Dean was far too young for marriage (Lindsay also - she had no plans after high school!). Dean should’ve left Stars Hollow for a bigger town for study or work, and got away from the same old people… spread his wings a bit and moved on from Rory. Gotten some life experience & developed some independence.
It wasn't that they were too young. it was that Dean was hung up on Rory, they hadn't planned their marriage out, and they had been dating for less than a year.
To everyone saying never bring an ex to a wedding: the idea is having an ex there will bring up unresolved feelings (e.g. in himym, Stella running away with her ex). IMO (been single all my life) what better test is there than to have an ex at the wedding. If you’re so weak as to run away with your ex then good riddance, saved yourself a lifetime of pain.
Yeah the problem here wasn't having an ex at the wedding it was that Dean never moved on from Rory. Lindsay was just the rebound, I called the cheating the minute he said he was engaged. It also doesn't help that Lindsay and Dean were still teenagers when they got married, that's a recipe for disaster, they were already having problems long before he slept with Rory. It's why places like the south and Midwest have the highest divorce rates, religious pressure to marry young. The D+L marriage was doomed from the start. It would have fallen apart even without Rory there.
Who says that’s the idea? I don’t have unresolved feelings, I wouldn’t be marrying someone else if I did. I just believe that you shouldn’t have a bunch of ppl you’ve slept with all together. One of my best mates found out that his last two ex-GFs were now working on the same floor in the same department with desks next to each other (they all graduated the same degree) and were becoming buds, hanging out, and as he said to me, swapping notes! He was really disturbed by it. I’m all for staying friends and I have but I really draw the line at having them witness your new relationship. Also, I hate my stepdaughter’s mum, she’s a complete idiot and my stepdaughter deserves better. So I wasn’t having her at the wedding.
OMG Just went to the Stars Hallow tour yesterday for the holidays. it was amazing and so cool. I can't believe WB studios has kept the town alive. It was a great experience for any fan!
i mean it was definitely rorys fault she really ruined him , i never got the reason why ppl hated dean he was such a good boyfriend and when she started messing with his feelings and liked jess even when she was dating dean he really had all the rights to be possessive and mad
@@kimyunaa6676 i hope we watched the same show 😭 bruh Dean was potentially aggressive: He always yelled at Rory, he never took into account her dreams to Harvard all because he wanted to settle for something much less, he was very jealous and possessive even before Rory met Jess. He even hit things in front of Rory and Lindsay. Rory is no better person than him, but she didn't ruin him. He was already a loser misogynist from the start, and it's Lorelai's fault that people see him as the best boyfriend Rory ever had.
@@kimyunaa6676 Watching the show as an adult, Dean really sets off some pretty significant red flags. He's jealous, possessive, and has really extreme emotional reactions to things. He immediately breaks up with Rory just because she needed a minute to collect her thoughts (totally reasonable) after he told her he loved her. Watching the show as an adult, I feel like Dean is really immature and has a lot of issues with trust, self-worth, and emotional regulation. By the time they break up for good in season 3, I was ready for Rory to move on. She deserved better, and while I don't condone her behavior regarding Jess, Dean is definitely no saint. I think it's sad that he was never able to really move on, but his relationship with Lindsey proves that he also wasn't up to doing the work of moving on. He took the literal first girl who came along after Rory and spent his entire marriage being bitter and emotionally violent. Honestly, I think the guy needs a good therapist.
I had an ex at my wedding and not just any ex, my first true love ex. He wasn't the reason why we got divorced. The groom turned out to be an abusive piece of shit, and that's why we divorced.
Everyone keeps saying Rory chose Jess over Dean, but here’s the thing. She actually didn’t. Dean broke up with her and then she immediately got together with Jess. It’s obvious that Dean loved Rory more than she loved him, but still, just because she had feelings for Jess while with Dean doesn’t mean she no longer felt anything for him. If it’s even possible, I think Rory was in love with both of them at the same time. Then once Jess was out of the picture, her feelings for Dean were solely concentrated. It was irresponsible for him to marry Lindsey when he was still harboring feelings for Rory and what they ultimately did was despicable. I would never try to justify adultery. I’m just simply pointing out that regardless of how messy things got, Rory and Dean never really stopped loving each other, not even when Jess and Lindsey were involved. From A Year in the Life, I’m glad Dean has a happy, successful second marriage and is long over Rory because he deserves that. The two of them were once great together. They just weren’t meant to last. But hey, Dean will be literally all of Rory’s firsts (first kiss, first boyfriend, first love, and first time).
I think you're on point with how Rory and Dean always genuinely cared for one another. I think perso they should have stayed together longer, break off while at Uni and meet others, but cone together as adults.
@@Bekka_boo13It doesn't matter how nice Lindsay was . man should not marry a woman when he's in love with a different one. Dean was not over Rory at that time

@@MsSonnencreme unfortunately it’s quite rare when egos get in the way but liking or loving someone as a human no matter the label of the connection is beautiful. Dean in the words of Ted Mosby from HIMYM "Never bring an ex to your Wedding"
dean hard time with jess about Rory very bady
It is so true.
Better yet, if you're still hung up on your ex, don't have a wedding.
is he the father of her baby
He was right.
Their small talk at the beginning is so relatable🙈
Rory caused Dean a mental break down... so bad he took on another personality Sam. Who hunts demons and hangs with angels. Like wow.
Poor Lindsey 😔
Dean and Luke are on the same place. Lorelai and Rory want them, only if theyre not interested...
The scene in the end is very good, Alexis preformed it very well

Doesn't that normally happen in smalltown folks?
They moved around the corner from their parents and Dean was then working 2 jobs to support them
Totally agree
