  • Gnarly Routes riders Russell Bobbitt and Cole Kirkpatrick challenge all riders to post their time and video from a full run on 5 MOH.
    Sit back and watch the crazy lines, listen to the heavy breathing and witness gnarly riding in one of the Utah's most challenging public trails!
    Use caution when riding this trail as it is in a very remote location with zero phone service and limited bail out points.

    Brutal! I'm fatigued and sore from watching! I'm a 56 year old Midwest trail rider who occasionally winds up on the ground. I can't imagine taking a spill at those speeds on this terrain. It hurts like hell on dirt! My hat is off to anyone who can ride this trail, especially at this speed!

    • @gnarlyroutes
      @gnarlyroutes  5 лет назад +3

      It was a pretty brutal trail ride, we were working that's for sure but not taking any unnecessary risk. Bobbitt is a five-time national enduro champion so his trail riding pace is very fast. We also agree, hats off to anyone that can ride this trail. It's not easy, no matter the speed.

    Amazing riding and a very entertaining video. I found myself wishing for more equal camera time. This footage would be a great edit to talk about bike setup and riding styles with details for those of us not familiar with you. I was impressed by the 500 in those conditions. It seemed to have plenty of agility, yet still appeared to be flattening the technical obstacles. Thanks for the upload.

    Bitchen ride guys, reminds me of a national qualifier D-37 enduro I rode in Red Mountain, in CA. Up 395 around china lake. I was a B rider at the time and we rode the same loop as the A rider, 38 miles but A riders had to do 2 loops. This was in the mid 80’s and I was on a 250 KTM enduro and riding with my long time racing friend Doug Douglas who was an A rider and fellow Ascot Flattracker. Thanks for bringing back those memories. Still putt on a 690 at 70 years young but the body is about shot, BRAAP.

    I just broke my collar bone 4 weeks ago riding of all things a scramble out in Oregon. I was relaxed and riding about the same pace ( with 1% the difficulty) so now my arm is out of a sling, part of my personal P.T. regiment is to watch some good MX riding. This is beyond, having ridden out in Moab a few times, watching this is making the metal plate on my clavicle hum...my stomach clenches and i found myself watching this and forcing myself into breathing like I was exercising...Seriously epic ride for both of you. Looking back at the video, what were some Oh Shyt moments for you personally? I got the side hill climb that was almost a role back, but any others? Thank you for posting this!

    • @gnarlyroutes
      @gnarlyroutes  5 лет назад +3

      Not too many oh shit moments, Russell had a hard hit that he mentions in the video but the toughest thing was that the trail doesn't give you anywhere to relax. Especially when doing it without stopping.

      This was Russell's first time on this trail (Cole did it once in 2015) and we had planned on just doing a full run through. We did stop at the end and look around but it would've for sure been nice to stop and check out different lines and the landscape around us.

    That looks super gnarly easy. I am 100% sure my 57=year old body and my super tweaked all stock CRF450x could easily make this ride.....Like NOT.
    You guys are superpro. I'll Binky Up and put my Got Milk sticker on the bike.
    I pulled a hamstring and dropped my bike twice just watching this vid.

    5MoH is on my bucket list. However, I'm sure it will take me a lot longer along with a lot of picking up my bike!

    Thanks for the video! It’s been 3 years since I been out to Moab and I am jonesing to get back out there. My bike suspension is set up but my fat butt has to loose 30# first! This video inspired me to get back to the gym! Also I know to watch out for that one rock in the middle of the trail now....lol

      Consider going keto or carnivore. I have lost 50 lb with no gym or anything just by changing the diet. I will have to put the stock springs back in my 300 before I go down there this spring.

    Like the way you edited, always showing a rider in frame. It showcased technique, which was awesome; feet on pegs and standing 90% of the trip. I may look into that Mako bar mount. I will not be taking your challenge :)

    @camstager4455 5 лет назад +4

    Oh my God. Great job tackling that stuff. Do you use mouse or tubeless? Can't see any inner tube holding up to pinch flats there
