2020 C8 Corvette 0 to 60 acceleration, with and without launch control.
Also 0-100 (actually 0-120). We have been getting comments saying Carwow did not get the same time we did. Car wow was using a car that was not broken in (under 500 miles). The computer limits power and torque in the first couple of gears until the car is broken in.
Curious to see the difference between using launch control and not using launch control we decided find out just how much.
Our biggest difference from 0-60 was from 3.6 w/o launch control to 2.7 with launch control. That is almost a second, which is a lifetime when it comes down to racing. The least difference was 3.4 w/o launch control to 2.9 with launch control. Still a 1/2 second difference and still substantial in the racing environment.
W/o launch control the car tended to bog and by the time everything came together time was wasted. Also in launch mode the shifts seemed to be happening quicker. Launch control changed the C8 from Clark Kent to Superman. It really puts it in the company of some very expensive cars.
So if you have a Corvette on order you will not be disappointed when you do get it and miles 500 comes along and the power train goes to full power.
Please like, share, comment, subscribe and above all drive within your car's limits and above all drive within your limits.

My Supra is supposed to do 3.8 to sixty, yet when I race c8 I’m there by a whole car and half before the c8, so I guess the Supra does it in 2.0 flat
Hey BluemonsterA91, welcome and congrats on a beautiful car. We tried to get the blue but had to settle for black. As far as the C8 and the A91 is concerned you are preaching to the choir as we owned both. I do agree that the Supra is way underrated (estimate 430 hp maybe a little more) and it is a blast to drive, but it is no match for a broken in C8 (495 HP). I say broken in because until the break in period is over the electronics in the C8 limit the power and Torque to 80% in the first few gears. We did an acceleration video comparing the Supra, C8, and the Lambo Huracan and while the A91 is respectable it's not quite there yet ruclips.net/video/cw4OaS-Z0cQ/видео.html
Of course I am talking stock to stock. You can easily make the Supra a monster for a lot less than the C8 and put some MT's on the back and yea, 0 to 60 in the 2 second range can become a reality. Please stroll thru the playlist and enjoy the A91. If you have not ceramic coated it yet, you should look into it we did ours and man, what a difference. Here's a video on how to do that ruclips.net/video/QGc0UMHtO3s/видео.html and thanks for watching.
@@goodlife777 I’m just going by what I’ve experienced personally, not one of the 9 c8 I’ve raced on the street have beat me to sixty, hell they don’t even beat me to 100.
The a91 y’all using is slow, feel free to check out what a real a92 acceleration looks like.
@@goodlife777 ruclips.net/user/shortszEyAbSqW9Xk?feature=share
I would not say our A91 is slow. If you bought yours new and the computer has not been flashed(ours was locked), and the car is still stock(?), then yours is just fast. In a nutshell Toyota said to BMW: 'you build the car, but we will tune it.' I guess they tuned yours a bit more. As we mention in the video, the car has great potential. It also responds very well to bolt on mods, such as exhaust, cold air intake, etc. Safe drives and enjoy!
Damn! That is quick.
Very quick
Agreed
Super quick
Stupid quick considering it is on regular asphalt and not heated tires on VHT. It launches like an AWD on the street. It is so daman consistent. Wait until it has over 600 hp.
@@marcsmith3881 honestly i dont think the z06 will be much faster to 60 maybe a tenth or 2 more due to better tire grip but that probally it the better downforce and power doesent really make a difference below 60.

@@goodlife777 Making me second guess getting a C7 now lol. Wish had I just a bit more for a C8
Having owned one C7 stingray and 2 C7 Z06's (one manual & one auto), all of them great cars, I can tell you it is a whole new ball game. The C8 puts the power down with just a little wheelspin and off you go. No more squirreling and having to fight to keep the car straight. The launch control in the C7 was pretty useless. I always had the best 0 to 60 time without using it. But as you can see with the C8 it makes a huge difference. If there is any way you can get a C8 do it. Right now they are still hot pricewise but give it a little time and they will come down in price. Good luck to you.

Is there ANY mesurement besides the cockpit stopwatch that confirms anything around 3 secs? I dont think so. In a german car show (Grip) the C8 clearly lost the dragrace against a 2WD 911S that has a time of 3,5sec to 62mph.

Want to see this same test with independent measuring tool, car wow guy got 3.7
hey Jiheem, I left a very detailed post on car wow's video as some other people commented on my video also. Car wow is using a C8 that has not reached the 500 mile break in. If you notice his redline (around 4500) is no where near where it should be (or the one on my car) That car had 60 miles on it or so. until the car has been driven 500 miles the computer limits the torque in first and second gear so you do not have full power. Let me find my post and I will send you another reply. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow my post is second. Anyway here is what I posted: Hey Mat. We are not in the habit of posting our links on other channels but someone left a comment on our C8 video, saying carwow did not achieve the 2.7 sec zero to 60 times we got. It looks to me like your car is not broken in. 64 miles on the odometer? It has not hit the magic number of 500 miles. Torque is reduced in the first couple of gears until the 500 mile mark is achieved. You are getting approximately the same 0 to 60 we got when we did not use launch control. You will notice in our video that we waited until the car hit the 500 mile mark. Watch and you will see the RPM redline increase. ruclips.net/video/dqS4s71QM68/видео.html
@@goodlife777 didn't catch that, I gotta go look again.
Carwow didn't achieve to launch in 2.7
Hey bro. Just watched that video. They are using a car with 64 miles on the odometer. The car is not broken in. Power is reduced until the car hits 500 miles. They got about the same times I got w/o launch control. Thanks for the comment and for watching. 👍
They didn't read the manual lol
You need to use proper independent timing gear as the speedo may be optimistic.
the numbers are unrealistic, the result is just like a BMW M5 F90 stock. And what then will happen if you attach a compressor there forces so 700-800 2.5 to 100? from the launcher
We appreciate your comment. We just report things as they happened. Hopefully more subscribers will comment on this. Thanks for watching.
To get the best time is it to put it in track mode, traction and stability both off and use launch control? with stability off were there any times that the car is dangerous when you did 0 to 60?
Hello Andy,
Yes launch control gets you the best time. The car was never dangerous during any launch. The tires were warm and the outside temperature was moderate. On a hot day the C8 would hook even better but the temperature could affect the acceleration. With the engine in the rear the Corvette has transformed itself into a new machine compared to the C7. Speaking of the C7, we owned a 2015 Stingray and a 2018 Z06 and no matter what we tried we found that launch control was basically useless. We actually got better times without launch control, with just the traction control off and stability on. With launch control the C7 would squirrel to the point that who ever drove it had to modulate the gas pedal, in effect rendering the launch control useless. I would think that this is true for most front engine/rear drive cars. Not many cars can keep up with the C8 in acceleration in the C8's price range. It even gives the exotics a run for the money. Check out this video comparing the C8 to the Huracan ruclips.net/video/Xm9ayMaKhqc/видео.html.
All in all we are very happy with the C8 and cannot wait for the C8 Z06 to be built so we can pick it up at the museum. Thank You for watching and safe drives.
@@goodlife777 Very nice thanks for the reply. When will z06t be at dealers? I got a C7 Z06 now, thinking about selling it for some nice bucks and maybe get a C8 Z51 or wait for C8 Z06. They don't got manual tho so I am taking that into consideration too. Either way I probably will sell my Z since the used car market is so high right now. (For C8 0 to 60 and street driving , not dangerous to have stability off? I am talking about just straight lines) (Also did any C8 owners have problem with transmission from doing launch control too much? is it pretty strong transmission so far?)
Hey Andy, the reveal for the Z06 is supposed to be around August. The car was supposed to be a 2021 but the way things are going with all the delays it may be a 22. It will probably be the same way it was with the Stingray in that there will be a long list of people wanting it so you probably cannot just go into the dealership to get one. So there will be a waiting period. As far as the C8 with the stability off, as long as the tires are warm and the pavement is dry there should be no issues. Only time you have to worry is if it is cold as the Z51's come with summer tires only. Even then if you feather the gas pedal it will be fine. I used my 2 Z06's (1 stick, 1 auto) in NYC in the winters and never installed all season tires on it. I never used the gas pedal like a light switch. There have been some issues with transmissions, and half shafts (with people who modified them), but the factory makes almost 200 C8's a day, so there are bound to be some issues. No issues with ours 14 months later and we have done many many launches.
Let us know if you get one, and consider doing the Factory delivery. Here the video of when we picked ours up ruclips.net/video/FxBi38dugBE/видео.html

Hey Lazar, stock wheels and tires. Car is completely stock, no modifications.
The timer doesn’t start rolling when the tires are struggling for traction, that’s probably why Matt at Carwow can’t get the 2.9 stated 0-60 time with his timing gear. Regardless, C8 is a mad fast car!
Hey Eason thanks for watching and commenting. If you are referring to the CarWow video from October 2020 there is a very good reason why they did not achieve the numbers we got. I don't know if your still on here, but I'm looking to buy a C8 Corvette. Can you tell me if it's reliable? I'm mixed between a Supra 3.0, C8 Corvette, and Camaro.
Hey DragThe Butter, yes we are still on here. The C8 is just about to break 20,000 miles and all we have done since picking it up in March of 2020 is regular maintenance. Over 100,000 C8's have been built so there are some people with issues, but the % is low. The most serious issue being the transmission, but then again every brand has its issues. We owned an A91 Supra (there are some videos on the channel) and we can tell you it is a great car, but it is not on the same level, and of course neither is the Camaro. Hello James. We do agree with you as we own both the C8 and a couple of the super /exotics. I think people compare the C8 to the other cars because it is a very capable car and has the ability to match them in many respects. We love our C8 but that is where the similarity ends. We love the C8 but at the end of the day it is still a mass produced car and pretty soon you will be seeing them everywhere. I think they already produced close to 15,000 units and that is with the Corona shutdowns. Our philosophy is enjoy whatever you drive. thank for the support. Safe drives.

This dude sounds like "Rin and Stempy" yes?
Do you think 0 to 60 time would make a difference if I go for the basic 1lt package instead of a 3lt or z51 package?
Hey Batata, a 1lt C8 is lighter than a 3lt therefore would be slightly quicker. The gearing of the Z51 does make it quicker to 60 mph. So ideally the quickest C8 is a 1LT Z51 to 60 mph. The non Z51 does have a higher top speed due to gearing and lack of spoiler, which slows down the Z51 due to drag exponentially the faster you go.. So if you are only concerned about 0 to 60 a 1lt Z51 is the way to go. The car in the video is a 2lt Z51. Thanks for watching.

Without launch control would probably get better times if you launched it at the same rpms as the launch control instead of 1000 less, pretty sure these cars make their most hp around the 3000 and up
Good idea but the electronics will not allow that. If it had a clutch pedal (no longer available) like the C7 Z06 it would be interesting to see.
@@goodlife777 I didn’t know they didn’t come with manuals, my bad. Would definitely be pretty interesting to see if it’d be a more even contest. Badass cars and I’ve been thinking about saving pennies and getting one, might take a while to get that many pennies though….

@@goodlife777
It deserves to be looked into. GM has a lot riding on shaving a full 1.2 seconds off the C8's fastest verfied stock 0-60 time. Its also worth noting that a dyno already measures, not estimates, a cars best theoetical 0-60 time, with no gear changes or wheel slip. Thats what HP means, time to distance. So a 3900 lb car (w/driver) measuring 495HP has a best theoretical 0-60 of 3.67 secs. Its determined by physics, not BS marketing. If the dyno measured enough torque x RPM to do 2.9 secs at the C8's weight, it would calculate exactly and precisely 816HP.
Great detailed explanation. Thank you.
@@goodlife777
Dynos aren't perfect, but the method of calculating HP is:
HP = Work/Time (by definition)
Work = Force x Distance
so
HP = (Force x Distance)/Time
or
HP = (Torque x Rotations)/Time
or
HP = Torque x RPM
So the power to create RPM is already a measure of time to distance.
Doing "Work" requires moving a mass some distance.
Power is the ability to do that in some measured time.
The ideal 0-60 time is 100% reflected in the HP calculation, all you have to do is plug in the weight of the car.
495HP actually means something.
If you put a 495HP motor in a 1000lb car, it does 0-60 in exactly x time. If you put it into a 3900lb car in takes Y time. There is no guessing, the dyno is telling you those answers, by measuring. The GM marketing toads seem lost.
Just to reiterate, HP is a measured RESULT of a time to distance test, not a capability.
@@FFE-js2zp real world testing and driving 0-60 also depends on altitude, air temperature, humidity and driver reaction time not just computer calculations.
going down hill?
with a tail wind lol
That was 5 seconds not 3
What am I missing? can you explain more? thanks.
also curious
Same here.
so you're trying to tell me the TESLA SUV is faster than this corvettte? the PLAIDD goes from 0-60 in 2sec!
Yes. Numbers are numbers. The EV cars have an advantage off the line: instant torque. You get all the torque the car has the moment you hit the gas. Internal combustion engines, the torque builds up as the car revs. Of course the EV cars don't have the top end. At least for now. Thanks for watching.
The PLAIDD is 140K looks like a family sedan doesn't have the rumble. I'll keep my C8.
@@PhilSS same here 👍
Anything below 4 seconds is fast? Try anything under 5 in real world use your average cars would almost never go 0-60 in under 6 seconds let alone 5 😑
How bout anything below 4 seconds is faster than fast or really fast. 👍

So they lied by telling us 0-60 in 2.8 seconds
Slower than what ford said it would be...
Hey ImtheOne, what did Ford say it would be
