Hi Alex - found your videos a month ago as a lowly 450 elo. The grind is slow but definitely starting to get the "feel" of the jobava system. Elo now 850 - getting there.

please never stop Alex, i have watched so many chess youtubers and not learned a single opening or actually improved my game, but you actually explain your moves and the theory behind it so i can start to get into your mindset and improve, seriously, i cannot thank you enough, i have FINALLY been able to win winning positions thanks your clear and concise and most of all EASY attacking patterns. most other chess youtubers wont explain why other moves are losing or why flashy moves arent the greatest go to. i love your videos man, seriously.

Alex I do like the Jobava. I have to mention though that it's close relative, the Colle is very nice as well. I have been testing the Colle-Zukertort against the bots and it smashes them well past 1300...I think the main lines from that one will also be effective against people under 1000. I also suspect I will win often if I don't blunder. I imagine with enough prep in these lines I can punish their blunders pretty quickly and convert, we'll see soon enough.

Hi Alex you are an amazing coach. I've bought your London and Caro course on chessable and I'm just overwhelmed. It's more than I could have ever hoped for and the lines are well thought-through and fun. But now I still have a problem: What should I play as black if my opponent opens with d4 (or maybe some other lines than e4)? Please make a course about what you recommend.
Maybe the Slav is an option, it's similar to the Caro and I've seen you already did a rating climb. But I'm not really sure, it's seems pretty stale, however you might convince me otherwise.
Finally I wanted to ask if you still take students and if yes how much do you charge? Thanks a lot.

I know you have a cheeky style but the first game the 1000 player did well for that level. At that level they can play many good moves but eventual throw in a blunder. Of course inaccurate moves at the beginning decreases the margin of error and under time pressure you'll crack sooner or later. A lesser player wouldn't have won that game if they took your place halfway though. But that's ok because opening knowledge can only take you so far. It takes good chess to convert a early advantage into a win.

40:25 'He has to go b4 and probably he takes, which gives us the bishop pair'
'But you already exchanged light-squared bishops on move 9 with bd3. How do you get the bishop pair?' asked the humble 900-rated patzer to his favourite IM!
I only spotted this mistake after watching this video for the 20th time - I still think you're the best!

I really love your videos brother. But I’ve been playing for a year now and I’m am truly humbled by the game of chess. What’s the real way to get better? There are so many variations and it’s hard to keep up. Not many people at lower ratings play like this and it’s frustrating. If I played for another 10 years I don’t think I would learn much by just playing. I play tennis and the more you play the better you get. Not the same for this board game 😂

I jist noticed that in lower rated games , people like to play hillbilly atk, which i think the worst version of caro-kann and some like to hop scholar mate( even in this video). And then its become a ez win

It is a very instructive draw even if you do because the white queenside pawns are just fast enough to queen. Instructive how the black doubled pawns allow this drawing opportunity.
