Yooo I got to 2000 with the Caro Kann and the Jobava London!! I used Semi Slav (a6 meran and cambridge springs transposition vs the 2 mainlines) type setups vs d4 c4 Nf3 with black and it worked out pretty well and was pretty congruent w my repertoire. thanks man! keep up the good work!
as always, excelent instructive videos I have been grinding with just the Capeybara carokann and the Jobavacado London and have been constantly improving this past year.. was stuck at the 600-700 range for a while and I am currently almost at 950! also I am consistently beating oponents in my same ELO and ahve been able to win a couple over 1000 Thanks coach!
Thanks for all the chess help Alex , instead of explaining what moves to do next you explain how to analyze the current situation and look for the most candidate and prominent moves. A lot of different factors go into that analysis and sometimes some ideas counter others but watching these videos is helping make it clearer. Thanks :)
this first game is such a thing of beauty, a great showcase for the next level of thinking in chess, playing not for the mate but for these strategic advantages
I've finally got to the point where I can pause the video and usually come up with the correct move. Thanks for sharpening my tactical thinking Alex ❤.
Great video! I love hearing concepts and principles. In 2nd game, I believe that's called a Dovetail Mate - Rook and Queen being the tail. PS: Nothing weird about repeating concepts every game. It's helpful. You're not leaving new viewers in the dark!
Thanks for the help Alex, the last year i had a coach. You and my coach made me travel from 800 to 1400! Thank you so much brother. Now im struggling to become 1500 because Basket and school, but your videos always make me wanna play. Seriously man, thank you sou much! ❤
3:46 as a long time league of legends player i always get whiplash when he mentions it. no other chess context creator does this but thee alex banzea 😂
I messed up after my opponent played k e4 and he has already pinned my knight with his dark squared bishop i literally forgot the moves and was under pressure and pissed off at the same time😢
Nice video. I like how you're explaining chess. In game one, Bxh2+ (instead of h7-h6) was winning an easy pawn. While I understand why you might want to discard the tactic, it is quite basic and could lead to a quick victory if the bishop is accepted. It would therefore be nice to mention it, rather than pick a position where it doesn't work (move later) and dismiss it altogether. Great video as always!
From capybaras to kangaroos, it's Alex's Chess Jungle I was just thinking to see some videos of playing black against the Jobava London, good to see the first game in this video
In America, the term is "Set the hook" as opposed to "Fix the hook". "Set the hook" is a fishing term describing the act of yanking the fishing pole backwards to ensure the hook pierces the fish's mouth.
Yeah, but in chess when you move your pawn into opposition with the opponent pawn, that's called fixing the pawn, because the pawns are fixed in place and can no longer advance unless they can capture another piece. So in this context, fixing the hook makes sense.
@@erichobbs4042 Correct. However, I was merely giving him insight into American English, as he often comments that he is disappointed with his English.
47:07 Hi Alex, in case of a blunder by your opponent, it would be very amusing if you told your opponent in the chat that he made a mistake and it would be very interesting how he would react to it ✌️ Thank you for your great videos
I like to take on Bd3 anyways. I'm a simple person. I want a simple game so less pieces is better for my little chess brain. You see how tricky it got for you? Good thing you could calculate! 35:08 was the perfect advice!
Or you can take free material and teach how to convert a winning position "positionally", as they say: one of the hardest things in chess is to win a winning position
6:50 Alex: “Calculation is limiting your chess! Do this instead!” Proceeds to calculate for about a minute against a 1000 then chooses the instinctive move. Chess is more than just calculation but if you don’t calculate you’re going to lose against the tricky tricksters.
so I'm not 1000 elo , but I'm sitting here LISTENING to your game Alexa Black JOJO , and you call me out with " if you're just listening to my video and not watching " --- I'm like What the heck ?? you got cameras in my house and calling me out for not paying attention lol😅... FYI -- I save every one of your videos and watch them over again.. but now , gotta go .. ALEX THE MAN !! 👑
in 8:11 does the bishop sac work? I'm thinking that should be winning even though you're giving a piece for 2 pawns, the white king looks pretty busted
We need high rated games alex. Last 4-5 videos you uploaded, were all around 1000 elo. It would be very helpful if you could play against 1500+, at least your opponents will not blunder and we will more likely face opponents of similar elo. I have liked all of your videos, just disliking this one due to the fact mentioned above.
You have a video on how to play nearly every variation of the caro kan except for the Leela line in which white plays d3 instead of d4 and traded queens. I hate this and can't find anything on the internet on how to play against it as black. Youre the main caro guy and have a video on how to play it against everything else. Can we please get a video for this drawish nonsense?
Alex, why not play 15/10 rapid format, or at least 10 minutes with increment? So you won’t have to rush things and have more time to explain things to us mortals 😉 It will definately increase educational value of your video’s.
Hey Alex, I love what you do but it is becoming a bit stagnant. I want to see better quality games against stronger opponents. I'm thinking better use of time while playing and save all the side explanations for the recap. Quality first, talk second!
not taking the rook in game 3 reminds me why i unsubscribed from the channel 😅i dont see the point of playing suboptimal moves and claiming that this is educational!!
Building and then converting a positional advantage while material is roughly equal is, in my opinion, far more valuable content than grabbing a blundered hanging piece. Does anybody really need to be educated on how to grab a hanging piece? Direct practice will help, so tunnel vision doesn't have you missing the opportunity, but no video or lecture is going to help you with that.
Alex I love your videos man but I stopped watching them since you only play against 1000 rated opponents. Please go back to doing some videos against higher rated opponents. Cheers man.
…what a nasty Joke, Alex you played normally rated over 2000 and show us here „how strong you are“ against a 1000er. It is like a pit bull plays with a Sausage ! Thump down !
Time to watch this video and then go lose 5 games in a row 🎉
😂😂😂💯
Yeah, it will happen to you for a while every time you try new ideas
Only 5?😂
Haha thats me. But I love the Jobava London opening. And now i see why I lose a often as win with it
-that first game showed up all my mistakes
I thought it was only me
Thanks Alex! I was 2000 rated last week, now I've finally reached 400 🙏🏼
YOU are not supposed to ignore free rooks; only IM Banzea can do that.
Currently on a losing streak. Was 1240, now I’m on 1030 😂
@@AndyJMacLeoddamn that must be harsh
LOL! "Calculating every move in chess can feel like running on a treadmill after eating at an Indian restaurant". Haha! What an opening Alex! 🤣🤣😆😆
Thanks

@@antoxa5835 thanks man, youll break through in no time!
Your approach to Chess is so different and refreshing. Thank you Alex! 🎉
So true...

Hi Alex - Thank you, I was waiting for Black vs. Jobava London
Instructions unclear. Reprogrammed my brain and lost feeling in my left leg.
Thanks!
Excellent explanation of weaknesses. Thank you for posting
By the way, love your sense of humor! A definite plus over other chess RUclips channels
Lets goooo :) perfect timing, just what I needed right now to start into the weekend
Alex providing us with winning procedures
first opponent played really well for their rating
this first game is such a thing of beauty, a great showcase for the next level of thinking in chess, playing not for the mate but for these strategic advantages
we want above 2000 Elo games
I've finally got to the point where I can pause the video and usually come up with the correct move. Thanks for sharpening my tactical thinking Alex ❤.

I like the fixing the hook idea. Going to have to remember that one.
It feels so good when you upload a video. I click on it under a second. ❤
Alex you video's are so good. You are the best chess teacher on RUclips.
35:29 it could also be called a Dovetail Mate, because white's Queen and Rook alone take enough squares to prevent the escape of the king.
Sneakily or stealthily are perfectly fine.

Normal. "wait 'til next time"
Great attacking tactics as always!
Another great instructive video. I beat the Capablanca bot using your ideas in the black london.

I missed it during both the game and editing process 😂 (partly because I’m used to Nf3 instead of Ne2)
Love it!
How DARE someone open against Banzea with the jobava!
Queen looking at the king like a knight 🤣🤣

I'm a simple guy. I see Alex, I hit like
I’m watching this way pass my bedtime, but are the slav and black London … never mind lol
Game 1 that guy played real well for a 1000 ELO, especially against an elephant.
Thank you for the video! Do you ever stream the speedrun games ?
thanks

I watch these videos and feel very confident the I loose four games then I just😂😂
35:29 by that logic, isnt every checkmate where the king is not on the edge of the board, a square checkmate lol
No capybara break, my life has no reason T.T Great video.
Thanks for the videos Alex. How do you know when to move the kingside pawns in the boa snake?
Thanks Alex, I was waiting for Black London VS Jobava london. 😂
Hey Alex. Are you liking the Black London over the King’s Indian for D4? Or just showing us another option?
I like black london for players below 2000 online!

45:30 why not A6?
The polish flag is white and red
Im 1000elo, I hope i can improve it 😞
3:29 why not 6. Nb4?
Probably because the knight can get pushed around there, and it will waste turns having to move the knight.
Are you ever gonna try to be a GM again?

I faced it many times and played g6 without trading queens. There is surely something with it on the channel!
Why are 1000s playing so good?💀 (I'm 2000) these dudes look like they r playing like 1800s
