixed in. Also fun fact: The main singer is the former lead music producer and composer of Genshin Impact and HOYO-MiX the mucic Archon Yu-Peng Chen.
Gotta love the shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) beat drop. Believe it or not, that really deep voice in the final phase is actually saying words, not just chanting. It's just in Latin and heavily distorted, so it's really hard to tell.
EYO HE FINALLY REACTED TO _THE_ MASTERPIECESHSJSJSKKS😭 6:26 Glad you caught that! A key element to the story being told through the song 10:10 the wait for your reaction to this was so worth it. Look at him in jam-land! 14:57 JOEY JOEY YOU CAN DO IT Yu Peng Chen truly embodied Scaramouche's tragedy when singing this. He delivered everything so _beautifully._
One thing I love about this song is that the first time that rap/dubstep beat drops, the notes played on the shakuhachi (the flute instrument) feel very melancholic and lost, which is then reinforced by the vocals a moment later. Then, the second time that section comes around, it's very aggressive and in control. Then the song in the demo of the playable version of this boss uses that exact same melody, just back to being slow and melancholic. Hoyomix and Yu Peng Chen knew exactly what they were doing with this theme..
This one of my favourite soundtracks to listen to, it's just crazy. You are missing out on Genshin Impacts insane music. You know you want it and you know we want it! Can't wait to see more reactions!!! ❤
This is definitely the best soundtrack for a boss fight ever created. Every detail in the song/music/lyrics is so in sync with the character, with his background and emotional stuff he carries with. Its indeed a masterpiece.
i remember first fighting this and i was literally shaking, i didnt even notice the music but at the same time in really was the reason i took it so seriously 😂
The instruments alternate between very robotic, edm sounding and more soft sounding wind instruments to describe this villian's life (where we was born and where he ended up). The vocals themselves also alternate between Latin and Japanese. To me, it describes so well the different lives of Scaramouche and the roles he played in his birth country and the fatui's country (the organisation he's part of). And how he's obviously an imposing, demanding villian yet a broken confused puppet within. The excitement and hype during this one was REAL, wish i could like it twice.
fun fact naming hem scaramouch is both fitting to the theme off all the fatui having names from Italian comedy but also a blatant Bohemian Rapsody reference as his official release was on the same date as bohemian rhapsody, the Ost when he was first introduced was called ominous fandango, and multiple lyrics from bohemian rhapsody relate to his life such as "Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me", and "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me" both aline with the fact that his mother is the lightning god Beelzebul or Raiden Ei
Genshin is a masterpiece when it comes to music so I would say definitely give a listen to more of the boss themes as well as the character trailers themselves which are not only visually incredible but the music in them SLAPS. That being said Scara's boss theme is easily the peak of boss music so far so you picked a great one to listen to here
@@ColetteMain1 This was merely a prediction of mine but to be fair, we went from giant Evangelion mecha god so strong we needed another god by our side to help us defeat it, to a regular-sized woman with a scythe. Interentingly enough the Scaramouche mentioned in that Queen song is actually the basis for the character in Genshin. It's a character made famous by a Finnish ballet in the 1600s. Also Scaramouche is called the Balladeer (meaning singer/composer of ballads).
Genshin's music has that unique hit about it because in nearly every song, they somehow manage to use old-style instruments with modern music. Yu Peng really one of the few music artists that can unironically be like: "How about we throw in a banjo and play dubstep behind it" and make it work.
This suite is genuinely a goddamn rollercoaster to listen to from a musical analysis standpoint and I'm so glad you captured the utter whiplash anyone with formal music training felt when they heard this for the first time.
